I have finished two games recently.

Call of Duty: Black Ops - went through the campaign on hardened. Had a blast. Didn't get the achievement for completing the campaign on hardened for some odd reason. There goes 100G.

Mafia II - it wasn't a masterpiece, but I enjoyed it a lot. Especially the atmosphere and the city, and how mind-boggingly believable and well-made it was. Too bad the game lacked sandbox-elements, as the environment was absolutely gorgeous.
I really like the visual design. Seems like an interesting project all in all, so I'm going to keep my eyes peeled on this one. icon_smile.gif
I'm playing through Dead Space again, and my God, it is still as good as ever. One of the best games of this generation as far as I am concerned. The atmosphere, the visuals and the gameplay are all top notch - only the story falters a bit towards the end. Brilliant game, and I can't wait for the sequel!

I also ordered Assassin's Creed II, and I plan to play it through before buying Brotherhood.

I'm not doing a real playthrough of anything atm, since I've already fully finished my latest new game. So now I've gone back to playing FFXIII (a game many people apparently love to hate, but I personally like it). I'm trying to make what I call an Ă¼ber-save (i.e. savefiles with an overpowered team at specific points in the game, for future replay purposes).

What I'm trying to do right now is fully max my team out before reaching Chapter 12. Not sure if this can be considered a spoiler, but just in case;

I've beaten the last boss of Chapter 11 and now I intend on maxing out everyone's Crystarium grid at this point (easy, I did that on my 1st playthrough too) and get the ultimate weapons for every character as well (didn't do that before). This way I will have a team of kickass l'Cie at the start of Chapter 12.

I've found a very effective way of farming from those oversized Adamantortoises. Using a strategy that most people probably know already (saw it somewhere on YouTube), Sazh basically OWNS those Adamanties. "You should see your daddy now!"
So yeah... when I've got nothing better to do, I spend time on these kind of tedious and completely unnecessary objectives.
(Crazy~? Who, me? But of course! ^^)
I have enjoyed FFXIII quite a bit. The story is interesting, the visuals are great, the soundtrack is good and the battle-system is a blast. The only bummer is the very strict corridors in the game-maps.

Everythings working pretty well now but I still have one big complaint

This happening at least 5 times a game because its such an easy to get killstreak.
Yeah - I do agree that it is a bit too easy to get. Doesn't stop it from being awesome, though, as long as you're the driver and not the one getting blown up. icon_biggrin.gif
It's not a bad idea, metalgear_yoshi. icon_smile.gif

One intriguing XBLA release that I haven't tried yet is Guwange. It is a bullet-hell shooter by Cave, and is ( supposedly ) a big thing in Japan. Kotaku gave the game a glowing review, and as a fan of shmups I should probably get it. Anybody here own it?

So, when IS the PC version being released, and is there going to be a demo?
I think it was the 30th of November, and yes, there probably will be a demo ( since the XBLA -release also had a trial ).

I love this version of Pacman - it's awesomely addictive and I can't help but feel a stirring in my pants when Pacman eats 50 odd ghosts in a row.

XBLA Game of the Year for me!!
Have you played Super Meat Boy? icon_razz.gif

I don't like Gun Game much, it seems to "promote" me to a gun I hate compared the perfectly good one I was just using and apparently is inferior icon_lol.gif I think it would be more fun if the changes were totally random and everyone got the same random change after some time limit.. So like every 30 seconds everyones gun changes into one randomly selected from the list. Or is that a dumb idea? (: That's kind of what I thought the mode was about.

One In The Chamber is really fun though. But I seem to spend twice as much time spectating than I actually do playing so i'm not sure how long my enjoyment of it will last.
Pixiegirl, that is a mode. It's also under Wager Match. Can't remember what it is called though.
Sharpshooter. icon_smile.gif It is, by far, my favorite Wager Match -mode.

Not sure if it was in this patch but it might also have included not allowing the same map to be chosen more than twice ie. not play Nuketown 53 times in a row.
I am pretty sure it did this. Had "vote not allowed" tonight on nuke town.
This is the best news. The matchmaking seems to be working more smoothly as well, as I have been getting into games in an instant today without any hitches. Could be good luck too, I quess.
Re: Super Meat Boy!! (2 years ago)
I am probably double-dipping for the Steam-version just to get my hands on the level-editor. icon_smile.gif

I unlocked 'The Kid' a few days ago, and it was one of my proudest moments in gaming ( that I can recall, at least ). The first level was difficult, but not that frustrating, but it took me quite a while to get the timing down in the second level ( the spikes... ). The third one was easiest by far once you got the rhythm into your backbone.

I am thoroughly enjoying this game, and have probably spent dozens of hours on it already. This is one of the few XBLA titles I can see myself playing years from now.

So.. If I enjoyed the original Hot Pursuit back in the day, and am missing a good arcade racer, I should buy the new NFS: Hot Pursuit?
If you want a 'serious' arcade racer and like smashing cars up as a cop - sure!
Sounds pretty good to me! icon_smile.gif

^you got your free 800 points!? Im still waiting icon_sad.gif when did you get them?
I got my free points yesterday. I wonder why some people haven't gotten them already ( you're not the only one, fortunately ). icon_confused.gif

With that out of the way, I can give you this statement: you are not a pure-hearted gamer if you skip this game. Everything about Pacman CE DX screams 'awesome', and it is as transcending as they come. Seriously addictive, and seriously hypnotic. The visuals along with the perfect gameplay and a soundtrack to die for... I would give this game a 10, too.

This year has been awesome for XBLA as far as I am concerned. It has given me two of my absolute favorite XBLA-titles of all time: this, and Super Meat Boy.

So... I loaded up Jimmy's Vendetta, the first DLC for Mafia 2 and it is absolutely terrible. There is ZERO production values, not a single cutscene bar the introduction, everything else is just text on the screen and it doesn't really give me any idea as to why they deemed it necessary to play as this character.

I'm hoping Joe's Adventure has a bit better presentation than this otherwise I'll be incredibly pissed off.
I have been on the fence about Mafia II's DLC ever since I completed the main story, and I haven't taken the plunge yet. I did enjoy the game a lot during the first play-through, although the last couple of missions were almost unforgiving in their difficulty. Report back about Joe's Adventure, and I'll see about buying it.
So.. If I enjoyed the original Hot Pursuit back in the day, and am missing a good arcade racer, I should buy the new NFS: Hot Pursuit?

high five, I don't like Yahtzee as well.
*high fives*

I hate him too!
Mass Effect still generates discussion because it is one of the best new IP's of this generation. Everything the gameplay lacks in complexity is won back with the story, which I thoroughly enjoyed in both the first and second installment. Sure, the characters aren't that deep, and Shephard himself can be rather boring, but every major character still has a backstory and a few defining traits. Heck, I can't wait for the third ( and last ) chapter of the trilogy.

With that said, I've been playing a lot of Call of Duty: Black Ops since the game's launch on tuesday. Here's the rundown:

-The campaign is good, even spectacular at times. If you accept the fact that it is a blockbuster action-film with insane plot-twists and levels that lead you by the hand, you're going to have a good time. Everything MW2 was, only better.

-Dead Ops ( aka Zombie mode ) is the best thing ever. Period.

-Multiplayer is good whenever it works. The matchmaking is a bit spotty still, breaking up the party or throwing you into games that are either half-full ( but still going ) or sport a bad connection.
I kind of hate to admit this, but I am playing World of WarCraft. Blame my friends for getting me into it. icon_biggrin.gif

I'm also playing the SE-release of Monkey Island 2 ( and I love it! ).
Can it be seen anywhere on the web?

Super Street Fighter IV coming to Nintendo 3DS!! Bad enough I play SSFIV when ever I'm free at home. Now it'll will be happening in the train, at work during lunch, car trips, waiting at the doctors, on the John. The possibilities are endless!
Well.. You know... I'm buying the 3DS just for this. icon_smile.gif
Re: Blu ray players (2 years ago)
Find a used PS3 or something. icon_smile.gif
Yeah, it *is* kind of useless. The Tournament Mode, that is.

I beat a 4200+ BP Hakan with my Rufus earlier today. I was quite proud of myself. icon_smile.gif
Re: The Welcome Thread (2 years ago)
You can get an xbox360 for pretty cheap these days, Xiraiya, so if you are interested, I'd look into that. icon_smile.gif Otherwise, the warmest of welcomes from me too!

I really want to push and get all the achievements in Blur, it's the first time in a long time I've played anything and felt confidant enough that I can compete against anyone. The next challenge is level 50 and legend status, followed by finishing everything on hard mode. Either way, I'll be playing this one for a while to come.
Whoa, that really is a time-consuming achievement to get. icon_biggrin.gif I'll have to strive towards it as well, although it'll take me a long, long while.
Re: VIP changes (2 years ago)
Yeah, I like doing digital art - I draw quite a bit ( I have a Wacom Intuos 3 -tablet and Photoshop CS 5 ). icon_smile.gif Oh, and thanks! I love Blade Runner. <3

He is. His pressure game (THAT KICK!!!) and combo-ability into Ultra makes him completely scary in the right hands. That and he has probably the best (non-punishable) EX move in the game (EX messiah kick).
He is not that scary in my hands yet, as I'm just getting to know his play-style, but damn, he truly has the potential. icon_smile.gif
I've found my calling - Rufus. He's fast, versatile, ugly, and damn fun to play. His ultra is also ridiculous. icon_biggrin.gif
