Agreed with the comment. icon_razz.gif

Score is a bit harsh...but hey I'm not the one running the site now am I. icon_razz.gif

However I do agree with the final comment, I picked this game up after skipping the 2004 edition so I found a lot of new features however as you said they didn't put enough effort into making it a much better game.

Thus why WWF No Mercy is still the best Wrestling game out there. icon_smile.gif

While probably not the most appropriate place to ask(then again maybe it is...) what is this game like compared to day of reckoning 2 for gc??

I have neither(yet....reckoning will show up tmoz, fingers crossed), but im curious as to what the resident wrestling heads think of it too?

EDIT-WHOA-just saw the day of reckoning 1 review on palgn?5.5.....ouchies.....i wonder if day of reckoning 2 was a big jump from the first then???

A 7.0....Wow, that's odd?

Just let me say I havn't played this game so I can't really comment on the accuracy of any reviews. But I have been thinking about getting and have been checking all the reviews for it.

This is the only one that's decidedly mediocre, all the rest..eg: IGN 9.2, GameSpot..8.9 (very high for them) and others.... say the game is totally awsome.

The really funny part is, most of the other reviewers rave about how many new features have been included in this version, IGN actually state in their video review that..'it's just as well our video reviews are so short as there are so many new features in WWE 2006 that we could talk all day about them...'

Doesn't even sound like the same game that PALGN reviewed?

You should remember that PALGN, myself especially, absolutely hammer new games into a series that don't add anything of note to the franchise (see Gran Turismo 4). If you don't have any of the earlier games, then this is an easy 8. Probably a 9 if you are somehow a fan of current WWE product. I'd still have to recomend Here Comes the Pain, though, unless you really wanted online.

And new features? Meh. General Manager is the only new mode as such - but it's just a poor man's EWR. Odd, since EWR is free. There are two new match types. A few gameplay tweaks. That's about it. The fixed online mode is about the only thing I would call a significant inclusion. Unless there are some major things I missed, I really can't understand what IGN and Gamespot are on about - maybe they just have lower expectations from yearly updates.

Maybe it's just a PAL thing.

I guess they don't need to update to much, when it sells so well.

Shame I was hoping for a longer season like in Shut your Mouth, to make up for no online and no nearby friends to play multiplayer with.

Hi Brendan...yeah as I said, I havn't played it so I trust your judgement. My previous post was more just an observation of how different people (reviewers included) see things in and get different things out of the same game. Or indeed in some cases there may be other more commercial reasons involved.

I'm glad I came upon your review, it seems a bit more ballanced and 'genuine' than the ones I mentioned. Keep up the good work....

I rented the game today, and as much as I enjoy it do agree that it is only an upgrade and not really worth it. GM mose is fun but how the hell do I make a title match?

And the roster seems wrong. When I played not everyone was on the show they were drafted too ealier this year. Eddie Guerrero owns, viva la raza!
