PSP Lite pricing and release windows announced

PSP News | No, nothing to do with operating systems.
The PSP-2000, or PSP "Lite" as it has become affectionately known, was revealed at this year's E3 and was one of the bigger announcements at what was a rather sedate affair. At a recent Australian press event, Sony announced their windows for launch and price in Australia.

We were told to keep the first week in September free and our pockets full, as that is when we can expect the new unit to be released. Furthermore, we were told that unit will retail for "about the same" as the current models. While we weren't told what would be included in the pack, if we assumed that it would be the same as the current base pack, it would retail at roughly $AU280. However, we were also told that the unit will be available in "piano black" and "ceramic white".

The new unit is slightly slimmer, has TV out and weighs less. PALGN have held the unit and it is indeed lighter. Sony also informed us that there are several more PSP announcements leading up into Christmas this year. Stay tuned.

Sounds good. Any news on that TV tuner making its way here too? Or is that Japan exclusive?

This idea is tempting, wonder how much I'd get for my PSP if I perhaps sold it off now, hoping to still get a bit for it, some kids must be stupid enough not to know about this.. right?

Will be good. The original PSP should be going cheap and I'll pick one up.

I'll probably trade my old one in as well, although I want a deal because will still be under warranty at the time of release.

God damnit! Another $ conversion rip off icon_sad.gif I was expecting AU$250 for the pack with the memory card.
Still, that Valkyrie Profile: Lennith has been gnawing at the back of my mind for a while now... perhaps that's the reason I'm stupid enough to be thinking of spend over $300 just to get the PSP to play the one game icon_wink.gif. I spose there were some other games at E3 that looked ok too but the current PSP catalogue is pretty average (and I'm being lenient there icon_wink.gif ).

I'm probably going to pick one of these up, what i'm more stuck on is which colour and the package/final price is going to be.

if possible i'm curious as to whether we have materials that the public can get access to, to imprint designs on the psp. While i'm not sure if the star wars one in general is printed above or below the gloss finish hmmm.

also i'd probably keep my old one as well, for certain purposes.

I'm there baby! I sold my last PSP to fund my Wii purchase and I've missed it dearly, now with the larger memory card and tV out this is the perfect deal for me plus now I can mess around with this Ps3 link up for a whole 10 minutes until I realize just how useless it is.

Larger memory card?

Im just hoping theyve corrected the dismal D-Pad. I've had to use a fantastic mod for mine and my friend's to play Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX as it was intended.

I might trade my old one in. I so want that TV tuner to come to Australia that would be a must buy for me!

They would have to make one that supports Australian TV standards - DVB-T?

Or maybe the mobile digital DVB-H???

Ever since the rumour started I've been holding out for this announcement, meaning I only have to wait a couple of months to play my 4 PSP games.

Sounds good, I'm holding off any kind of PSP purchase until this gets released, since it sounds like a good improvement over the original. TV out is awesome! The DS really needs the same.

Can anyone actually find an online store, preferable play asia, where I can pre-order the battlefront bundle? I really want my Star Wars PSP!!

Tv Out now thats sweet, nearly tempting enough to re-buy the system but to be sure I think ill wait for a while after its release to see what the other announcements are. Hopefully some amazing new games.
