Handhelds get new Star Wars game

PSP News | Cue lightsaber noises.
The PSP and DS have had their fair share of cut-down Star Wars ports, but Ubisoft has finally come to the rescue, announcing the first Star Wars title developed specifically for the two handheld consoles, Star Wars: Lethal Alliance. Ubisoft's Casablanca studios will be taking charge of the DS version of the game, whilst Ubisoft Montreal will look after PSP development.

The events that unfold in the game will take place between Episode III and Episode IV. Players control Rianna Saren, a Twi'lek, and her sidekick droid by the name of Zeeo. Apparently they've been hired by the Rebel Alliance to help in the fight against the Imperials, where they will ultimately discover the development of the Death Star.

It seems collaborative play will be a big part of the game, as both characters will need to be utilised in order to advance. Whether this means two players can play via Wi-Fi has yet to be confirmed, but seems very likely. Lethal Alliance is billed as an action-adventure game, which claims to have lots of guns, plenty of acrobatics from our heroine, vehicles and a few other little bits and pieces as well. Star Wars fans will be glad to know that many characters from the universe will be appearing in the game, such as Darth Vader, Boba Fett and Princess Leia.

All things going well, Ubisoft are planning to have Star Wars: Lethal Alliance on store shelves for a December release on both the PSP and DS. No DS screenshots have been shown as yet, but the first three PSP shots are in the media panel.

It sounds like it should be a great game. It'll be interesting to see the battle system and graphics. Would be nice to see the same kind of battle style as KOTOR 2.

I think that maybe a different approach would be good. I didnt like that system, and maybe on the DS one screen could be for shooting, maybe???

It depends on what type of game it will be. Weather it'll be an FPS or RPG or whatever.

I have to say I am looking forward to this. I wonder if this will be another Jedi game? It would be great for some online handheld action too.

If you want a good online Star Wars game go for Star Wars Galaxies.

Actually, scratch that. It used to be good. But with the "New Game Enhancements" it turned to crap.
