Dissidia 012[duodecim] Final Fantasy Australian release detailed

PSP News | If you know your Latin, the title really does make perfect sense.
Final Fantasy fans waiting for another chance to beat up their favourite characters don't have much longer to wait, as Square Enix today announced its Australian release plans for its latest game; the name that rolls right off the tongue, Dissidia 012[duodecim] Final Fantasy for PSP.

The new Dissidia will be released on 24 March 2011 in Australia and 25 March 2011 in New Zealand in two editions. In addition to the standard retail release, there will also be a special Legacy Edition, that contains the following:

  • A copy of Dissidia 012[duodecim] Final Fantasy
  • Exclusive downloadable costumes for Tifa and Squall
  • Six Deluxe Character Lithograph Art Prints
  • Exclusive white packaging with exclusive Legacy Edition sleeve artwork
  • A voucher to claim a 50% discount off the purchase of the original Final Fantasy from the PlayStation Store.

Square Enix also announced that a character tournament will be taking place, starting today and continuing for eight weeks. Fans can vote on which characters they want to win each of the rounds, and Square Enix will produce videos showing that battle and the chosen result on their official site and Facebook page. To check it out, head to Square Enix's website or Facebook.

Being the Final Fantasy fanboy that I am, even I'm unimpressed with the Dissidia series. A few hours with it and I knew not to bother with it again.

I still get annoyed by how girly they made Cloud, squall and Zidane in the first game grr

I personally loved the first game and can't wait for this one. I do wish it was on a home console like the PS3 as it's a bit too much for a portable console screen to handle...

Still, can't wait icon_biggrin.gif Not sure if I'll pre-order the LE though. They're just never worth the extra money... plus I don't have any money for games atm icon_lol.gif

Oh, and seeing as the PSP has typically been the top selling console as of late in Japan, yes they're still making alot of games for the PSP icon_wink.gif

I might buy it when it's dirt cheap. I am curious however about those lithograph prints. Are the six pictured in the screenshot the only prints? Or do you get six random prints? Seems odd to me that instead of huge fan favourites like Cloud and Sephiroth we get Vaan and Lightning.

They're new characters to Dissidia so I'd say that's why they're using Vaan and Lightning rather than the old favourites...

Hopefully the collectors edition doesn't become an EB exclusive again
