360 Prey demo is up and is a wooping 1.1 gig. But I don't plan to download it because it's such a large (it terms of content) demo and I don't want to ruin the game for myself when it's released.

But what I am interested in people's opinions who have played it? Graphics, controls etc? PC vs 360 version....

Mate, I can't even download the thing! I hit d/l, went to sleep, woke up and it disappeared.

Rinse and repeat 3 times, add frustration, and here I am!!

*Edit* Upon trying again, I'm getting a 'Cannot download this item' message halfway during the d/l.

Damn, wtf?

I had that, turned out there wasn't quite 1.3gb of space on my HD so I had to delete an old demo to make room, maybe your problem is the same?

I only played it for a little bit today, and it seems like it's a great game. It's sort of got the same look as Doom 3, but a lot better.
The weapons are pretty nice, there's only 4 weapons in the demo, a wrench, a sort of machine gun thing with a sniper scope which is good to use, it's my favourite. There's these little creatures running around that you rip the legs off and use as grenades, and a big gun with a rapid fire mode and a freeze ray.
I wasn't sure about the game before, but now I'm going to pre order it.
You should download it, it won't spoil anything, it's pretty short.

I forgot about the spirit bow you can use when you leave your body, which is just a bow but it's pretty powerful.

Chris, I have plenty of free space on my HD. I don't know what's going on with it. At the moment, it can't seem to hold a steady connection with Xbox Live.

Every time it gets d/c, the download restarts too, even though I've got 1G of it already downloaded on the HD from my first attempt.

On my like, 9th now.

Really frustrating.

Prey is awesome and the demo is solid. Looks as good as a PC running it on full detail so with the higest setting on your pc it will look AS good as the Xbox 360 which I figure is running everything maxed out aswell.

I can't wait for this game and i've pre-ordered it already.

I love the guns, the speech and the organic/animated environments! Also the graphics kick ass!

Finally got the demo guys!

Prey is awesome. Far exceeded my expectations. The demo just wasn't long enough, wanted to keep going.

Definate buy from me.

Couldn't this have been in the Xbox 360 thread?

Anyway, I got it last night and gave it a go today. So far I'm impressed by the offerings, but I'm not 100% sold on the story. I mean aliens abducting a Cherokee who doesn't want to be one?
One of my favourite things of the game are those "portal" doors. The ones where they transport you to a different location from what looks like a crate or frame. Nice trick. icon_smile.gif

I know it was only the demo but there didnt seem like there was enough to kill. The portals looked cool but walking through a giant anus is a bit offputting.

I like how Tommy (the game's character) says different stuff when you/he experience it. Like when you first go up to one of those 'anus' doors he'll go "Eww gross!" and when he picks up that gun which can change from fire/freeze/lightning he goes "Cool, this'll rock some sh!t!". Also when you kill the 1st guy who's cowering in the corner mumbling crazy sh!t he goes "You're better off this way!".

I love it! I thought there was quite a bit of combat actually, because enemies just appear out of nowhere. There really are quite a lot of possibilities with the game.

And the story isn't as ridiculous as some....Italian Plumber who needs to rescue a princess from a Dragon/Dinosaur with a spikey shell anyone?!

Ah....unfortunately my account is currently on silver (as you can see on my gamertag) so I don't know about the Xbox 360 version but I saw it briefly on a mates computer and it looked like fun (albeit a bit disorienting) because people can be like above/below. I'm not really into deathmatch so we'll see how the team stuff and capture the flag modes turn out. All in all the net code on the pc version was solid. Once the full version comes out on the 360 i will upgrade to Gold (currently don't feel like playing anything else on live) and we should have a game.

Ugh, you only need a silver account to download demos. That's all I've got!

I just found the more I played it the more it sucked me in. Good use of graphics, audio, puzzles.

Anyone notice the rocking music just kick in late into the demo?

Yea man i've already got the demo I was just replying to Leonmc's post about trying the mutiplayer component out.

**MINOR SPOILERS**

Are you talking about the bar at the start of the game? Cuz you can go up to the jukebox and change the music. Later in the demo (right near the end) the same bar is in the alien ship and the music is still going.

I actually really like the multiplayer component of Prey.
Team deathmatch is good also and works well with the headsets.A good tactic for team deathmatch is everyone grab the acid gun and find a room with at least 3 different planes of gravity and focus on the doors with a teammate on each wall/roof. icon_biggrin.gif
I want to see how multiplayer will go in the full version though with vehicles, if at all.C'mon surely they'd have to chuck in some vehicular action.Spaceship pod thingy battles would be cool.

Apparently you can also play on the arcade machines.

I don't know whether I was put into a beta multiplayer server or whatever, but it looked like I was playing on a 28k modem. Everyone was jumping all over the place so it was unplayable. Might give it a go again tonight...

I notice that alot of americans are online with really bad pings when i go on.They need to do something about the country filter. When i have been playing against Aussies the lag is pretty much non existant.Although it takes one bad pinger to put the whole game out of whack.

Yea the arcade machines are cool, you can actually build up a pot on the pokies and I got upto level 2 of the pacman type game (forgot what it's called) and it got a little faster. I think because of the doom 3 engine you can interact with monitors/displays (etc) without any sort of transition. I don't know if going through portals and the like without any transition was supported on the original doom 3 engine or it's part of the modifications the developers put in.

All in all it looks like the game has had a lot of time and effort put into it and if it keeps the same sort of quality in all aspects of the game it should definately be a winner.

It's very rare that I will get a game before seeing some reviews on it first but I have a good feeling about this one.

True, ugh.

The game would have to take a bad turn after the part included in the demo to be bad, 'cause it rocked.

And yea, I was talking about the bar in the spaceship.

Gamespot gave it 7.5

http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/prey/review.html?sid=6153775

IGN gave it 9.0

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/717/717824p2.html

Although I trust Gamespots reviews way more than ign's it still looks good, I'll be buying it for sure.

yea i was just about to read gamespot's take on it.

I actually think IGN are a little lenient, Gamespot are too harsh and Gamespy are just right. I usually base my purchases on an average of those 3 sites.
