The best song of all time will always be Shine On You Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd.
The first half lasts about 13:30. The second half lasts 12:22. That makes 25:52 of song. It builds up through some haunting synth work to a brilliant four-note riff. This four-note riff builds up further to some stunning guitar work, then launches into the song proper. The melancholy lead vocals are helped in the chorus into sounding incredibly like gospel music - the stuff legends are made of. After finishing the vocals, the song launches into a rich, powerful saxophone solo and just fades into "Welcome to the Machine".
At the conclusion of "Wish You Were Here", the song fades back in with some gentle bass, that crescendoes into a massive electronica-style guitar freakout until it reverts to the original slow-moving epic. The final vocal part is delivered, and the guitar starts to play in a concluding kind of way. Then the song keeps on going with a pseudo-jazz electronica song until the song fades away and there's an ambient musical buzz complete with more synth music, slower and now burning out slowly. At the very end it slows down, grows quieter and quieter until all you are left with is the buzzing and then that fades so that you don't even notice.
Beautiful. _________________ "Let me guess, you're one of those brothers who think you can get by with a wink and a smile."

"I *am* smiling."

Burzum - Det Som En Gang Var
Hypnotic, grim and very depressing. Also very minimal. Incredible song. _________________ SIGNATURE REMOVED - Luke

Was that Videohits or Rage?
3. Lonely - Akon
1. The Prayer - Anthony Colia (Australian Idol 2 Runner Up)
Horrible choice of songs really.
The best song IMO has to be Ashes to Ashes by David Bowie.
Lyrics (or what I can remember them as)
Do you remember a guy that's been
From such an early song
I've heard a rumour from ground control
Oh no don't say it's true
They got a message for the action man
I'm happy hope you're happy too
I've loved all that's needed love
Sordid details following
The shrieking of nothingness is killing
Pictures of Jap. girls in synthesis
And I got no money and I got no hair
But I'm hoping to kick but the planent is glowing (*echo*)
Ashes to Ashes
Funk to Funky
We know Major Toms a junky
Strung out in heavens high
Hitting an all time low
Time and again I'd tell myself
I'll stay clean tonight
But the green wheels are following me
Oh no not again
I'm stuck with a valuable friend
I'm happy hope you're happy too
One flash of light
But no smoking pistol
I've never done good things (echo)
I've never done bad things (echo)
I've never did anything out of the blue (echo)
Woah (echo)
I want an axe to break the ice (echo)
I want to come down right now (echo)
Ashes to Ashes
Funk to Funky
We know Major Toms a junky
Strung out Heavens high
Hitting an all time low
My mumma said to get things done
You better not mess with Major Tom (repeat until song ends).
The song just means a lot to me because I got it just at the right time and it just somehow relates to me. _________________

I'd have to nominate these songs as my current faves:
Neil Young - Fuckin' Up
Neil Young - Don't let it bring you down
Also, Nate, did you know your sig quote is from a Neil Young song called 'My, My, Hey, Hey (Into the blue)'. Kurt wrote it in his 'suicide' note, as you obviously know. Even though Courtney dun gone 'n blewd his brains out.

Nate if you're going to keep posting in this thread about your favourite song of the day then each post will be deleted.
This thread is for the Best Song in your opinion, I don't see a "s" next to song and so far you've posted about 5 (not sure could be more) times and you've only listed songs that you are listening to, there is a topic for that you know perfectly well. _________________
