so where did you get the $110.00 from

Im Done

That retailer is ripping people off. Xbox 360 pricing is as follows:
First Party: $99.95 (titles like Viva Pinata are expected to launch lower than this)
Third Party: $109.95-$119.95, I've seen plenty of games at EB no less at the $110 mark, most third parties are trying to recoup as much money as possible from development loss.

It makes sense for Nintendo to follow Microsoft's pricing plan as it allows them to look like an attractive offer for third parties. However you'd probably find that the Japanese prices will be quite low.

In some thread somewhere (I'm not going to bother finding it, but I'm pretty sure its an article discussion), Luke mentioned that he's heard third party titles will be $120, and an EB employee confirmed, that at least one game (Tony Hawk, I think) is gonna be $120.

$120 for games like Rayman and Redsteel? No way. Ubisoft, if you're reading this, please mark these games at NO MORE than $99.95. That goes double for the rest of you 3rd party developers...

Really Nintendo are pushing it if they price games the same as xbox or what is expectet for the ps3, they just can justifie it! I was pissed when i heard extra controllers will be around the $100 dollar mark, but if games are $120 i will shit myself!

Does anyone else think nintendo is straining the friendship?

I think every company is straining the friendship with their AU$1 = US$.5 currency conversions.

However this over $100 stuff, particularly for the Wii, really is.

I just reckon there should be more dynamic pricing. If Zelda was $120, I'd still buy it, without question. Years of effort and a labour of love by the world's absolute best developer (IMO), totally worth it.

Halo 3, Mario, and Shadow of Colossus are some others that could be in this catergory and price range.

Next step down would be locked in at under $100, and be the 'well produced mass market' stuff like Red Steel, Perfect Dark, Tom Clancy everything etc. IMO most racing and sports games should be in this catergory or below as well.

Small-ambition games like Table Tennis should be under $50. Anything a small team whipped up in under a year should be ultra cheap, no matter how fun it is. As for others, Puzzle games/retro packs and the like should be $40ish.

I don't see why Wii games should be cheaper then the others if they have had the same effort put into them. Sure, people talk about needing mass resources and years of effort to make a PS3 game, but we won't be getting those games at launch now, will we? Much like the 360 launch we'll be getting cheap rush-jobs and ports on both PS3 and Wii (with a couple of exceptions).

I do think it would help Nintendo if their games were cheaper - and it looks like prices will at least be frozen in the US (at US$50). But if the Wii takes off I'm sure they'll charge whatever they can get away with. The 'here are tools to make Wii cheap to develop for' talk is not so much for our benefeit, but for developers. You don't have to sell as many copies to make your money back, so it's less risky.

Any thoughts?

Nintendo said in a press event that they would look at price fixing that was suitable for the sotware.

Eg. Game like Mario Kart DS which has been in development for a while would be $70 while games that have been in development for a few months (eg. Brain Training) would be $50.

I will spend my money on games depending on the physical size of the console.

The Wii is so small, so I wouldn't pay over $80 for a gam. Whereas I would glady pay $120 for a 3rd party PS3 game. It's only logic: bigger consoles are better!

I don't necessarily disagree with you there - in fact, I know that I'll happily go out and pay $100 for specific games, yet others I wait for price drops, so in a way, I've enforced a similar system for myself.

However I think that if it was implemented, this tier system should peak at $100, with possible slight exceptions for anything with a big, looks-expensive-to-produce (even if it isn't really) peripheral, ie. Guitar Hero. I mean, I know there are some games that I would go out and pay more than $100 for (any new Mario platformer being the big one for me), but I don't think its really necessary to make us do.

And regarding the Wii games should/shouldn't be cheaper than 360 and PS3 games, I'm simply going on US prices where, as far as I know, no Wii games are above $50. If that is indeed the case (it might not be - feel free to prove me wrong), thats just an absolutely ridiculous markup.

so it looks like 3rd party titles will be $100 - $110. Putting 1st party titles around $90. IMO thats pretty respectable, by PAL standards.

then again it's EB so you might have to factor in the "SYO"(screwing you over) tax of $10 or so.

I might pic up RS for $109, but i do hope the JB around the corner do the same thing they did for the Xbox 360 launch, and put ALL software prices down to $75 for the first 3 days of launch.

ill pic up both RS and Excite truck for that kind of money.

It's EA thus that can't be right,

depending on the console.

All this over pricing on the Wii has put me off, before the price was announced I was set on it, $400 is toomuch for 1 controller if another is $100 and over $100 for a game is definite no.

I'm finidng myself more interested in a 360 at the moment...

So $650 RRP and games that are $130 RRP sounds better to you.

If you want a core console, plus game, plus memory card to save its going to cost you $619, $399 with a game and on board memory is pretty decent.

I wish $100 was the standard price for X360 games, lucky I work in a store that sells games so I always catch on to the specials for $99, however if your an EB customer, you can expect to pay up to $130 for some X360 games.

People can bitch and moan about the price of the controllers aswell, but X360 controllers are RRP $79.95, only $20 cheaper than Wiimotes which contain alot more technolgy within em than X360 wireless constrollers.

The Wii is cheap, regardless. Games are gonna cost about the same no matter what system you get it for. With the Wii at least a game is bundled.

^ Can you please name a single 360 game that has a RRP of $130?

And seriously, did he say he found the 360 RRP more interesting? He said he found the 360 interesting and that's it. He's not some idiot EB customer who pays RRP for everything. All that stuff can be found for much cheaper if you're even slightly informed. Premium 360 consoles can be had for $579, and games for $99.

The Wii is innovative, sure, but don't say it's "cheap" because it simply isn't. It is less expensive than a 360 (slightly), but that doesn't make it cheap.

Nintendo have priced themselves out of the cheap next-gen market and into the competitivly priced for the features it has market! I also think its the fact that people were pumped about slugging it out with their mates on Wii sports, now to do that it will cost almost an extra $300 for some 4 player tennis, thats almost a second Wii!

I just think Nintendo have lost the tag they gained of being every ones second console.

Honostly, I don't believe the price should mean anything to you dances and cro. If you think you'll prefer the 360, go for it first and get the Wii in a year or so when Brawl, Prime 3 and Galaxy are out and there's been a price drop. I know the price doesn't effect me, becuase even though there's only say $100 between 360 and Wii I will choose the one I will get the most enjoyment out of (Wii obviously). Sure the 360 seems better value, but what's the point of me getting 'value for money' when I know I won't enjoy it as much as what I will with the Wii.

Spot on. Its not that the Wii is 'bad value' or the 360 is 'good value' or whatever, its just a matter of now I've had to go from "definately grabbing both within the next year or so" to "I'll get one, then wait for the other to have a price drop". And as for which one I want more, I don't really know. Mario Galaxy and Brawl are probably the two games I'm most interested in at the moment, but then the next bunch of games are all 360 ones. I'm also not all that optimistic about the Wiimote at the moment, which is affecting my decision as well.

I'm actually thinking a cheap PS2 could be the thing I should go for next, but I'm thinking all the packs this Christmas are gonna be loaded with Singstar and Buzz and Eyetoy and all that crap I couldn't really give a stuff about.

Its just all too damn hard.

Except for the part where Nintendo took 5 year old hardware and overclocked it.
