I've been a Harry/Hermione shipper for a couple of years now and still am even after HBP, until book 6 I never could imagine it being R/Hr, the only backup for the ship was that they argued all the time and that attracted them to eachother... yeah... cool relationship.
Even though HBP almost ruined my H/Hr ship altogether I can still hope that something turns up in book 7 that brings them together. Maybe JKR just made a mistake in book 6, after all it was the worst book in the series via plot line even without counting that my ship didn't sail. _________________

I must be one of the only people here who actually found Half-Blood Prince to be a really decent addition to the series. Moreso than the OotP, if you ask me.
Also, despite all the links that you allude to Oboe (yes that is your name from now on) I still don't think Harry will die. That said, your suggestion of Ron and company re-telling the story to their children, if not grandchildren does make sense and I can see it being a possibility. But yeah I still don't think Harry will die, it's just too predictable... _________________

I doubt it could possibley be anyone retelling the story, it just doesn't seem like it would be a fitting ending... and if it was I think it could only be Harry, after all the whole series is told in his point of view and no one else's. _________________

Same here. I wasn't a fan of OotP but HBP really sucked me in. I love a good scavenger hunt and I believe this was the book that introduced the concept of the horcuxes and what needed to be done with them. Plus it just had an epic feel to the story, something I felt was lacking in OotP. I'm still going insane waiting for the film to come out though! _________________

Same with you Cap and Nismo, I loved HBP way more than OotP. I also hated the little brat which became of Harry in OotP as well.
What do i think will happen? Well harry could die, it would make sence I guess, but when has that ever ment anything? I just pray to God that some asshole doesn't leak what happens a day or so before launch of DH. _________________

heh - that's why i'll be avoiding almost everything until the time i have finished reading the book.
though if the religious nutters protest with a big sign saying what happens on it again, like they did outside Target for HBP, it might be a bit hard.
i wonder if that'll be considered a justified assault? _________________

Was that in Australia or the US or somewhere? I could see that happening in America, but yes, I do believe that it would definatly be justified assult here.
Slightly of topic, I found it funny that in Church on Christmas day one of the kids brought along a Harry Potter board game Scene It thing. _________________

it was here, outside the Perth store.
it was the day after it came out, so there must've been at least one religious fanatic sitting up all night speed-reading the book in order to find out the spoiler.
spoilt the big surprise for me, though somehow i don't remember being that fussed. i think the hype of HBP had already passed for me, so i didn't really care. _________________

HBP was semi-ruined for me a couple of weeks before the books release, I remember that a copy of it was leaked and the main death of the book was posted over forums/general news websites everywhere, along with being put in the newspaper as well.
HBP certainly had some good elements and trademark cool 'Harry Potter stuff' in it... but the depth of the plot behind it seemed very weak to me, unlike OOTP (which although dragged on and was maybe stretched out a bit too much) which seemed to have a much deeper meaning behind each part that I would read. _________________

Best back IMO was the third book which got me into the series. Just a great plot twist and everything seemed to have some meaning to it.
HBP was the worst but only because the events havn't been resolved yet thus the book never felt complete. Too much side story for my liking and they stretched things a bit too far. _________________

Maybe that's why you found it to be not as good as previous books though? Because it was spoiled for you in some way or another before you had read it yourself?
I can't vouch for Capoeira or anyone else but I personally didn't have HBP spoiled at all and perhaps that is why I enjoyed it a whole lot more than the rest of you? _________________

I can't actually remember if the ending was spoiled for me or not, it probably was, given how it was plastered all over the internet within moments of it's revelation, but at that stage I hadn't even read a single book in the series so I don't think it registered with me.
Yeah, I was very late to the party where Harry Potter books are concerned. _________________

My prediction is that Harry will indeed die and like Voldemort,Harry's magic spirit will survive. Harry will be physically dead but his spirit will travel and learn to regain strength. Mabye he will live on the back of professor mcgonnougal's head? like voldemort on quirrell's in HP1.
My logic is based on the fact that this gives JK an option of another book, a revenge on his killer or something if she gets the time or wants another hundred mill. _________________

JKR has stated that there will only be 7 books to the series and maybe an 8th one that is like a Harry Potter glossary.
Also wasn't the only reason that Voldemort could survive as a type of spirit-being because of the fact that he has his you-know-whats which are revealed in book 6? _________________

Hey guys and gals, i posted this in a new topic (not remembering this topic already existed, sorry ObsoletE)
-----------------
It's just come to my attention that 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' will be coming out on July 21st 2007
It will tie up, and end the series, *Spolier*2 characters are to be killed off*end Spoiler*, aiming at over 600 pages, and will be released a week after 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix' hits cinemas July 13th
and Groovy Samurai wrote this in the now Locked Topic i wrote:

Oh and Bloomsbury, the British publisher of the Harry Potter books, has issued a press release regarding the publication date of the seventh installment of the Harry Potter series. You can read the press release at:

it's in time for Northern Summer, when school is out and kids (still target demographic) have spare time to read stuff they want to. _________________

I haven't read a single harry potter book. That being said, I hope he dies. And then someone replaces his actor too.
MOD EDIT:
This is a prime example of what we are cracking down on. Totally unnecessary posts that don't contribute anything to the topic other than trollage.
Count this as a warning. _________________ Buy Left 4 Dead 2 (Uncut X360) at Play-Asia.com

I havent exactly been a fan of Harry Potter, I've only seen the first and 3rd movie when the television people decided to broadcast it.
But I will watch it if it's on because on some subconscious level, I am intrigued by it's story
Anyway, what I wanted to say is that the news was talking about it and said in regards to the *secret*, there will be a phone number distressed readers can call if they get upset _________________

I also liked HBP. Then again I didn't have the ending ruined. I got the book the day it came out and had it finished in about 8 or 9 hours.
It's said how with Harry and "He who must not be named" cannot survive whilst the other does, but has anyone though that maybe both of them could die? Like Harry sacrificing himself to destroy Voldemort? Because that's what I think is the most likely to happen. _________________

I think everyone is on the same page Vervain. However, I'd find it rather cliche and hope it doesn't end like that. _________________
