New WipEout Pure content released

PSP News | Tracks and skins.
From tomorrow, there's going to be a selection of new tracks and interface re-skins made available for Sony's excellent PlayStation Portable racer, WipEout Pure. Owners of a PSP and an American copy of Studio Liverpool's game will be able to download 'Gamma pack 2', even if you're one of of those evil, hellbound individuals who imported one of the Sony handhelds.

Once downloaded, Gamma Pack 2 offers players two new tracks - Ubermall (set in a shopping centre, though youths in hoodies are nowhere to be seen) and Extostra Run (which runs through a factory, apparently). There's a few new skins as well, if you're getting tired of the old menus. We're also reliably informed that those crazy types at Sony are re-releasing Gamma Pack 1. We don't have a clue why right now, but when installed it will overwrite the original on the memory card.

And for those living under rocks, WipEout Pure will be making it's PAL debut on September 1st, alongside the launch of the PSP hardware itself.

At what time will it be released? I have not seen anything yet.

It doesn't seem to be up yet. Oh well I hadn't grabbed Gamma Pack 1 so I've been playing around with the additions contained in that.

I'm lazy and haven't exactly read up on it. How exactly does the PSP download content for its games?

You can connect to a wireless point and the game loads up a homepage (specific to the game) and you just download it through there on to the memory stick. Or you can just download it onto your PC and upload it via the USB cable or straight onto the memory stick if you have a card reader. Its all pretty easy, best way I find is just downloading it via a wireless point.

Well its up now for those who are in need of it. The two new tracks are quite cool, however I found them pretty easy, already got gold on both, for Vector->Flash on Single Race. Can't seem to get gold on Ubermall time trial Flash class though. I keep crashing on the second lap screwing up my time. Barely touched Rapier class yet, so I don't know how I'll fair on that.
