Personally I think the Far Cry: Vengeance control scheme is looking pretty good. But that's just me. |
that's atrocious. there's nothing original there, just the same familiar actions we know being mapped to the wiimote instead of a button. looks frustrating more than anything.
in addition to that, the game visuals are hideous.
*returns to far cry on pc*
EDIT: sorry for being negative in the thread dedicated to the system but i just had to say how bad that game looks. |
Thats not what IGN thinks of the game. Here.

Oooh, that was bad - but made me chuckle.
I was thinking the graphics weren't too crash hot too, especially after seeing the 360 version. But y'all forgetting, "the Wii isn't about graphics". _________________

Farcry looks great on Wii IMO...if you haven't played it before.
Honestly, I've played the same game through on xb.

What are you talking about, the preview said 'looks fairly awful' compared to the Xbox version.

yeah - i was thinking it looked good too.
i mean, there's a lot of artifacting on that video for me, but it's not a direct-feed, so i assumed it was due to that.
i'm disappointed it continues to use the binding box, as i think this is quite restrictive for various reasons on an FPS game, but those controls still look pretty cool, assuming they work as smoothly as the video makes out.
still, i've got the best version already (PC) so i probably wouldn't have bought this anyway, unless the controls were really something special. _________________

lol, I didn't mean literally looks good, more 'looks like fun' (which Farcry is).
For reference, the Wii is a triple Gamecube with more effects and features and much faster (and more) RAM then the xbox. There's no excuse for the same game to look worse then current gen IMO.

Did you guys see that the Wii came up 2nd worst for average reviews for launch games of all time. Can't remember where I read that, but it's a bit sad. I actually think the launch titles are rather rubbish, saved by Zelda and WiiSports. Plus I guess the lack you get to try out a shiny new controller. _________________ Shin J Leon.

Nah, that was 1up and they used faulty information (they relied on wikipedia for one thing, and it was wrong!). It's a stupid comparison because it severely disadvantages launches with a lot of games, and averages are meaningless anwyay. For example:
Console A scores:
1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 10, 10, 10, 10 - Average = 4.27
Console B scores:
6, 5, 5, 5, 7 - Average = 5.6
But which console really had the better launch? One has four 'perfect' games, but was dragged down by shovelware.

Lord Halo Nerd: Wii Play has the free controller with it
Joe Blow: Wii Connect 24 is essentially (correct me if I'm wrong guys) the online service for the Wii...meaning it's available 24 hours a day. Eventually games will come out, such as The Sims Wii, whereby you can connect online and play your game with everyone.
Oh and from memory it can be connected 24/7 even when you're not playing. So when you play Animal Crossing, for argument sake, you can go to school/work and come back with letters and gifts from friends over Wii connect. Other than those few things, I'm not really sure what the go is.

That's pretty much it. The Wii has a standby mode after you 'turn off' the console. It's internet capabilities are still active in this standby mode, and new content/information can be downloaded while you're doing other things. When you turn the console on again, you can access all the new stuff. The console has been designed to use a small amount of power in stand by mode, about the same as a small light bulb. _________________

I'm a bit concerned about the Connect24, I'm with Telstra on one of their "unlimited" broadband plans, which means my limit is actually 10gb a month, and we always manage to go over that anyway. How do you think Connect24 will affect my monthly downloads? _________________ Wii Friend Code: 1013-7016-8449-0184

Zombi I'm on the same plan. We are always going over the limit, and I'm currently being whored down to 1 kb/s or whatever Telstras ridiculous speed cap is.
Like Zombi said...we need to know how many MB's this thing will chew up while playing, as well as when it is 'idle.' You'd have to say during the course of the month it would be hundreds of MB's if not over 1 gig.
Dare: it depends on your plan. Unlimited plans are fine, but remember some plans have download limits and you have to pay lots of money for any excess downloads.
Also don't forget about the bandwidth. What if someone on my network is on the internet...does the Wii Connect chunk up? or vice versa?

Telstra just upped their unlimited plans to 12GB. I'm pretty sure the WC24 will to be disabled, if not just turn off your wireless.

It's probably only a few megs for things you don't deliberately select to download.

I'm not particularly worried about it, I'm on a 25G plan with TPG. At the moment, I've actually gone over that limit, so I'm being throttled, but the next month clicks over on the 4th, so I'll be back to normal in time for the Wii. This is the first time we've gone over 25GB in one month. _________________

Don't know if this help, but it's ment to use about the same amount of power as a lightbulb does. _________________
