Just watched the trailer, it looks good. I just hope there's no slow texture loading on the PSP. (maybe that's too much to hope for... icon_confused.gif )

A GTA game that gets us back out of that stupid ghetto theme...

Interesting.

The "stupid ghetto" them was bloody awesome! Gave rockstar a great opportunity to use an awesome voice acting cast. Eg. Samuel L Jackson. I think it was a great change to the GTA serries. IMO it was the best GTA ever!

Good theme > voice acting cast.

There was a serious lack of city terrain in San Andreas, with far too much rural and suburban land. The first city alone had a dominance of suburban terrain, which sucked.

That's the style they were going for, moving out of the city and going rural. Yes I will agree some of the missions were bloody annoying driving for such a long time!

Maybe, but I don't think so, since I played the GTA serries since number 1 and actually have bought each copy and playing through each one entirely (except San Andreas, too much stuff to search for, horseshoes etc.). It's great to see how the game has evolved, that's why I think quite a few people rate it.

Quoted for emphasis.

I never liked it for mainly one reason:
Me:What are you doing?
Freind:Oh, I'm getting my health back.
Me:Oh, aren't there health packs or something? icon_confused.gif
Freind:No, you just kill them to get the money back.
Me:icon_eek.gif That's just wrong on so many levels.

Ah, horses for courses I guess - I've no right to criticise anyone for liking it. I just find the 3D GTA games a bit too much - crappy camera, a fundamentally retarded combat system, and way too much content to result in a focussed game. I prefer the 2D games to be honest - well, they're better games from a design point of view, IMO. Doesn't matter what I say though, they'll always scores 9s and 10s.

I don't like them much either. I'm sure people are going to say Total Overdose is a complete clone of GTA but I have enjoyed it immensely over the GTA series, and while San Andreas didn't appeal at all, Saint's Row is really attractive.

Total Overdose on first impression looked like a shoddy action knockoff, but apparently it's a very excellent game from initial reviews. As opposed tothe GTA series, I hated the on-foot controls. Even by the third PS2 game they hadn't made firefights the least bit fun due to to the terrible manual aim. The lock on system was also garbage.

Well good to know that some Aussies will be able to purchase the game when it releases. Chances are it will be banned by the time I'm ready...

Come on, there can't be any doubt that your stay in San Andreas will uneventful, especially with the cheat codes activated! A friend came over the other day and we started a fresh new game. 3 hours of insane rampaging later we were trying to recreate the bicycle flying past the moon moment from ET by using the 'bubblecars' cheat. I have to say everyone involved was in stitches at the numerous attempts to get this to work. How many games allow you to create your own hilarious situations where the possibilities are only marred by your imagination and creativity?

San Andreas is sandbox gaming at it's absolute best and I can't see how a few hardly noticable issues can hold back the amount of fun that can be gained from playing it!

I should note that we didn't even complete a single story mission in our many hours of play. Another highlight of our visit: taking a bicycle to the top of Mount Chiliad and launching off of the peak at full speed with the 'huge bunny hop' cheat activated. Insane fun.

I respect all of your opinions but I can't understand how anybody couldn't have enjoyed playing this game!

Oh yeah, like some things do give me the sh!ts about the game, eg what you have stated and I do rate number 1 and 2 higher than any of the 3D versions!

The main issue i have with the 3D GTA games is their control. It sucks and it sucks big time. How can a game be so highly rated and have such sloppy, incoherent and poor control?
I played GTA3 on the PC and found the control was fine. Vice City on Xbox worked nicely too. Then they totally broke that control system for SA on Xbox and made it a horrid game to control icon_sad.gif

Well...
In terms of enjoyment.

I bought GTA3 ages ago, and played it SO much - I loved the freedom that the game offered.
Then I got GTA:VC, and played it and played it... but started to get bored with it...
Finally I bought GTA:VC... within 3 days of buying the final game I sold all three.

I guess it just wore thin on me.
Started out fun, but ended up not my cup of tea.
But that's just me.

I don't like the 3D version either, mainly because they moved away from the suggested theme of the game (car-jacking), to pointless violence.

IMO GTA:SA was always going to be the highest selling GTA game, so many people I know want to be just like the main character.

I'd like a decent frame rate. I would much rather have had a high frame-rate game than be able to play crappy 'video games' or poorly simulated pool in GTA:SA.

I can't wait for the day that a sandbox game comes out which isn't all about killing and stealing.

Unfortunately, it would sell really poorly :/
