A heads-up to anyone on the fence, I went today and they have Guitar hero 2! the first 8 songs are unlocked and they had coop play open all day. I had 4 goes at it, very satisfied. All the graphics look better, the difficulty is upped on hard and expert and coop mode is pretty good. The only downer about coop is that the bass player usually has a more boring time, but this may be a good way to play a tricky song with a noob, especially as you can be on different difficulty levels.
The lines were long at times due to most of the songs being looooong, and go for the guitar with no stickers as the stickered one has a busted orange fret. Now to convince the minders to let us unlock some more songs _________________ Playing: 30sec Hero, Scribblenauts, Dungeon Crawl

What about the rest of the expo?
Dunno if I can be bothered... it'll take me about an hour and a half to get there.

I've now played ten tracks and they're all great. I disagree about the bass/rhythm line being "more boring". It depends on the song, and some of them have really fulfilling lines on second guitar.
I'm actually finding myself opting for the second guitar and letting Jake play lead as a preference.
When you say it was the first eight - was it the actual first eight, as in:
Motley Crue - Shout at the Devil
Danzig - Mother
Cheap Trick - Surrender
Wolfmother - Woman
Spinal Tap - Tonight I’m Gonna Rock You Tonight
Kiss - Strutter
Nirvana - Heart-Shaped Box
Police - Message in a Bottle
Or was it another set of eight that looked more like this:
Shout At The Devil
Strutter
You Really Got Me
War Pigs
Who Was In My Room Last Night
John The Fisherman
Trippin' On A Hole In A Paper Heart
Madhouse
Psychobilly Freakout
YYZ
(yes, I know that's ten... just checking what list you got to play) _________________ GAMEparents

I wouldnt be to concerned about not going, I went yesterday and it was pretty crap. They had like one stand for games and when i was there, they were only playing Marvel Alliance and Guitar Hero 2. Plus there were no give aways or anything. All the main autographs costed like $20 dollars each, except for Vic the voice actor for Elric from FMA - that was pretty cool. You couldnt even see the big screen in the stage area because it was outside and it was to bright... Yeah I dont know if Ill be going next year.. _________________

Sorry I didn't reply to your post James, but I crashed after posting that. Good news is on day 2 the main guy put in the cheat for all tracks! Bad news was that we weren't allowed to play the bonus songs "because they aren't announced yet" no Trogdor for me! I played all up 9 songs, all on hard and mostly lead stuff. Andypuppy is right and depending on the track the Bass can be fun, John the Fisherman and Killing in the Name are 2 examples. Bass tends not to get solos though, so it's usually easier.
Speaking of difficulty, I had no real troubles playing anything on Hard (I've done most tracks on Expert in GH1) But I didn't try Expert for fear of having my arse kicked and losing playtime
The opening movie is now a cartoon network/MTV style cartoon with 2 of the guitarists shooting beams of rock at each other, pretty cool!
Last bad thing: I rocked out so hard on Miserlou I FROZE THE GAME. Hope that doesn't happen in the final release :-/ _________________ Playing: 30sec Hero, Scribblenauts, Dungeon Crawl

I've been looking forward to playing Misirlou since I saw the video. I keep getting more and more excited for each day closer to release.

Wait, wait... Food Porn?
Looks a little dull though. I thought this thing was usually quite huge, but there doesn't seem to be too many people there. _________________

That's about as many people as there ever were, it's been in smaller venues before though so might have seemed to be less. For starters there was 4 separate rooms this year so you didn't see everyone in the same place.
If you're not deep into Sci-fi, comics or anime it's a waste of time though, you won't have much to do! I know a ton of people who go so I spent most of the time (that I wasn't playing GH2) chatting with them.
And yes, I take Food Porn pictures, youngsters avert thine eyes! _________________ Playing: 30sec Hero, Scribblenauts, Dungeon Crawl
