News on Vice City Stories

PSP News | For all those '80s guys.
Given the worldwide success of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories for the PSP, and now the PS2, it's no surprise that Rockstar is hard at work on the second portable GTA game - Vice City Stories. While everyone is still playing Liberty City, Rockstar has speedily announced the US release date and confirmed box art for the PSP title.

The box art confirms the presence of two characters from the PS2 Vice City; Big Mitch Baker and Umberto Robina. Both of these characters delegated missions to Tommy Vercetti, the playable character in the PS2 title. Much like in GTA III, Tony Cipriani was a mission man for the anonymous lead, and in Liberty City Stories became the playable character. It is still unknown if either Baker or Robina will be the lead, yet they will certainly make a prominent appearance.

All of the PSP/PS2/Vice/Liberty references and intertwining stories get a tad heavy, but here are the cold hard facts - Vice City Stories will be released in the US on October 20, and speculating from the original release dates announced by Rockstar at E3, only slightly changed this time around, the PAL release will come very shortly after.

Rockstar also mentioned that the price for Vice City Stories in the US will be $49.99, the standard full price for a new release PS2 or XBox title. Given standard game conversion rates, this could mean up to a full $100 in Australia, by far the most expensive PSP title to date. However, given the successful sales of the budget PS2 Liberty City Stories port, we will almost certainly see a PS2 Vice City Stories release somewhere down the line - and probably at a cheaper price than the PSP version.

Those interested in the upcoming title have no shortage of roads back into Vice City!

I don't know why a lot of people like San Andreas, but my favorite is Vice City.

Probably because it had the best radio, a better storyline and generally wasn't a joke like SA.

VC:S is one of few titles that make me want a PSP...

Vice City is definately my favourite. There are a few reasons (imo)...

Tommy Vercetti = Ray Liotta!
80's = When I was born
80's = The best music ever!
80's = Stuff was still cool
80's = Stuff could still be original

Also the game seems to be loosley based on the movie's like scarface and shows like Miami Vice...which is perfect for cops and robbers style games.

Any word on San Andreas Stories?

Now that might be a problem. SA really pushed the PS2 to the max, but I suppose with a few tweaks (ie. downgrades) here and there it might be possible on the PSP.

Leave SA alone I reckon...it will definately be pushing the PSP...same applies to Oblivion.

I do really like the music from Vice City. Makes me play just to hear the music.

I have the soundtracks to all the GTA's and trust me there is nothing better to listen to in the car than the music from the Vice City soundtrack (except Kenny Loggin's - Highway to the Dangerzone) imo.
