Feel free to add yours. icon_wink.gif

I got Pikmin yesterday (28th June - Launch day) and I'm already up to Day 15. You might be thinking "Geez, that must be a short game" and you're probably right. There's only 30 days and you're forced through the game at a steady pace introducing a gradual learning curve. I've been playing for about 7 - 8 hours.

First off, I'm not a big fan of strategy games. I only got Pikmin out of sheer curiosity and because of trust in Shiggy's ability to create great games.

I turned it on, played through Day 1 (No limits so you can come to terms with the controls) and after an hour realised this was the most fun I've had since I first turned on Mario 64. No joke. This game is so incredibly original and incredibly fun that you'll be glued to your screen for days.

Another thing I noticed - You become attatched to your Pikmin. For example, one day, 43 of my Pikmin didn't make it back to the ship at night and were eaten. I felt really bad for them. Seriously, I felt awful for letting them die because I created them and I raised them and they helped me find several ship parts over several levels and then they died. icon_cry.gif

I recommend this game to anyone who's willing to try something new. There's never been anything like this before and even if you're not a fan of Strategy games or Adventure games, you'll get hooked... I am. icon_wink.gif

At the very least, you should rent this game and give it a try. Invest a few hours in Pikmin and you'll wonder how you ever lived without it. icon_smile.gif

I really want to try the game out, but I'll probably just rent it. As good as the game is, I don't think it's worth $100, specially if you can finish it overnight. icon_confused.gif Much like Luigi's Mansion...

You think I'm interesting as a Pikmin, IAI(Amy)? icon_lol_old.gif
I'm not as short as a Pikmin, but I am water and fire resistant, plus I can carry explosive rocks(read: explosive gases). icon_razz.gif

A 2 player mode would be cool - Pikmin armies battling each other! icon_surprised.gif

Would have somewhat extended the longevity...

Well I just thought I'd chime in again. icon_wink.gif

The game gets substantially harder once you get to 'The Forest Navel' area. The area is shrouded in darkness with very hard enemies and harder puzzles. I'm on Day 16 and I have 17 pieces of my ship. I also unlocked the 4th level (I forget the name... something to do with water) and the enemies really pissed me off. There's bees that carry away your Pikmin, there's big airbag enemies that blow your Pikmin absolutely EVERYWHERE and frogs that leap up and piledrive the poor lil' guys.

On a side note - The graphics in Area 4 are awesome. At first I just walked around to look at the scenery. It still distracts me from my tasks... I've got the song from Area 2 stuck in my head right now. Remember how you'd get Luigi's humming stuck in your head? This is just as bad... icon_wink.gif

Don't dismiss this game as being a 'rental only' material. It has a lot of depth and replayability. The challenge mode also adds a lot of length to the main game. I just finished Area 2 (Forest of Hope?) with 160 Pikmin. I wanna beat that tomorrow... icon_lol_old.gif

I'll keep updating as things happen... icon_wink.gif

I'd also like to point out that Pikmin is now my favorite GCN game. icon_smile.gif

I would actually estimate the game's length at 20 hours for novices due to the trial and error nature that you'll find with some ship pieces... icon_eek.gif

I played for 30 seconds at a demo thing, ripped a few Pikmin out the ground, and had no idea what I was doing.

Control and graphics were solid... That's about all I could gather.

I might check it out when I have to use up my TRU vouchers.

I'm liking it. Up to day 17 with a part a day. That's over 3 real days, I'm trying to drag it out a bit.

Pikmin is a great game and really does get you hooked. I am on day 9 and have 13 parts. I am taking my time on this game and trying to get the best strategies. There is something for everyone here even sadist people who just want to sacrifice all their pikmin. (although that is very fun icon_wink.gif )

I do recommend this game even if you do just rent it but i would say to buy it.

Every time a Pikmin dies, a sadist gets a grin... icon_wink.gif

I haven't played it much since my last post, but I must say that Area 4 is looking very difficult. The puzzles are VERY hard, enemies inhabit every location and the parts are in really stupid places (A flying vacuum with spikes on it's back, for example). The different traits of the different Pikmin have really become important - There's more barriers to blow up, lakes to explore (They'd probably be the size of a little puddle in real life) and flamejets that spew fire from the ground. The enemies require detailed strategies to defeat and some ship pieces require you to sacrifice Pikmin for the greater good... icon_sad.gif

I'm currently n Day 18 with 18 pieces. icon_smile.gif

That is a generalization. I think wink

he or she have not played it much since his or her last post but he or she must say that Area 4 is a lot of things.
Tell me more. Is that a fact. Who told you that? How long?

Do you mind if I tell other people you are n Day 18 with 18 pieces. I am so glad you find this amusing, Bronzetiger.

I don't mind if you tell other people Amy, although you might want to run a spell-check over that sentence to change 'n' to 'on'. icon_wink.gif

icon_lol_old.gif The worst enemy so far is the Mushroom Boss in The Forest Navel. If your Pikmin get caught in the gas he emits, they become... Well, I won't spoil it, needless to say it is VERY annoying to have 100 Pikmin chasing after you. icon_wink.gif

I commanded 100 red Pikmin with my C-Stick to attack it. They all got gassed and chased me so I tried throwing them onto it instead and it fell over. Easy as pie after that. icon_wink.gif

Yes, he was quite annoying. I sent all my little followers after him, next thing I know half of them are going after me. Quite disturbing icon_confused.gif Happy endings all around though, the un-brain(gas?)washed ones destroyed him. Muhahahaha icon_twisted.gif
