According to Palgn standards....I would've given this game a 3 or 4....its absolute rubbish and I cannot justify the purchase price for 2 hours of enjoyment weighed up against 6 hours of frustration/boredom/chores.
The graphics actually hurt my eyes....no joke! They are so bright and garish it's unbelieveable! _________________

Pretty spot on review from my impressions from the demo. Its a real shame that the game hasn't been delayed for another 6 months to sort out all of the problems as it does have heaps of potential. The one glaring thing that stood out for me from the demo was how crap the aiming system is, it requires absolutly no skill in dispensing of dozens of enemies and would have been much more enjoyable if it had an aiming system similar to Saints row with the enemy numbers adjusted accordingly. I hope that the developers aren't put off by the bashing this game is going to get and improve it quite alot for Just Cause 2 (if its ever made).

I really enjoyed Just Cause, even if it does have its faults.. As I said to Jeremy beforehand I would probably have gone higher with the score, but it's one of those games I think that'll split people so I can see why people aren't enjoying it as much as I did. The controls/combat took a bit of getting used to, especially jumping between vehicles, but they don't take long to get the hang of. The grappling hook deserves heaps of praise as it has made for some amazing moments, the last mission especially had me swapping between about 3 helicopters just to survive.
I love the sheer size of it, I love the fact you can just retry a mission when you fail and I love how you can get vehicles dropped off via helicopter if you happen to be stuck in the middle of nowhere. The lock-on aiming system is perhaps a little too accurate for its own good but when you get to the later stages of the game you'll be thankful it's not as clumsy as GTA's.
It's over the top, but it makes no apoligies and is the game equivalent of a B-Movie. Looks stunning too, absolutley full of colour and I haven't seen such beautiful sunsets since Ocarina of Time and only the character models and building textures show it up as being essentially a PS2 port. The side missions aren't exactly thrilling for the most part, but the Liberation missions do get rather intense the further you progress but that's about it as the rest of them are basically 'go get/kill something and bring it back.' With that in mind, and the fact that there's only 21 main missions I think in retrospect I would go to a 7/7.5, but the main missions and just messing around in general is too much fun for me to go any lower. _________________

I enjoyed many portions in the game as well, but I'm sure that Chris will agree, that it has to be a review that can be considered for everyone
that being said, I'm not the biggest fan of open-ended style games - though there were moments that were more fun than i've had in games like GTA _________________

Is it just me or does the lead character look like a hair stylist? _________________

I dunno who is approving development for these games, but I think they should be shot. This game has no appeal (to me) at all. I was actually 1/2 excited when I saw the title, thinking it may of been a adventure/thriller game based around the movie or something. But alas.
I mean, it's like a 10 year old designed the game, "Let's jump out of a plane, onto a car! Cool!!!!!" Games that try so hard to be cool annoy me!
Me runs off to lawnmower zombies.... _________________ Shin J Leon.

I bought this game and I think it is really fun.
I agree that the handling for vehicles is'nt that great.
Though the graphics of the PS2 version are'nt that great, I love the draw distance.Unlike quite a few other games things don't dissapear 30 meters down the road.
I love the atmosphere of the game, especially when you're running around in the wilderness.
For me this one of the fun games I've played in a while. For some reason I don't enjoy most games las much as I used to.
