Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII to be 100 hours long

PSP News | 30hrs worth of core gameplay, 70hrs worth of side quests.
In an interview with Japanese magazine Dengeki PlayStation, Square Enix employees Hajime Tabata and Tetsuya Nomura have disclosed further details for the upcoming Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, including the approximate game length.

Tabata believes that general playtime should last for roughly 30hours, but when trying to recover all of the materia and going out into Midgar for side quests, he expects the game could last for over 100hours. Crisis Core is apparently 90% complete, and the game’s size is unlike any other handheld game ever released, according to the pair.

In addition, the pair revealed that Limit Breaks will level up, players will be able to combine two materias and that each character will have a special memory fragment related to them. Furthermore, Crisis Core's soundtrack will consist of several original songs from Final Fantasy VII, but will also include plenty of new songs that stick to the roots of the original.

Stay tuned for more on Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII as we slowly approach its Japanese release later in the year.

I remember reading that FFVII had '140 hours' worth of gameplay... so I'll remain a skeptic and say 'na-uh' icon_wink.gif

Crisis Core is sounding pretty slick though. I've kid of gone off RPG games lately, but this might be the one to draw me back in (or Blue Dragon, or Eternal Sonata...)

yea ... 100 hours usually means a lot less, maybe 40 at best imo - but that's still a really good thing

that's when they quote the total of side quests + campaign that you can dock off a few hours.

But when they come out and say that its 70hrs of side quests, its usually about right.

I am crazy excited about this game. FFVII is my all time favourite game (its okay Secret of Mana, you come close), so ....yeah.

As for FFVII not being 140hours... yeah right! My sister and I both have saved games that are well over the 99 hours 59 minutes it records up to. Still have some stuff to do...

I wish I was 10 years younger - i would have the time to play these games. The last long game I finished was FFX - and that was what like 5 years ago?

luckilly this is portable icon_smile.gif and please don't take me wrong - a good 40 hour RPG is more than welcome on the PSP - I just find it hard to beleive gametime quotes from any company....

Crystal Dynamics got it pretty right with Legacy of Kain, it was about 100 hours (mainly because you were waiting around for the day to change so you could get into a secret cave).
