PSP's Mercury gets a sequel

PSP News | State-of-the-art blob physics, it says here.
PSP launch dark horse Archer MacLean's Mercury, which earned a healthy 7.5 in our review, is set to get a sequel. Entitled Mercury Meltdown, the follow-up is expected to appear around September in Europe (and hence probably Australia also), and will once again see players guiding blobs of liquid Mercury around infuriating 3D mazes.

Developer Awesome Studios (the studio behind the first game) has seen fit to modify the gameplay slightly, with the liquid Mercury ‘blob’ itself being given an overhaul; now, your blob will switch between four varying ‘states’ – Normal, Solid, Fast and Slow. There's a considerable increase in levels as well - over 160 - and new levels will be downloadable via www.yourpsp.com after the game has released. There's even a wireless two-player mode planned for this one, and the new cel-shaded visuals are probably worth a mention also.

For the first screens, head to the Media Panel.

Mercury was the first game I ever played on a psp. The guy working at JB's let me have a go for a few minutes, itwas pretty interesting. I wouldn't actually pay for a game like this though. I've rented Super Monkey Ball on GC before, but that had some mini-games etc. and a monkey in a ball!
