Burnout Dominator announced

PSP News | Exclusive to the PlayStation 2 and PSP. Updated with first images.
EA has announced via a press release that they're bringing Burnout Dominator to the PlayStation 2 and the PSP. Burnout Dominator is a completely different game to Burnout 5, which will be making it's way to the XBox 360 and the PlayStation 3 next year.

Burnout Dominator is an all new installment of the Burnout franchise and will feature intense racing action and dozens of World Tour events. The game will challenge gamers to face off against a series of hot-blooded rivals; performing burnouts gives you the advantage and multiplies your score.

We'll have more information on Burnout Dominator before long and screenshots should be revealed shortly, so as soon as they are we'll report back.

Nice, I guess I'll get the PSP version if it comes out any good. Legends was good enough. So are those pics from PS2 or PSP?

From what I have heard so far about this game, it seems like Dominator is following the Burnout style of old (IE: Burnout 1 and 2) while Burnout 5 will continue the Takedown focused gameplay of Burnout 3 and Revenge.

I really love the old style of Burnout (and indeed the Takedown style too) so I am already quite interested in this new title. That said I noticed that it isn't being made by Criterion but rather one of EA's development studios. That may be something to be slightly worried about but then again I'm sure Criterion will at least have influence in the title. We'll see, I guess.

Sony only? No doubt it'll be a graphical masterpiece; nice to hear it's also using outdated styles too. icon_razz.gif Not that I'm jealous of the exclusivity or anything.

That info just adds to the excitment and worrying icon_razz.gif

If it is indeed the case then I'll look forward to producing awesome boost chains in the game (my record in Burnout 2 was 38, start to finish on Palm Bay Marina reverse).

Little miffed it is PS2 exclusive. I have the other 4 games on X-Box. It will seem out of place to have this one on PS2. I will still get it, of course. Burnout is the only Race game series I like.

^ The 360 is still getting Burnout 5. This just seems like some sort of spin-off.

It will be even more split for me. I have Burnout 1 and 2 on the Gamecube, Takedown and Revenge on the Xbox and soon I'll have Dominator on the PS2 (if it's reasonably decent) and Burnout 5 on the 360.
