Since I heard about the New Nintendo DS Design back in Feburary, i thought gee this is interesting, a few months on we already hear about the DS Lite already available in Japan since March, but Nintendo kept it under wraps, then after we find out Japan got more demand than their supply could handle for the Nintendo DS Lite,

then 2 weeks ago Nintendo Australia announced that the Nintendo DS Lite would be shipping here first, with over 16 million Nintendo DS Units sold worldwide in just over a year and a half it's already clear that Nintendo owns and will continue to dominate the Handheld Market I already have a Nintendo DS, but I will be buying the Nintendo DS Lite also

, most people say, "Why buy the same thing, just cos it's shinier and new", well for those people is say"Whatever", The new Nintendo DS Lite is up to 40% brighter than it's original counterpart, with 4 brightness settings people now have a choice to set the unit up acording to their vision likings, the system itself is 40% smaller than the original Nintendo DS, The D Pad in my opinion is better and is the same one which is used for the gameboy micro, not to mention it's 20% lighter in weight which is good also especially when you want to play for a long period of time, Today i test drived the Nintendo DS Lite in EB Games for 20 mins and i must say the DS Experience was much improved with the Nintendo DS Lite

, in fact it feels like you're playing a new Nintendo console, but really you're not,The thing i liked most about the Nintendo DS Lite is its new iPod like paint job with a glossy white smooth plastic really makes the system look stylish and sleek, it seems like Nintendo are going really well over here in the Handheld market, people are always saying Nintendo are going down hill, but it simply isn't true as Nintendo always sells consoles for more than their manufacturing cost, take the gamecube for example, It costs Nintendo around $40.00 to make the Gamecube and they sell it for $99.95, last year Nintendo earnt almost 3 billion dollars US in revenue

"The Nintendo DS Lite isn't just another attempt to make the Nintendo DS more popular, it's simply an attempt to listen to Gamers ideas, for example, people said "make it smaller than the PSP, "Nintendo did it", put the microphone in the middle to make VO easier "Nintendo did it", make the D Pad more confortable and quicker to use "Nintendo Did it"
Make the screen brighter "Nintendo did it"

Where's the "I've already got one?!" option?

Man that post is long, you could have just said, "The DS Heavy is the prototype; I think it's time you all tried out the real thing! Who's with me?"

The DS Lite is the DS without everything you hated the first time you held it. It is to the GBA what the SP was - a revelation.

Definately from me. The original design of the DS was ok at best imo, and it could be the reason why I didn't buy one...
The Lite is small, sexy and sleek - things I DO like. icon_wink.gif Plus the main reason I'm buying one is New Super Mario Brothers. I'm also stocking up on some games already, so I'll have a good library when I get the unit.

Allready got a phat one and I'm happy enough with it. Plus, I'm guessing that the DS/Lite will be around for at least 4 more years so I'd hate to get a Lite and then possibly have to purchase a new unit in a couple of years. (plus the 'Nintendo DS Lite Micro' will be out then icon_razz.gif)

I can't see myself buying one untill it comes bundeled with a game (a good one) for $200 max. in a year or so's time.

I will definitely get one after my uni exams (so in 6 weeks I'll have one) - I have the original DS, but this Lite one just looks so much better that I want to play NSMB on it instead of my current model.

Don't worry, its called "DS Envy". icon_razz.gif You'll buckle under the pressure and buy one soon enough. icon_wink.gif

I'm getting one. Thinking about getting Metroid Prime Hunters or New Super Mario Bros on it. What do you guys think?

Where is the "waiting for a non-dull color" option? Everyone knows it is not about the functionality. Its about the chic. Wake me when there is a "limited edition triforce" model, or a "wikkid tattoo" model. Hell, even the stock color choices would be welcome over "fridge white". *Yawns*

Add in the "I'm dirt poor right now" option and I'll dance around a maypole for you. I'd get one if I had the money if only for a brighter screen, hopefully one I can astually play in the tiniest scraps of sunlight

Agreed.

The system does look damn nice, but at this stage I don't have enough money to throw around. I'm a bit annoyed that Nintendo released a new model only a year+ into the DS's life cycle - I can't afford it Nintendo!

I can't really justify another $200 for a unit I barely play, so nah.

I do with I held off on a DS and got this instead though, it does look damn sexy, plus the brightness modes look ridiculously clear.

$200 for another version of a console I already have vs. $200 to spend on about 4 games for said console.

The latter option is an absolute definate winner for me.

^ It's just money, there'll always be more. I'm sure it's obvious I'm getting one, just don't know from which country yet...

I dunno if i'll get one. I want to, but I'd rather buy some new games instead. Although, seeing the difference in quality from old to new is a real kick up the ass to upgrade.

Bring on the Triforce DS Lite!

Learn Paragraphs.

i couldn't read your post properly, but the answer to the question is probably.

i'm getting a DS either way, but if the original DS get's price cut a significant amount, i've no quibble getting one instead of a Lite.

I've had my Lite for about 2 weeks now, and it is certainly better overall. The screens are SO much brighter and I find the buttons and D-pad to be much better quality. It's more portable too, being much more slim and compact.

I'd go the Lite any day, it's certainly a much better unit.

This reminds me of the EB deal I saw plastered on their doors.

"DS-Lite for $99 WHEN you trade in your old DS and two DS games"

As for buying the machine outright; I need a windfall in order for that to happen icon_sad.gif

Still though, I'm saving up and holding it on for a black coloured one.

Depends on how much I could get for my DS, as to whether I get the Lite.
