So my Wii is to be sent off for repairs today. Bought on launch day in 2006 and broke last Thursday. Girlfriend brought home Wii Sports Resort, the disc told me I had to update the console before I could play it. Ran the update off the disc, update completed pressed continue and ran into a black screen that would not do anything.

5 minutes later I decided to try and eject the disc, nothing happens and after powering it off and back on to get the disc out the Wii powers on and than does boot. Obviously bricked firmware but made even worse when the update was ran off the Nintendo made game disc.

So i'm considering going back to Wowcrack but haven't got the bloody thing installed anymore.

Is there a more efficient way of installing Vanilla and BC up to date without using the blizzard installer? Like just direct downloading core patches that will bump my versions up to easier to update versions?

Got it to work, I had really old versions of Gpsp and Snes9xTyl and got new versions and put them in my GAME folder and it works all good now.

I know it's a little bit of a hijack but it is relevant to this discussion and is some what on topic.

I just got a PSP with CFW on it, it is 4.01 M33 - 2. So if I run network update it will install the newest CFW without me screwing around with it or doing anything else? What are the exact steps to install the new CFW through network update?

Next question, I'm trying to get Gpsp and Snes9xTYL to work on my PSP but I have no clue where to put the folders on it. Anyone know where I put the folders to run the homebrew? Gpsp version 0.9 and Snes9xTYL 0.4.2. As I said i'm running CFW 4.01 M33 - 2 at the moment.

I don't think you understand what he means.

Skiller is saying that he would pay for a version that say had been hacked to remove the DRM. So say the developers themselves hacked it and sold it to him he would pay for that rather than a free retail version with DRM.

He is not saying he wants the game for free.

I was actually excited for this, My Metallic Blue DS Phat is getting way old now but this region specific has just lost themselves a sale. The whole reason the DS gets love is because you can import games from other areas, now this... Not impressed at all.

3 megapixel camera on the outside, a smaller camera on the hinge on the inside. The SD card slot, the bigger screens and the ability to download stuff from your Wii and play it on the DS are huge pros for me. As ill be keeping my old DS phat the loss of the GBA slot is no problem to me.

Bought it online from a reputable Australian game-selling website.

Australia Post Registered delivery and supposedly it has been signed for and delivered to me. Yeah... umm nope I don't have it. Yet we got another parcel from another company so it isn't like they don't know where we live.

Called Aus Post and the website and they are currently preparing their heat seeking butt finding missiles for the contractor that delivers in my area.

Hopefully I get it with the codes all fine and stuff, also hoping this was an accident and not deliberate stealing it.

Anyone else had problems getting their CE delivered?

I'm still not excited about the collector's edition, regardless of the fact that WAR has my heart.

Though the art book could be cool.

The ping is great.

Though im unsure about the fact that Standard Edition peeps are getting into the Head Start tonight. Worried that Darklands is going to constantly have a queue.

Hoping for after the first week of release, for transfers so that we don't have clogged servers.

Love your posts ObsoletE,

Yeah I left WoW for a few reasons but the main ones being lack of time to spend in it (when you need a lot to contribute) and a major factor of being on a PvP server with a high ratio of dickheads to normal people. Also being a shaman who had raided successfully in each of the three specs but mainly liking to enhancement meant I got a lot higher share of the dickheads attacking me.

I once had a frost mage rip on me for a) being a shaman b) being enhancement and c) being australian.... no kidding. The guy then proceeded to say how much better he was at dpsing than I ever would be. The fool shut up when I was top 3 and he was beaten by the tank but hey dickheads never learn.

So far through playing Closed Beta, Preview Weekend and Open Beta the community is pretty good but I'm going to be picking a Core ruleset on War's launch. Though highly unlikely, I would totally love to play the game with minimum dickheads but hey I can hopelessly dream right?

Well actually Mark Jacobs (Head Developer of Mythic/WAR) has a blog now where he posts up his thoughts. An interesting read that if WAR doesn't succeed (Succeed not beat WoW) then the whole MMO genre could be just a 1 horse race and developers will not waste money on trying new ideas within the MMO industry.

I started this whole thread to share my experiences and to drum up some support for a game that is to be released soon. And most of this has turned into a flame war.

You don't like Warcraft, you don't like Warcraft. You don't like Warhammer, fair enough. Just stay in your respective corners.

Now some new news, Another Preview Weekend is on this weekend before Open Beta gates are opened. Sounds like fun, I'll play some and give some more reports and some screenies or something.

Actually it was I who said it MIkes, but I know what you mean.

Alot of people want WAR to be great as they are sick of alot of things that annoy them with WoW and Blizzard.

I think the game plays great and can't wait for release the only thing I'm worried about is Class Racism from the WoW fans coming into the game demanding that anyone with a heal button has to heal and nothing else. (Alot of topics on WarhammerAlliance in the Discple and Warrior Priest forums are turning up and arguments happening lately)

Does every thread about MMO games have to become WoW is the best or <insert new mmo> is a WoW killer war of words. Mythic themselves have admitted that they don't want it to kill WoW and was never designed to do so. It is a niche type of MMO, and is meant to supplement or be on par with WoW.

There are 3 factions on each Realm,

Order = Empire, Dwarfs and High Elves
Destruction = Greenskins, Dark Elves and Chaos

You can goto the other zones and fight whereever you want, you can have a party with dwarfs and you're empire.

Each Race has there own specific classes.

So the Dwarf and High Elf tanks work completely different etc.

The Destruction and Order have mirroring classes so the Greenskins Shaman works like and is the mirror of the High Elf Archmage. But the mirroring classes have slight mechanic tweaks so that they don't feel too samey.

I didn't see many magus' around, but I do know fighting one on one with them I could beat them down without much effort.

From asking around though people say the pet AI is pretty bugged atm and the Magus is getting a look at from Mythic. The daemons didn't really bother me at all and the Magus didn't seem to dish out much with his pets bugging.

But take heart, Mythic takes things very seriously and this hopefully will be fixed before the preview weekend tomorrow where more news can come out.

Since the NDA has been lifted I thought I might share alittle.

I got in only recently with the Oceanic Wave, so compared to some of the stories I won't be as detailed or know indepth beta information. But here is some of my stuff.

I created a Warrior Priest, as I love my support classes in video games, and after hitting Rank 19 last night. I am still having fun, the ability to damage and heal and to feel useful is amazing. The righteous fury mechanic is great, if I don't heal and I spam attacks I run out of action points, but if I heal and don't damage I run out of Righteous Fury. A good combination of the two leaves me with enough of each resource pool to be effective.

I found a group and we explored under Altdorf in a section of the sewers, it was a PVE encounter against Skaven. The pulls were about 2 skaven each time. The group consisted of myself, an archmage, a rune priest, an engineer, and 2 ironbreakers. It took us some time to get into the swing of things with the two tanks working together to hold aggro on the two mobs but we got there. I didn't need to heal so much as I had one of the tanks as my defensive target and I buffed him. Normally with a HOT and Sigmar's fist (+ strength, but when tacticed + strength and toughness) it also helped with Divine Assault (an attack over four seconds where every swing gives the defensive target 250% of the damage as healing) so it was really enjoyable. The boss was a mutated huge Skaven beast, though weirdly he didn't drop any loot. But we didn't mind it was still fun. We cleared that section of the sewers and headed out.

After heading out we decided since we had 6 people to create a guild, and as of this moment our guild has about 25 people and sitting on about Guild Rank 8. The standard system is fun, helps in a battle and the guild when we go out RvRing and Keep capturing has a blast. Though our little dwarf brother almost lost the Standard twice, we never got it captured as our group made certain of it.

Now at the end of my tale something that happened yesterday. Our guild went out keep capturing in Dwarven Tier 2, we took the Keep in the Marshes of Madness and than the one in Barack Varr. But as we took the Barack one destruction took the Marshes of Madness one and as we started to head out of our newly claimed Keep we found a large group of Destruction ready to take ours back.

A battle started, They set up catapults, we readied for them, someone ran for the oil thrower, another set up an elven ballista and our dwarven standard bearer ran up top and created an empire hellblaster. The destruction started their assault, several our tanks ran out to meet them while the siege weapons helped thin out some of their ranks. Any destruction that ran for the keep door found out that Oil + Skin = world of hurt. But this didn't last for long, as the destruction took out our Oil thrower and then Rammed open our keep door. Everyone fell back to protect the keep lord and ready for the destruction assault.

As the destruction ran up the narrow stair case, several of our tanks clogged it with healers keeping them up and our casters taking out their healers when something unexpected happened. Half our warband Crash to desktop, the 5 or so of us that were left started to get worried with 12+ destruction now in the keep. They pulled the keep lord and started to take him down, but we decided to not give up hope and the people who didn't CTD rallied and took out their healers causing the group to wipe with the Keep Lord smashing them down. As this occurred our Warband people who CTDed reentered the game, as the destruction came charging back up the keep pathway to get back in, our keep doors were still busted. Our tanks filled the doorway and our healers healed them, this worked till the dps got too heavy and our tanks fell.

I saw that they would get in if I did not step up, so I ran to the doorway swinging my hammer, getting heals and healing myself just enough to keep alive but not full health, I was going down, too many black orcs in my face. As I was about to fall and the Destruction were to get into the keep, the doors respawned keeping them out and myself on the inside. I got my heals and this whole thing started again.

The destruction never made it inside, they bloody well tried to, catapults and all, and it was alot of fun. This took about an hour and a half to two hours of play time and was a total blast.

Overall I love the game, my brother and girlfriend are in the closed beta as well, and love it too. I will be staying for launch and hoping for good things from this game.

Sorry to steal your thunder MIkes, but after seeing it last night, I just had to pass the news on somewhere to get the hype machine up.

The most interesting part was Mark Jacobs postings on the Warhammer Alliance forums about Collector's edition pre order people will be entered into the Closed Beta next week. And as the US and Oceania is the same thing, I can't wait!

Now I can't wait for the "Open' beta date to be released.

I just upgraded my pc to an AMD Phenom QuadCore 9750 in the last week, Got to say im extremely impressed with the performance.

That is a damn good pc, the ram is a nice speed, decent Gfx card in there and a nice sized harddrive.

If the company reputable, I would pay the money and then get yourself an operating system.

Looks like i'm not updating my wii. Had an imported SSBB and Freeloader for about 2 months now and i'm not shelling out another $100 just to keep playing the game. They can shove it as far as i'm concerned.
