Hey guys. I got mine launch day and twice now it has locked up during Extreme G-3. Has this happened to anyone else.
When I say lock up it stops the game and it jars and makes a loud buzz.
You cant reset it only power off and then on. It gave me quite the fright!

I am pretty sure it is a problem with the game itself and not the hardware. Super Monkey Ball is fine. I am thinking I might go and return the game. I have almost finished it and even though it is fast and pretty it lacks some depth, so I might exchange it for WR: BS.

No lock up to report here. I say return it or find someone else with the game and see what theyve experienced. yes, I'd say its most definately the software, not the tonka tuff hardware.

MONKEY BALL ROCKS!!!!!!!!

THPS3 has been kind to me. I have never turned it off then on again other than to see that awesome system menu again. I still can't believe it only uses 3 blocks...

It's never 'locked' as you've described it, but it's frozen a couple times so far...

Freeze 1: Super Monkey Ball, Monkey Billiards. Was taking break shot. Hit the ball at its hardest and pushed in L and R triggers instinctively as the ball made contact. Freeze and "Foul!" (Side-effect of the freeze).
Freeze 2: Sonic Adventure 2 Battle - the Cube didn't load the game back up after displaying one of the FMVs.

No lock ups/freezes/crashes or anything of that nature has happened to me. icon_biggrin.gif
Both Waverace and Rogue Leader work fine, even after gaming marathons. icon_wink.gif
I've heard that the reason games freeze is because the discs are dirty....

I leave my GameCube on for about 8 hours. Would that do it? icon_lol_old.gif

No lock ups here, although once when Southern Island was loading up on WRBS, my Cube made a strange buzzing sound. I opened the lid, ejected the game, then put it back in and continued playing and it's worked fine ever since. icon_wink.gif

A good quick fix to get rid off the lock-ups is to pour a glass of warm water(not hot) in the CD tray*.... icon_lol.gif

Civic, I did that, but my GCN won't start now. Perhaps the water wasn't hot enough?

I beleive so. icon_wink.gif

Seriously, now that this thread was bumped up, I'll tell you about my very first lock-up.
It was during Rogue Leader's Battle of Endor - all of a sudden during the first section of the mission my wingmen stopped talking to me and my commands would go through but without the voice command. As I finished, the second section of the mission didn't load up for some reason. icon_confused.gif
I haven't had a lock-up since then though.

Actually it wasn't mine, but the other day a friends one crashed. We were playing burnout and my joy in racing through oncoming traffic came to an end, bu the game froze just before I hit a semi.

Bloody game.
