No way PSP2 will come out this year. First of all PSP is already so expensive, adding additional 1GB of memory & Camera will make it even more expensive. Secondly it is impossible to reduce the size without reducing the screen size (unless it become clamp shell). Thirdly, Sony is focusing on PS3 release this year. Forthly, having PSP2 release this year will piss a lot of current PSP owner off.... which could result in losing faithful Sony supporter.

If Engadget's report turns out to be the correct one (if you cbf to read, they report that the internal memory will be 4GB, not 1 as stated here), I almost certainly will buy this.

Though if PALGN's right, it's still big incentive to buy... icon_kero.gif

I'm not so sure about this... sony normally waits a lot longer before releaseing their "one" or "two" -esque consoles. Unlike nintendo, there's still plenty of stock on shevles too, I can't see any real driving force for releasifn a new version this early on.

And sony supplying free memory space? Not likely, when they make so much of the sandisk stuff.....

Yeah, there are varying reports about the size, and many sites are confused between bits and bytes, but 8Gb (1GB) seems to be the most common report.

Coming to Australian stores in September 2007 with a RRP of $899.95 with no less then 2 dead pixels per unit. Thanks Sony, you've done it again.

It would give me more of a reason to buy a PSP, but still, I can see this thing being rather expensive.

Like what k1dcharm said, the price is gonna jack up with all those crap, & I don't see any reasons of buying it when you already have an PSP. & Yay 5% smaller!! It can be less if they make the pixel size smaller.

IF the rumor is true. Judging from the spec, it's going to have features that PSP doesn't have. Which means current owners will need to buy the new PSP (unless they make addons, which doesn't sound good). While Nintendo have a few generation of GBA, it's only minor upgrades which doesn't affect gameplay. Would be interesting how the market responce then.

^ Definatly. I'm not sure if I'd hand over another $400+ dollars for a slightly upgraded product (if i had a PSP I mean). I know there's no way I'm upgrading to a DS Lite untill my original DS karks it and thats half the price of the PSP.

Again, I guess it depends on weather you primaraly have the PSP for gaming or multimedia purposes.

I think Sony wants to fight the Xbox 360 with this... Not for next-gen supremacy, but in the price war. icon_razz.gif If they include all that it'll cost as much as a 360.
But if Nintendo can update their handheld consoles every 6 months, why not Sony, right? icon_wink.gif

I think it's bullshit.
The DS lite is met with much anticipation in Japan and the best way for Sony to try to harm it is to spread a rumour about over inflated memory for a PSP. Also it has been pretty standard for handheld game console memory to be measured by the bit instead of the byte and so the Engadget 4gb sounds the most accurate.

A slightly smaller psp with a 512 megabyte storage built in.

Maybe Sony should try getting some decent games on the current PSP. No incentive to buy the new one.
