With the amazing success of the Grand Theft Auto franchise on the consoles and PC, it was only a matter of time before Rockstar North began work on a PSP version of the title. Unfortunately for us fans, the only tidbit of information we've had so far is that the game is entitled Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories. While the game was absent at E3, the Official Playstation Magazine (UK version) has revealed the first details of what is arguably the most anticipated PSP title to date.
- The main character is Tony Cipriani
- It's set in 1998
- Several characters from GTA 3 return
- You can load MP3s off the memory stick for the radio
- Packages, Jumps and Rampages are in all new locations
- Flying vehicles haven't been decided on - hardware (probably battery time) is considered a limiting factor
- The San Andreas aiming system is in
- Bikes and other vehicles from the later GTA games are in
- The city looks a little different because of the earlier setting
- Missions will be shorter because of the portable format
- There will be more missions than GTA 3
The release date is set for sometime between September and November, most likely the series' traditional October release date. PALGN will have more in-depth coverage of Liberty City Stories in the coming months.
