My big two for this generation are Assassin's Creed and Dead Space (with AC slightly in front). Not only do I love the gameplay and worlds of these franchises, but I love the way they have crossed over into other media so well too.

My other favourites would include: Uncharted, Batman: Arkham, Bioshock and Gears of War.

Ok so playing through Batman AC an I am thouroughly enjoying it but it really has a Assassins Creed feel about it now, I mean I love AC but Batman AA made me feel like Bruce than what AC is atm, hopefuly things change but tbh if they keep going down this path I think AC Revelations will out shine it in the free roaming department!
I have to agree with the similar feel to AC. I get the exact same feeling from the game, but I think it comes from the way movement flows over the open world and the similarities between Batman and Ezio/Altair. The AC games are my favourite series of this generation though, so having a Batman game follow that path is not the worst thing that could happen. IMHO icon_biggrin.gif.
Just came back from picking at the still twitching corpse of my local Angus & Robertson.

Picked up:

Two Asian Kitchens (Masterchef Season 2 Winner's book) $49.95 -> $7.49
Masterchef Cookbook Volume 2 $25.99 -> $3.90
Live Wire by Harlen Coben (for my Dad) $32.99 -> $8.25
Hell's Corner by David Baldacci (for my Dad) $32.99 -> $8.25
Irons in the Fire by Russell Brand $38.99 -> $5.85
Android Karenina (Quirk Classics) $ 9.49 -> $2.37

Total Price $190.40 -> $36.11

Place was packed with people walking around with arm fulls of books. Could have grabbed a few more, but still too far from pay day...
Just registered my copy on Club Nintendo Australia. CD is ordered and should be received within 8 weeks.

WOOHOO!!!!!
Finished the single player of Medal of Honor (2010) on PS3. Actually really enjoyed the game and didn't experience any game-breaking bugs, but the sound was at a very low volume especially the voices. I had to turn subtitles on just so I could follow the orders given to me.

Otherwise I really enjoyed the game and would recommend it if it can be picked up cheap (too short for full price and multiplayer is probably pretty barren.)

Picked up my copy today, and somehow got a massive poster, a t-shirt and a book too
Where from? I wasn't aware of any books...
Just wondering if anyone who got the XBOX or PC versions of the Collector's Edition could make a high-res scan of the soundtrack cover for me to embed with the rip of my PS3 version's soundtrack. I've only been able to find fairly low-res copies online.

Thanks in advance if anyone can do this.

At least the lines are short though.

It would also appear that they are now exclusively using water cooling... icon_razz.gif

One thing I've been wondering, where did the wall of water that hit toowomba actually come from?
Being at the top of a mountain, we don't receive run off from anywhere. We had had solid rain over the preceeding weeks and it managed to totally saturate the ground. All it took was a widespread heavy downpour and as Toowoomba's creeks run through the bottom of it, all the water ran from the high points to the creeks and created the "tsunami".

When it all merged at the lower end of town and then ran down the mountain it grew to the massive scale that hit Murphy's Creek, Withcott, Helidon< grantham and Gatton. It was so powerful it annihilated everything in its path.
I was incredibly lucky this year.

From my wife and kids I received:

Alien Anthology Blu-ray
Avatar Extended Edition Blu-ray
Back to the Future Trilogy Blu-ray
The IT Crowd Season 3 DVD
The IT Crowd Season 4 DVD
Salt Blu-ray (I had bought this for my wife too icon_biggrin.gif)
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Blu-ray
Scrubs Season 9 DVD
Tomorrow When the War Began Blu-ray
Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare PS3
Russell Brand: My Booky Wook 2 Book
Stephen King: Full Dark, No Stars Book

From my parents:

A stand with wheels for the Webber Q BBQ they bought me last Christmas.

My favourite thing I got today though was the Christmas card that my 3 year-old daughter had written herself./ Absolutely blew me away that she was capable of writing so legibly.
My firend has been looking for months for a Ben10 Omnitrix watch for her son. She'd tried evry shop in town numerous times, but had had no luck.

She wasn't winning any on ebay either.

Walking through Myer today I thought I'd look at the Lego and while I was there I noticed exactly what she was looking for on a Clearance Table.

It was labelled at $45 with 50% off, but when it scanned it came to 16.85 (50% off $33.70).

Apparently she is absolutely beside herself as she was about to start bidding upto $70 on ebay for them.

I love it when things are just meant to work out...
Re: Your newest purchase (3 years ago)
Picked up Red Dead Redemption PS3 at EB but got it pricematched to JB: $82.

The weird thing is mine has a completely different cover to any that I have seen, it's a combination of the original cover that was displayed and what they eventually shipped.

It's the red colour of the final shipping version, but with Marston wearing a hat and holding a six-shooter instead of a shotgun. The logo is also up the top above the pistol.

I haven't been able to find a picture of a similar copy on the net and was wondering if anyone else had one like this...

Will try and post a photo later, but I want to give it a shot first.
Re: Your newest purchase (3 years ago)
Been a while since I posted in here...

Just grabbed the latest As I Lay Dying CD today: The Powerless Rise
$22.99 @ JB HiFi
Re: Your newest purchase (3 years ago)
Went to Harvey Norman to look for some $5 games. They didn't have anything decent left, so the wife said 'Let's look at TVs that's less boring.'

Came home with a Panasonic 54" Plasma and a 160GB TiVo.
Just saw it for sale at $99.95 in GameTraders Toowoomba.
Saw a copy sold under-the-counter in Toowoomba today too.
Yesterday after my son's funeral I was amazed that I could smile and laugh with family and friends.

I didn't think that would be how I would feel after saying "see you later" to my boy, but we had a beautiful ceremony and a huge turnout. I was blown away at how many people one seven month old child could touch.

Re: Christmas presents (3 years ago)
Didn't realise it at the time, but it was having Christmas with our son who passed away this morning. Little fella's life was a struggle from day one and he held on long enough to give us a Christmas with him.

All the other stuff just pales into insignificance now.

The Answer beat me by $4
Don't want to gloat (OK kind of do), but I can beat that:

Managed to pick up seven PS3 games for $82.50 at Cash Converters on Saturday. They had 50% off all PS3 games.

Conan – $10
Skate – $10
GRID – $10
Burnout Paradise – $12.50
Need for Speed – ProStreet – $12.50
Mercenaries 2 – $12.50
Far Cry 2 – $15 (Keeping this one)

Traded in Conan, Need for Speed and Burnout at JB for Modern Warfare 2.
Then traded MW2 @ EB for $104.50.
Then went to another EB and got MW2 price matched to Dick Smith $77 and Little Big Planet price matched to Target $39.95. Had to add $12.45.
So all up MW2 and LBP cost me $44.95.
It's a small hassle, but worth it as otherwise I couldn't afford to get all these games that are coming out.

PS. The remainder will be traded next week for Assassin's Creed II.
Agent 042 wrote

Beaten...

Thinking about buying the Game Of The Year edition for PlayStation 3 which is 2 days away.

But I already own the first edition of Fallout on PS3.

Hmm...

All that DLC is worth $79.75, so if I can get the GOTY edition for around that... then I think it is worth having 2 copies of the game... although it is the PS3 version.
Trade in your original copy at Game ($45 trade-in value), then get them to price match JB when you buy it ($99).

All up it will cost you $54 for the DLC (and less hard drive space used on your PS3).

At least that's what I plan on doing...
It's taken me a while, but finally finished The Strain.
Awesome.
I'd have Guillermo Del Toro's babies if it was physically possible.
I don't think he can do anything that doesn't completely entrall me.
Now the long wait for parts two and three....

Started reading Leadbelly again. Never finished it last time I started.
Decided I need to start finishing games.

I couldn't decide where to start so I have decided to go alphabetically.

First up Afro Samurai.

There's so much I like about this game it is such a shame that they let the gameplay be so generic. It's just so bland to play. The only reason to change the button I press for attack is to see a different animation.

Nevertheless, I'll play through to the end...
^ Was looking for that in Brissie last week. Didn't have any success though...
Thanks for the concern.

He's doing great. About to go see him again soon, but no phone call is good news.

We knew he had this problem before he was born, but it was hoped that the surgery could be delayed as he was premy and small (2 pounds 10 ounces). They tried to delay it as long as possible and get him bigger for surgery, but yesterday morning his heart started to fail and they were left with no option but to operate.

The surgeon gave him a 50-50 chance of surviving, but thankfully he stabalised well before the operation and he pulled through with flying colours.

Now he just needs to get big and fat (shouldn't be hard with his father's blood) and he can get back home to Toowoomba.
My 11 day old son survived surgery to correct a narrow aorta.

Very relieved after a very difficult day.
About to start reading The Strain written by Guillermo Del Toro (yes that Guillermo Del Toro) and Chuck Hogan.

It's the first part of a vampire trilogy with a new issue coming out each year.

Can't wait to start reading!!
