Hi,
I have a question regarding the GameCube/Wii. I know that the UK and AUS are both PAL regions, but as I'm no where near a tech expert, I was wondering whether or not they were still somehow different? Or the same?
I pose this question because I would like to buy an import game from the UK off of eBay, and don't know whether it'll be compatible with my AUS Wii (without a freeloader of any sort). Might seem like a silly question because they're both PAL, but I'd like some confirmation so I don't go and purchase a game I'll end up not being able to play. ^^;

Just loaded my UK PAL version of Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes. Works perfectly. However there is nothing to differentiate it between countries on the box (just says PAL, not UK). You'll be fine if you get it from UK but make sure what you're getting is PAL. You never know if the person is from UK they may have an NTSC game they're selling to you.

There's no regional difference, AU and UK PAL games are identically coded.
As far as I know, they are for Wii games too.

virtual console games aswell, you can change your country and play turbo x16 games on an australian wii

I just picked up my GT Pro game from the Myer pre-order and it has a european rating sticker on it (like the UK cube games I have) so it looks like all pal games will work in the Wii...
Jigarbov how do you change your wii to the UK?

To change country, just go to the country section under settings. I think its on the third page if I remember correctly.

Can you still play the other regions games (eg turbo x16) once you change back?

yeah i changed to UK, downloaded some turbo 16 games (bomberman and bonk) and changed back to australian, wii points and games intact.

Just so you know, most GameCube discs and Wii Discs I have seen are the exact same copy as English-speaking Europe gets. It even says EUR on the batch number (Games made for Australia specifically say AUS - think Animal Crossing).
