Pre E3 2006: BattleZone coming to the PSP

PSP News | Another modern day update coming to the PSP.
Atari have announced today that BattleZone is currently in development for the PSP. The old arcade and Atari 2600 game surrounded players with a shroud of constant enemies, so it was basically mindless action. The slightly more recent PC version, despite not being bad, has been completely forgotten.

The PSP version will be set in futuristic international military environments, putting the player in control of manoeuvrable hover tanks and challenging them in close combat scenarios against their rivals. The game includes eight unique customisable team vehicles, high powered weapons and multiplayer battles. The game supports up to four players through WiFi and there will be unlockable weapons, vehicles and upgrades.

BattleZone provides players with six popular and well-known game modes, including Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Team Deathmatch, Hotzone, Knockout, and Fox and Hound. For casual gamers, the single player mode offers an easy learning curve for pick-up and play gaming and a tournament progression to win upgrades and enhancements.

It sounds okay, but it's early days yet. Atari have included the latest images, which can be found in the media panel.
