those pictures have quite a nice look about them imo.
not bad art direction.

doesn't really sound like my cup of tea beyond that though.

I thought the graphics (at least in those images) look pretty decent for PS2, especially as Obsolete said, in relation to art direction. Of course they could always be the exception to the rule.
