Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep is set long before Sora was chosen to wield his Keyblade in the original Kingdom Hearts. It follows the story of Terra, Aqua and Ventus as they train and strive to prove that they also exhibit the 'Mark of Mastery' and the right to wield their own Keyblades. The three suddenly find themselves in the middle of a multi-world crisis when another Keyblade master, Xehanort, suddenly disappears.
The gameplay is similar to previous Kingdom Hearts games, where you are free to roam and battle in various worlds set in the Disney universe using a variety of Keyblades, abilities and spells. A new 'Dimension Link' ability allows you to call any previous characters you have met in worlds and borrow their abilities.
It will include three separate single player story modes, each following one of the three main characters and also four multiplayer modes, which allow you to play with up to six players wirelessly.
Multiplayer modes are:
- Versus Mode: An all out battle where it's every person for themselves.
- Arena Mode: Join forces with your friends to defeat wave upon wave of enemies.
- Rumble Racing: Ride your transformed Keyblade in hover raves.
- Command Board: A Game of Strategy where up to three players compete by rolling dice.
