When is Picross 3D due? Why did I think it was this week...
Re: Modern Warfare 2 (3 years ago)
Of the 360 MW2 owners here, is anyone else experiencing the same problem I am having? I try to play online multi with randoms - quick match I believe - and it just won't connect to a match. At all. It sits there, "looking for 100ms ping", "we need 7 more players", "searching x% of 50 games", endlessly - I just let it sit for thirty minutes...nothing.

Only once has it found a match, and that was on the night of release and it took twenty minutes of trying.

I have no problem playing other games over live, and the NAT says it is open. Has anyone else had this problem?
Glad to see Monster Hunter up the top of the PSP charts icon_biggrin.gif
Missing: Excitebots: Trick Racing, Punch-Out!!, Another Code R, Personal Trainer: Walking...

...where's my precious Nintendo lineup! I wish they'd announce something icon_sad.gif
Re: The Wrap #25 (4 years ago)
Yeah, I definitely agree with the need to differentiate between "fan" and "fanboy". A reviewer of a fighting game needs to be a fan of the genre if you want to get an in-depth, informed, critical review of a new fighting game that is out! On the other hand, an Ace Attorney fanboy such as myself is blind to any flaw, say, Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations may have, and thus you'd see a big fat "11/10" on my review.
Noooooo! I really wanted to win icon_sad.gif Any winner not want their game? I'll give you $50 inc. post for it! PM me icon_wink.gif
Thanks for all of that guys! I'm thinking I might go for the Wireless Adapter + XBL 12 month subscription! With rumours of a 120/160GB hard drive PS3 coming out, better games down the track, and most definitely more price drops and the rumour of that PS3 Slim it seems like it is worth waiting to see where the PS3 goes the next year. I'm not really too fussed about all those extra option regarding friends and the like with the 360, it was more voice chat/numbers/stability worries, but spending $90 (http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-es-49-en-15-xbox+wireless-70-190l.html) and $56 (http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-es-77-b-49-en-15-xbox+live-70-241y.html) now would probably save me money in the long run, and mean I could just switch to a possibly equal or better free service in the PSN next year when things with Home get running!

Thanks so much for that I do believe I have made my choice so I guess this thread can probably be locked by the mods in case things get pretty lame in here!

Oh, and thanks Passa for pointing it out to me that XBL Subscriptions are dirt cheap on P-A! I can't believe I thought of looking for the Wireless Adapter there, and not the XBL cards! They do work here fine, right?

Ok this thread has been done to death everywhere on the interwebz
I'm sure it has -- but in response to the question I was asking, I honestly searched for over an hour and couldn't anything concrete and direct in response to them :/ Damn "Invalid topics" on GameSpot's forums...
I will be picking up a PS3 eventually down the line -- how could I turn down Team ICO's next game? It'd just result in me purchasing one earlier and enjoying its benefits now, rather than spending $200 on a wireless adapter + 1yr subscription, and then buying a PS3 next year when there are a lot more games that appeal to me. Also, the fact that it'd be mine to keep wherever I like is a huge plus!

Thanks for that help, too! Any more information from anyone is much appreciated also!
First of all, I want to get this out of the way ~ please do not turn this into some sort of fanboy flame thread -- I actually want to learn about the differences and the like between these two consoles!

So! After playing Call of Duty 4 recently, I've been really compelled to play console games online, so here is my predicament ~

I already have access to a 360, but as it is my younger brothers, it never really stays in one place and as a result I can never reliably count on it being within range of the modem to connect the cable to! We also have a puppy, which loves chewing on things, which also doesn't help. Now, I was thinking of getting a Wireless adapter for it, but that's an extra $100, which is completely insane, but then I thought of my other option...

The Playstation 3! While it will cost me a fair bit to buy, and while I'm really not a fan of the controller for FPS games, the fact that the online service is both a) Free! and b) Wireless! really makes me happy! So, the big question I need help answering is -- what does the Xbox 360's online service provide that the PS3s does not? I mean, I'm going to be paying for the service and a wireless adapter, so I want to know if there really are any worthwhile incentives that push it miles past the PS3s!

Other than general differences that I'm interested in, key points I'd really like help with are whether or not there are plenty of people on the PS3 servers of most of the online games (I mean, it takes all of ten-twenty seconds to find a match on the 360 COD4!), and Voice Chat! Do all/most games support it on the PS3, and do many others have headsets?

I've also heard that one must update overseas games from the games' respective country -- so if I import COD4 PS3 from the USA I'd have to update it from the US store?

I've asked around in the past in different places, but to no avail, and I've searched for answers over the net but I've never really had much luck!

Thanks for any assistance you can provide me with!
They are both great games, but I'd say Paper Mario 2 is a touch better with its more involved and extremely exciting battle system...

...wait, you thought other 3rd party RPGs were way better? Maybe you won't like it then :/

The Paper Mario RPGs are brilliant!
When the spinoffs/rehashes are of a good quality, such as this, then there is no problem. See also: Crisis Core, FFIV DS.

I'm less than 20hrs into FFXII -- would owning this ruin the story/benefit from finishing the original?
Mass Effect, definitely!
Re: Pro Stick Duo's? (5 years ago)
If you are close to a DFO (well, a QLD one, anyway) -- I was there recently and saw the 2GB stick, which RRP for $79.95 (I think?), were down to ~$60 or so, which was awesome!
Re: Ghost Squad (5 years ago)
As a lover of enjoyable light-gun games, I will most certainly be getting this down the track!

Tim Levy gave it 10/10, if I recall, and that makes it all the more worthwhile!
Re: The age old question (5 years ago)
As a very proud owner of both the PSP Slim, and the DS Phat, I overall prefer the DS, purely because its library of games are more appealing to me as a whole. It is also extremely quick and easy to use (see: 15 seconds and I'm already into a Picross puzzle), and I thoroughly enjoy utilising its multiplayer capabilities -- particularly the strength of its online library, and the ever-awesome VOIP.

That said, this is purely reflective of my own personal tastes in the games available for each system. Also, none of my friends/family own a PSP, so it's solo only! Not that it matters, because I mainly play single player games on the console, and I rock at Monster Hunter so it's not tooooo troubling so far by myself anyway.

So, while both consoles are AWESOME, I voted for the DS, due to its games.

I mean, where else can you play the full series of Ace Attorney games? HELLS YEAH!
I've got it, and it's good fun -- very slow-paced, simple, and atmospheric -- don't buy it if you like your games fast-paced!

It's a very relaxing title that can be jazzed up with your own tunes! Like "Under the Sea" from the Little Mermaid, or the Baltimora classic "Tarzan Boy"

>_>

^^ How much did you get the stick for, and whats its capacity. I wanted to get a memory stick off ebay, but if i do, im gonna have to be careful, i just checked that guide and saw heaps of fakes.

EDIT: Does this look good. Linky
NO!

You read the guide didn't you? It's fake!

Note the incorrect heat stamps -- those blue packets should have TONS around the edges.

Finally, the model number -- it has a "T" in it!

FAKE!

Don't get it :/
It looks fake, but...see that HIGH SPEED written down the side? I saw official HIGH SPEED ones in JB Hifi and they had the red packaging, so I think if it's HIGH SPEED, and it's red, it's real!
Valkyrie Profile! Definitely!

Refer to Eurogamer's reviews of each to hear what I feel are excellent, viable opinions on both games!

That's not to say Rogue Galaxy *isn't* worth getting down the track, VK2 just is a much fresher experience!
Re: What to get? (5 years ago)
I'd also say to flesh out your Wii gaming collection with the dozens of excellent Virtual Console games!
Re: What to get? (5 years ago)
Wii Sports, Zelda, and RE4ii are all you need atm! Get Wii Play for the extra remote, too!
I need to invest in...

- A case
- A memory stick icon_sad.gif

...but hey, I love my new PSP! Just can't save anything on it yet! Guess that's a good thing since I need to study icon_biggrin.gif
The last games I've played, in the midst of uni hell, were:

- Hotel Dusk: Room 215 (DS) -- I just finished this off, and after 17.5hrs of brilliance, I thoroughly enjoyed it! Plus, I got the extra ending scene, which was nice!

- Contact (DS) -- this is another game that was a casualty of the Pokemon phenomenon, so I'm catching up on this also.

- Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (360) -- my bro just bought a 360, and wow, this is awesome! I've only sunk 2hrs into it though.

- Daigasso! Band Brothers (DS) -- this always gets consistent playtime with me! It's just good to play whenever!
Re: Your newest purchase (5 years ago)
The last few things I bought were...

Lumines II (PSP) -- $30
Digital Devil Saga (PS2) -- $25
Tales of Eternia (PSP) -- $25

These are pending...

Lumines (PSP) -- $20
Me and My Katamari (PSP) -- $30

...yes, most of this is in preparation for a PSP Slim icon_biggrin.gif
1. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (While my vote will only count towards this game, I consider the series as a whole!)
2. Pokemon Diamond
3. Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan!
4. Advance Wars: Dual Strike
5. Mario Kart DS

With the huge amount of brilliant software on the DS, it's kinda hard to put a top 5 in :/
