#5: A Platformer: There are a couple on the system already, like Ape Escape: On the Loose and Death Jr. but from all accounts, it's nothing substantial. Daxter from Jak & Daxter has already been pigeon-holed for his own game so now maybe they'll put Clank from Ratchet and Clank on his own?

The main issue with 3-D platformers is that the camera is always going to be an issue. So why not make some traditional 2-D platforming action. This would be perfect for a Castlevania title, possibly a sequel to the legendary Symphony of the Night

So what do we want: Castlevania

#4: A Fighter: The PSP is would make excellent console for tradtional brawlers. The controller layout is good enough to harbour any of the modern fighting game’s needs. With the only title currently available being Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower, it makes us a little weary that there really aren't that many titles in the works. Well if the GBA is good enough to get a Tekken game and if the DS good enough for Soul Calibur(apparently) than the PSP is as well.

Mortal Kombat: Deception and Street Fighter Alpha are on the way. However, a Tekken, Soul Calibur or even a Virtua Fighter would make us very happy. The fighting genre deserves to be as well represented on the PSP as the racing genre has been so far.

So what do we want: Tekken, Soul Calibur and Virtua Fighter (either or all)

#3: A shooter title: Coded Arms took a shoot and looks like it missed. The only other confirmed titles on the way are the gritty Western-themed Gun and the oddly intriguing Infected. What looks to be the major hurdle with this type of game is the control scheme, a second analog button is sorely missed.

However, the much chastised Metroid Prime control scheme would probably work reasonably well for the PSP. Sure, we're not going to see Metroid on the PSP(well, not legally) but some originallity and wireless internet play will go a long way.

Still, a lot of us were still able to enjoy Goldeneye and Perfect Dark with the solitary analog stick, so there is no reason why either a Metroid-style or a truncated traditional control can’t work.

So what do we want: Metroid! Well OK, that won't happen but anything that will satisfy our need for destruction on the go with friends will do fine.
#2: An action game: Sure, Metal Gear Acid is cool, Dynasty Warriors is OK, Dead to Rights sucks, Devil May Cry and Crisis Core are in the works though a long way away and you’ve got a few games that have cars mounted with machine guns and rocket launchers. But something that’s been really missing from handheld gaming, primarily due to system limitations, is a good and honest action game.

With the PSP, the advent of a proper action title is actually possible. Just so long as the developers are able get around the controller, camera and the fact that we’d also like to blow up things on the go. Something that you can just tot around with some sort of destructive weapon and create a bit of anarchy, or even to sneak around in a conventional stealth manner. Liberty City Stories may just be the way to go, then you’ve got all your inevitable franchise knock-offs of the future but hey, we’re sure someone’s got something substantial planned for us.
So what do we want: Dante, Snake, Sam, Kratos, Marvel heros/villains or just about anyone that doesn’t blatantly look to knock off a franchise or two.

#1: A Tradtional Square RPG: The name Playstation was built of the Square title of Final Fantasy and Enix originated Dragon Quest and many other RPG's. When Nintendo lost them, they lost a hell of a lot of market with as well. But why haven't we seen them (let alone any traditional RPG) on Playstation's little brother?

Mind you Japan have a fair few but there aren’t really any that have been scheduled as definite for a western release (that are worth paying attention to, mind you). Since it looks like Crisis Core - Final Fantasy VII will not fit into this category, Advent Children isn’t a game and the actual playable offerings look meagre, I think we’re entitled to be a little worried. The question is, where the heck are my RPG’s?

Honestly though, given that RPG’s have historically found a home on handheld consoles and on Sony systems, I guess you can think that with the PSP, the sky’s the limit! Could Cloud be the PSP's prodigal son, or could it even be Crono?

So what do we want: Final Fantasy VII–2/spin-off, the sequel to Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross or any other traditional turn-based RPG from Square. We’ll take them all!
