Because PAL is a somewhat neglected region. We miss out on quite a few games, either that or they take ages to get released. Living in Australia, you have to deal with it, it's a fact of life. _________________

There are so many J-RPGs that I want! I'm all confused about when/if their coming the Australia.
Blue Dragon
Rogue Galaxy
Dawn of Mana
Grandia III
Xenosaga III
Monster Kingdom
Tales of ...... x3
Shadow Hearts 3
....and then theres the ones I missed that i still need. The 'must plays' so to speak.
....and ones I'm not sure about, eg. Wild Arms series.
I'm scared I'll miss something major. Ahhh - the panic! _________________

I would say:
Blue Dragon - Definitely
Rogue Galaxy - Pretty damn sure (it is listed on PALGN's release list, although that is by no means binding)
Dawn of Mana - Who knows
Grandia III - Ehh a maybe?
Xenosaga III - Don't hold your breath
Monster Kingdom - Nahhhh
Tales of ...... x3 - I still have hope for Tales of the Abyss...not so much for others.
Shadow Hearts 3 - Strong possiblility
I also have faith (read: false hope) .Hack//GU will be released in PAL regions...*Sigh*

I'd say Rogue Galaxy, Blue Dragon and Xenosaga 3, unless they decide to release only the first 2 installments of Xenosaga, which would be a real bastard! _________________ Playing: 30sec Hero, Scribblenauts, Dungeon Crawl

I thought they release xenosaga III on october the 18th, gamestrader even had that in one of their catalogues and I don't think we'll end up getting grandia 3 & shadow hearts 3 ( It doesn't follow Yuri anyway) because they've been out in the US for a while now

I've seen Wild Arms 4 in both JB and EB recently for around $80 new.
Also saw Shin Megami Tensai: Digital Devil Saga new in EB last week and a used copy of Magna Carta at some point.
Of course I am broke at the moment so couldn't buy them.

Its really hard knowing what RPGs to get. 2006 pumped out quite a few.
We need a must buy RPG listing. Wild Arms 4 is tempting me at the moment. I have so many RPGs at the moment just sitting waiting to be played. Currently at my 68th hour in Tales of Eternia. Not sure which game to start next. I'm think Disgaea.
Forgot: Was Xenosaga 1 a PAL release. I cannot find it. And where does Xenogears sit - related/unrelated? _________________

Xenosaga 1 and 2 came out here, but are fairly hard to find in stores. The Xenosagas are sort of prequels to Xenogears, but they're set a LONG time before. From memory a plot was written for 6 games, Xenogears was 5 and Xenosaga is 1-3, but they diverged from the original plotlines. _________________ Playing: 30sec Hero, Scribblenauts, Dungeon Crawl

Damn you Australia, I swear I have never seen pal releases of Sukiden 3, 4 or 5. (or 1 for that matter, an earlier console? SNES or something?) anyway anyone know where I can buy em? Loved the 2nd one, but someone told me it got a bit sh1t somewhere along the track _________________ xfire = andylulz

Suikoden 1 was a ps1 title actually. 3 was good (on ps2) but perhaps not as good as 2, still a worthy buy. 4 was panned critically and the graphics were awful for a ps2 game, I skipped it. My GF played 5 (twice!), it's very good but US only I believe. Pick up 3 if you can find it, it will even load your suiko2 clear file if you still have it _________________ Playing: 30sec Hero, Scribblenauts, Dungeon Crawl

Ohhh... You are breaking my heart, Se7en. What happened, man? You were all excited and I'm guessing you were basing your judgement off my review, and now it didn't interest you. Any major problems or just the setting and style not your thing?
^ Suikoden V made it, but it didn't really hit the standards that previous titles had. _________________

I've seen Suikoden V around at JB and EB in Sydney. So it is still floating around.
I bought Atelier Iris 2 instead which was fun but combat was so much easier than the Atelier Iris which made it a little less satisfying.

Given the amount of time RPGs demand of the player, the fusion of all its elements must prove addictive.
Graphics
Great cinematics and art direction, albeit too sci-fi for my tastes. Bland dungeons.
Sound
Musical score of a high calibre and refreshingly dark and brooding voice work complements DDS' plot.
Gameplay
Underdeveloped human forms in battle. Demon forms would have been more impressive had they functioned as devastating beasts awaiting summoning. Meat and three veg battle system. Tediously high random encounter rate. _________________

Suikoden 5 looked as good as 3 to me, which was a step down from 2 and 1 but still worthy of a playthrough. The plot and voice acting is high quality for an RPG too.
I can't play Megaten games because of their encounter rate! You have to fight a LOT of battles to get anywhere, so if you don't love the battle system/pokemon collection thing, it's too much of a slog. Having said that, the plots are crazy-ass! I reccomend getting a GF who likes high encounter rates and getting her to show you the cutscenes, it worked for me! You gotta respect plots where the world ends in the first 5 hours. _________________ Playing: 30sec Hero, Scribblenauts, Dungeon Crawl

hey guys, in rpgs what ya favourite battle system, real time ( tales series, star ocean 3) turn based ( dragon quest series, final fantasy series up to X-2) or interactive turn based ( shadow hearts series, magna carta); mne would have 2 be turn based, cause it allows you to think of how 2 defeat the enemy
anyway does anyone know any good rpgs which are non- linear cause I like to explore

Was Stella Deus: The Gate of Eternity a PAL release? I'm trying to work out if it is worth me chasing it down. Any thoughts? Turn-based fighting would be a bonus. _________________

Looks like you can still get it some places. It didn't get great reviews, but it's probably worth playing. _________________ Playing: 30sec Hero, Scribblenauts, Dungeon Crawl

FFXII and SMT:DDS2 on the 23rd of Feb
Digital Devil Saga 2's collector's edition looks particularly awesome:
" Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga 2 PlayStation 2 COLLECTORS EDITION includes:
* Digital Devil Saga 2 PlayStation 2
* 44 page manual
* Collectors Edition inlay
* Six collectable artcards featuring images from the game
* 30 track music CD"
http://www.ghostlight.uk.com/product_info.php?prod=8
Although, I don't know if I'll be able to afford both, or even one, as Uni starts around then, and I think I may be strapped for cash. Quite badly. _________________ •PESPY »»

Ohhh nice. Thanks for the heads up. Definitely going out of my way to pre-order this game.
I went back to DDS the other week to find it won't load anymore (sigh), so DDS2 couldn't come any sooner. _________________
