Driver returns
PSP News | First Driver game under Ubisoft headed for PSP.
It's been six months since Ubisoft acquired the Driver franchise from Atari, and finally the French developer and publisher is looking to give its new licence a run-out on the PSP. Say hello then to Driver 76, an action/driving sandbox game that's being jointly developed by Ubi's Reflections studio and Sumo Digital (the folks behind the awesomely good OutRun 2: Coast 2 Coast).
Set in New York in 1976 (and featuring an "authentic '70s soundtrack"), Driver 76 will offer a central storyline (27 missions), as well as side missions, mini-games and multiplayer gameplay, though we've not been given any indication over how many players can take part. There's also plans afoot to offer players downloadable content.
Due out in March, we'll see shortly enough if Reflections and Sumo Digital have what it takes to recuperate this most flagging of franchises.
