I guess you're kind of half-right there. Except the girl we're peeking at is a fat ugly abomination and we don't want to get caught looking at her by our ridiculously hot girlfriends, because that would be embarassing. But we can't help to keep looking because she's sad and I feel sorry for her, plus it's pretty funny how pathetic she is at the same time. We speak only to criticise beacuse she promised she'd lose weight and get her shit together, but after almost a year she has done nothing, even assistants have come along to help her along while she herself does nothing.

As an example, the "steering committee" thread. We were promised a simple guideline for the forums as the first assignment of the 'new and improved' site; a task that probably would've taken 1 hour max. But what do you do? Post absolutely nothing for 6 months, make the first guy that's made more than 3 legitimate posts a 'mod' and get him to wirte up the guidelines icon_lol.gif I thought that was pretty funny.

Even new members here are taking it for what it is, graveyard 2.0. In 2 months time, it will mark 1 full year since the site shutdown and everyone left. 1 full year, and what do you have? Oh about 6 new members that only signed up because their very own forum died out too.
Lol steering committee.
Re: New (1 year ago)
Can't wait to see what spam you have in store for us.
Re: Sa-wat-dee kraup! (1 year ago)
Nice one dude, totally jealous! So relaxed there even with the full moon party only a 30 minute boat ride away. Do you still need to find your own accommodation, or are you staying with the gym or something? Are you just going to be learning the fighting style while you're over there?
lol steering committee.
Re: Sa-wat-dee kraup! (1 year ago)
Not sure what you hope to gain from studying in Thailand, unless you want to learn how not to do stuff properly then go for it.

I say this because 5 years ago, I lived in Thailand for close to 4 months. Living in Bangkok Mon-Fri, sometimes leaving on the Thursday for 3-day travelling weekends to other parts of the country. I worked 8hrs/day Mon-Fri in Bangkok working for the "National Housing Authority" and it was a complete waste of time.

It was part of my Civil Engineering degree to do 'work experience' for 12 weeks either locally or abroad, and I chose Thailand. If the people you are working with aren't fluent in English (which is 98% of the population), then you won't gain anything from studying over there. We basically sat in a room twiddling our thumbs mucking around on the internet most of the time because of the language barrier, they couldnt talk to us, and we couldn't talk to them, except for the co-ordinator who we would only see for 5hrs/week. Went on many building and engineering sites where all safety standards and practices are thrown out the window. People are leaning over the edge of a 5-storey roof with no harness, to simply paint. Smoking cigarettes as they're cutting steel and other general laziness. Absolutely nothing is done professionally over there.

Seriously though man it's that damn cheap over there I'd personally say save up a bit and have an extended holiday over there. 3 months of constant weekend travel, getting on the piss every second day in some shape or form, always eating out (there are no kitchens in thailand rooms) and I still managed to spend about 1200/month over 3 months, all accomodation and inter-country travel included. Can be insanely cheap if you buy your airfare at the right time, and now is perfect. I booked this time last year for a hoiliday in November and it cost me $333 return, including a night Kuala Lumpur on the way over there.

Was living on the 12th floor of a high-rise in Bangkapi @ $60/month which was a 5 minute walk from my work. You'll spend $5/day on meals. A 1 hr cab fare won't cost more than $10AUS, can can pay a cab driver $20 and he'll be your personal chauffeur for a whole day, waiting around until you've finished being at 1 place before taking you to another.

Thai people are only nice on the islands, and that's because they want to get money out of you in some shape or form. Most will curse you as soon as your back is turned.

Dunno where you heard about the crocodiles, I've never heard of any such thing. There's a town 1hr south of Bangkok where you can pet tigers and stuff though, I never ended up checking it out though.

Everyone rides scooters, but you sure as hell wouldn't want to hire one if you want to be alive at the end of your trip (this is for Bangkok only). It is absolutely insane the roads there, it's as if there are no laws. But I never once saw a car crash. We hired scooters on the islands down south and they are absolutely essential. Think we paid about $5/day for one.

If you still choose to go there for study or an extended period in general, a console is an absolute must. I did work experience there with 7 others, and all were thanking me immensly for taking my modded Xbox1 console over there which had hundreds of hours of TV preloaded for when we were bored/hungover.

I studied the language for 2hrs/week for 4 months before I left, which was definitely a bit overboard. You can get by in Bangkok by knowing numbers and how to say things like bottled water, beef, chicken, pork, and rice in Thai. Don't use chopsticks, you'll look like a foreign idiot and will be ridiculed by them for it, the sole reason they have chopsticks in Thailand is for foreigners who think Thais use chopsticks.

Nov-Feb is monsoonal season in the Islands south, if you plan to attend a full moon party or general bush music craziness down there, it's a 50/50 chance it'll be on because of the weather. Phuket is basically Surfers Paradise anyway and you wouldn't want to be there for too long. If you plan on buying things, buy absolutely everything in Bangkok and nothing on the islands like Phuket etc. They are inflated by double or more because of the amount of foreigners there who don't travel elsewhere. Tuk Tuks look fun and are cheap, but I wouldn't recommend taking one, you'll be taken to various jeweller/suit stores by the drives who will force you to stay there for a set period of time so they can claim fuel vouchers, you'll save half the already insanely cheap price, but waste triple the time getting to your destination (applies for Bagkok only)

But yeah basically Bangkok for shopping, phuket/krabi/koh phangan/koh samui for beach laziness by day and party craziness by night, and Chiang Mai for proper 3-day mountain treks/elephant rides. The main town is generally quiet, with not much to do other than drink at some go-go bars by night.

For muay Thai fights, number one destination is Lumpini park in Bangkok which will cost you $50 for front row seats which is definitely recommended. There's also fight nights every second night on the islands to the south.

Hope some of this info helps.
I watching greatest tv show Greys Anatomy. This is my all time favouritestestest TV show. I am big fan of this TV show. Must watch this show all the time. I love this show.
Might as well drop the .au from this site, actually just rename it to spambotgn.com
It means the owners just want us to do all the work while they are sitting by the beach, sipping on their c0cktails, collecting their ad revenue cheques. It's that simple. All advertisements on this site are up-to-date, yet everything else remains exactly the same as it was 4 months ago.

Well it's hard to run a site in which the staff don't even play video games.
You know who doesn't play videogames? The voice actor for Baird in Gears of War: Judgement. Hasn't even played a Gears of War game.
Yeah, so? He didn't help develop the game, or is a part of the company that makes it, which is what Appel is arguing. Therefore your analogy makes absolutely no sense.

I honestly want this site to thrive again, I really do, that's why I keep visiting. But with all this 'community-driven' bullshit being thrown around, it's very clear to see that Roland is just leaving this site open for us to do all the work, and it's probably good to have PALGN as a part of his online portfolio. Not that the name has any credibility anymore after all the sslinging here last year, so I don't see the point.
Roland wrote
The Steering Committee’s first task is to post the new PALGN Forum Guidelines.
So how that going for you guys? Nearly two whole weeks since it was announced, and there's still no sign of a simple and easy to create guideline for the forum. Is this going to be available as some sort of novel? If it's taking more than two weeks to post new forum guidelines, then I look forward to the relaunch of PALGN in 2020.

Why stop posting here though?
Because we post on another site now? There's no point in posting up the same rant on two separate forums with basically the same members and having the same people read/respond twice, it's just pointless and confusing.

Furianshi wrote
20 or so people have moved on?
Just look at the site. Clearly 98% of us have 'moved on.' It was never intended to be in a literal sense, rather moving on and becoming an active member of another community. A few of us still have a soft spot for the site (I do at least) and will never really leave, but we'll just never bother posting anymore, which you can clearly see, and we mainly come back to point and laugh anyway. The only times we have posted lately have simply involved tumbleweeds/laughing at general emptiness of the site, and making stupid replies to spam threads.

Seriously dude, if you sift through all the shit this forum has produced recently, you'll find there has been about 15 real, genuine posts relating to discussion of games/movies/life in the last 6 weeks, and half of them are from you and Admeister. It's dead.

It was called "PAL Gaming Network" for a reason. Now it's just a PAL system link.
Re: Forza 4 (2 years ago)
Sorry mate just having a playful dig at the current situation on here. No new members whatsoever, and the older era (like myself) just visiting out of pity.

Re: Forza 4 (2 years ago)
Who are you talking to?
It's crazy how many "guests" are still hanging around the website. Nearly 3 weeks of no activity and there's consistently 100+ guests browsing the forum. There's actually been more new signups now than the weeks leading up to d-day.
Who are these people, these faces? Where do they come from ?
They look like caricatures of used car dealers from Dallas...and, sweet Jesus, there are a hell of a lot of them at 12:50 on a Friday morning...

Still humping the American Dream, that vision of the big winner...somehow emerging from the last-minute, pre-dawn chaos of a stale PALGN casino.

$700 million. We change a $700 million.

Here we go. Okay.

That's nine. Oh, you bastard! S**t. Sorry. No, no. Calm down.

$1 billion spoons down the drain. Not even a single 5, so it looks like I was doomed either way. I am a man of my word, but it won't be happening straight away. It may be here, it may be in the not-too-distant future when the rocket ship comes along. Just as the memory starts to fade, the horror will be sprung when you least expect it...
Sorry guys. To be frank I was kind of turned away from the site during the riots, didn't really seem right to go ahead with it during that time. Thankfully, things seem to have settled down now.

The $700 million gamble.

The worlds largest recorded roulette gamble is said to be $136000. The world's largest sporting bet is US$2 million. It's finally time to set a Guniess World Record for the world's largest bet of any currency (disregarding Zimbabwe).

The spoon amount has been lowered for the purpose of the gamble so any win/loss is visible. For added suspense, I'll do the gamble a bit later on tonight and post results.
Twisted Metal (2 years ago)

So, it seems that this game is finally out, in the States at least. Is it already on-sale here? I guess with all the recent events on the forums, this game (and gaming in general) has been completely overlooked.

It's getting great reviews so far. The single player portion is fairly short, but hopefully the multiplayer stands out and has a decent community. It's been my most anticipated racing game in quite some time, ever since discovering Blur and playing that to death, and even that was an average game by current standards. The craziness that Twisted Metal is known for should completely blow games like Blur right out of the water to be one of, if not, the best weapons-based racing game of the generation.

Anybody else planning to get this? Would love to get a few more contacts on my friends list for some multiplayer racing one day.
So I guess now is the perfect opportunity to announce a couple of the giveaways surrounding this years Oscars.

All voters were placed into a draw to win a prize from a few different categories (360 game, PS3 game, steam voucher, etc). Congratulations to Jahanzeb, a returning member from a few months ago, it already seems to be paying off! I'll send you a PM over the weekend with the details.

Hopefully Karai can chime in before our ceremony wraps-up with his 'Best in Form' award.
I don't think you've every really had anything positive to say about Microsoft, you've always just been anti-Sony.

The red carpet, and very much the world, is buzzing after the recent death of Kanye West. It was an epic stand-off between an army of Kanye’s bodyguards and our very own panel on the main floor where the ceremony was taking place. Miraculously, no-one was injured during their escape and subsequent battle. In an anticlimactic, yet ironic finish, Kanye was fatally wounded when trying to interrupt the very gunfight in which he started. Nobody really seems to care at this point, the Whitney Houston tributes still seem to be flowing, but Kanye seems to have been already forgotten.

With all possible interruptions now out of the way, it’s time to present PALGN’s 2011 gaming awards!

Cody Giunta

Jarrod

Their hearts race and knees buckle when you whisper the words “Nathan Drake.” They love a good 700MB firmware update which adds…. game stability control or some ****. This year it was a hotly contested category with 4 nominees and was determined by a single vote. In PALGN Oscars history, this has only been won by a single member, can he retain the illusive trophy to become the undisputed SONY fanboy?

SONY Fanboy of the Year

The nominees are:

THEMAN
OH wow this patch. Night and Day. If you haven't played the game, now is the time to get it. GOTY – Uncharted 3

admeister
I just got my 14th Platinum, for FFXIII-2. I'm fairly proud of it. GOTY

Our next group love to spend hours shouting at a Kinect sensor for absolutely no response. They laugh in the face of online subscription fees, and proudly show off their 4 broken consoles to show their ultimate testament to Bill Gates, yes, it’s the

Microsoft Fanboy of the Year

Once again, an undisputed Mircosoft fanboy amongst the PALGN ranks could very well be crowned. The nominees are:

Fetidchimp
seems like a good bit of gear....anybody having any troubles with the piece of s*** yet? –Xbox Slim

LeonJ
Just clocked the game. Sooooooooo good! Polished up to the max. MP is unbelievable – Gears of War 3

G3ck0
I never play my 360 though (haven't played it a lot since I owned a 360 for the first time, 2008 I think?) lol

Our next group of nominees love to compare their ‘steam-peens.’ They put in the hard yards, spending countless hours configuring their settings for that 1 frame-per-second boost on the latest game, which is finally now ‘playable.’ It’s time to announce the most vocal of all fanboys/girls on the forums:

A massive campaign from PixieGirl as the awards were looming was simply not enough to knockoff our resident winner, Denny, with the largest Steam collection on PALGN and an Eyefinity rig that truly is a setup to frag for.

..........................................................................................................

Hater’s Gunna Hate Award of the Year
For the member who was never pleased, despite the the wealth of games in 2011.

The nominees are…..drumroll:

ANDYBALLINA
For his 75% game (and sometimes console) return rate using EB’s 7-day return policy

GooberMan
And what a hell of a year it was for games. I've been saying for a couple of months that I don't remember an end-of-year with this many quality games since 1997 – I think some of the judges may have been a bit drunk for this nomination.

When we’re losing sleep over the latest Diablo game, this next lot are too busy anticipating the latest railroad patch for their train simulators. They refuse to play the latest and greatest in RPG’s, choosing to stick to their Commodore-64 counterparts. Up next is the ‘tastes like chicken’ award for the absolute worst taste in games.

‘Tastes Like Chicken’ Award of the Year

And the nominees are:

Benza
So there's this Japanese romance simulator, where you end up as the only human at a school for pigeons. This game is the most amazing thing I've ever seen. – Hatoful Boyfriend

And that’s it from me guys. I would’ve loved to spend a bit more time with some of the comments and quotes but I’ve been doing nightshifts in Brisbane since our winners were announced, I’ve had to finish writing this up on my morning tea break. The curtain raisers are telling me to hurry things up anyway. Things are starting to heat up at the Oscar’s ceremony as the real awards are now scheduled to be presented by resident funnyman, Crank!
Roland wrote
Whatever history FalconDude has with PALGN the language directed towards him was crass. Whether it’s this forum or any other the goal is to promote discussion / conversation. Forum rules vary and people engage in discussion in their own personal and unique way. Some people poke fun lightly….some like to present tight arguments……some antagonise but in a cool way…..some write long poetic points……some only say a few words……..some say it straight…………some like to read and keep to themselves.

However, a minority of PALGN forum members might think it’s okay to swear at FalconDude, the remainder certainly do not. No surprise, people leave a forum (PALGN included) if over the longer term the “swear filter” is not actually managed.
Dude, to be honest, no one cares about this anymore, it's literally yesterday's news. Why don't you now invest your time into answering, even if it's just one or two, of the many hundreds of questions posed to you in the recent stickied threads and open letters.

Roland wrote

We've promoted it up the wazoo, now it's finally time for you to reciprocate.
ATTENTION! ATTENTION! The Oscars have been compromised, I repeat, the Oscars have been compromised. This is Mrcool reporting from the red carpet with this breaking news story.

With his tirade from the Grammys a couple of years ago still fresh in everyone's mind, Kanye West has stormed this year's Oscars ceremony along with his entourage of bodyguards, claiming he should be the winner of every award this year, even sexiest woman! To ensure the integrity of these awards are maintained, a massive gunfight has erupted between his bodyguards and our esteemed panel of judges to protect our coveted awards!

With the expert fragging ability of our judges, the gunfight is expected to slowly dissolve in the next 18-24 hours, so check back here tomorrow as the Oscars ceremony continues with both the third and final segment of awards!
Damn slow PALGN, removed as it was a double post.
Man, it's such a pity we couldn't vote for this in thread of the year.
I ended up watching TNA Against All Odds last night.

It was the most pathetic 3 hours of wrestling I've ever witnessed. The crowd was awful, hardly a peep all night. No match lasted more than 10 minutes, even the main event if you count the long pauses between encounters. There's no way a fatal 4-way should be going for 10 minutes. Sting swings the championship belt towards Roode to take him out, Roode ducks and hits Hardy in the chest with it. Miraculously it managed to 'knock Hardy out cold' for provide an easy pin for Roode, that's two PPV's in a row that they've failed to give the main event a legitimate finish. I feel sorry for anyone that actually bought this.

First match to determine X-division contender had as legitimate injury which looked laughable (at least that's what the crowd was doing.) Biggest pop of the night was Garrett Bischoff which is really saying something about the popularity/lack thereof of the other 'talent.'
Just saw the video embedded in that article for the first time. This the first time I have been exposed to Spacepony.

Excuse me for a minute, I'm going outside to kill myself.

For the curious.

I was drunk and came up with a seedy game exchange thread to deter people from now making sale threads, titled 'game exchange:resurrection', complete with rules and tips. Then I realised it was kind of a shit idea so I deleted it. Still have it saved though.
