Re: dc universe (2 years ago)
Well, whatever the problem is, it seems to be gone now. no freezing so far, and i've been playing on the ps3 solidly for 2 days now.
Re: dc universe (2 years ago)
I played the beta on the ps3, but it was constantly crashing after about a minute of playing. It looks like it might be good, but it would probably be a better idea to get it on PC, where it is actually playable.

wait so you have to pay for that update ? anything in it for non sports fans .....
It seems like you are paying to be able to connect to facebook. and every other feature is for the UK only.

There is a free software update too. but you have to get that through playTV menu and not the playstation store. There have been a few improvements, like the ability to change the channels by pressing the numbers on the remote.

South Australia: what the ****? Why do you guys keep voting for this idiot?
I didn't even know that you could vote for him. I was under the impression that we didn't have a choice and that he has been appointed by a bunch of conservative politicians that are in the majority.

I hear this guy on the radio every couple of days, and trust me when i say that this is not even on the top 10 list of his worst ideas. He wants to give police the ability to search people in the streets with no good reason.

how about springs in those pens? will they be small enough?
its a different type of spring. its like a straight wire bent around once and then both ends of the wire stick out, so it kinda looks like this- \o/

I dont know if a pen spring would work you would have a bit of trouble trying to get it into the right shape, and even if you did they tend to be very weak and probably wouldn't spring back properly after you press the button.... but i havent tried that yet so im not sure.

Have many other people had this problem?
Yes you can fix it, It has happened to 3 of my controllers (the R2 button on each of them and all of them imported). The little wire spring in the R2 button has most likely snapped.

If you want to fix it yourself you have to unscrew the controller and take out the shoulder buttons to get the broken spring off. Problem is that the spring is very small and its very hard to get the buttons back on afterwards.

I used saftey pins to replace the spring, just cut them to the same length and bend it out a bit. It actually works very well, just make sure you have a small enough safety pin or it will be too powerful and hard to press the button.
I have 9 of those games.
I've taken apart 2 of my ps3 controllers. its really easy to take apart, but annoying as hell to get back together, its those damn L and R buttons, they like to fall out.

But other than that, there shouldn't be any problems with letting your dad do that.
Re: LittleBigPlanet (4 years ago)
Just found this at ps3fanboy

http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/09/29/littlebigplanet-beta-keys-now-available-on-the-playstation-blog/

Looks like all the key are gone from the lbp website
Re: LittleBigPlanet (4 years ago)
I dont know if this has been announced yet, but I was just in EB to pre order LBP and I will be getting the Kratos sackboy with the pre order.
Re: Question about BC (4 years ago)
from what i've read, I think you have to put in the ps3 version of singstar and when you want to play a song from one of your ps2 discs you just press select and change the disc over while still in the ps3 interface. So I guess you can only play the songs and not the whole game without a ps3 version.
why is it $10 more for the ps3 everywhere? is there any reason for that? Is it Darth Vaders fault?
I read about this somewhere, that it was so they could add more filters or lighting effects or something? but thats probably just an excuse. It is a bit silly though. I only have it on the ps3 and it looks just fine, nowhere near as good as MGS4 or Uncharted, but about as good as you'd expect from a GTA game with so much going on on the screen at once.

You can plug in a HD set top box with no problem and this will make regular TV look better but you will not be able to view the HD channels eg TEN HD etc.
This is not true. If you have a HD box on a normal tv, you can still watch TEN HD and all of the HD channels but they wont be 1080p. They will just look the same as the Standard Def channels.
Re: Siren: Blood Curse (4 years ago)
I downloaded it from the jap store about a month ago, and I didn't understand it at all... Probably why it was so creepy, but it seems like its gonna be really good.
When I first got it, I had left it on the startup screen and it sounds like a woman having an orgasm, my roomate thought i was watching porn. icon_redface.gif
This is the best gaming experience I've had for a long long time, I can't remember being this involved in a game. I've played through twice now and I noticed something very funny when messing around against the bosses.
When the girls are walking towards you and trying to give you a "cuddle", if you run around for a few minutes the background goes white and a time limit appears.

Thats not the funny part. THIS is the funny part.

Get out your camera to take some pics, and the girl will stop following you and start striking different poses for the camera. icon_redface.gif I had some friends over at the time and they were all saying "Rob, stop trying to take pictures of their boobs". I almost died laughing when they posed for me. icon_lol.gif

Anyway, the timer goes for 3 minutes but i dont know what happens when it gets to zero.

no its only really a problem for FPS games. but it just makes me dizzy and harder to see enemies. it doesn't matter to some people.. but others don't like it. TBH i prefer playing FPS games on my 23" lcd rather than the 40"..

but yeah thats just me. for all other games the 46" is great especial racers because on a 23", racers are total crap when you change to incar view!
Are you just too close to the screen? If its a big enough room it shouldn't make a difference.
I've ordered a lot from play-asia and its great. I highly recommend it to all my friends.
I haven't heard any release dates for australia. Thats why I ordered it from play asia.... I'm actually playing it right now. Its so damn good!
Re: Dark Mist (5 years ago)
Ok, well you just run around shooting magical arrows and monsters. Sort of like zelda for top down and the fact that you get keys for killing bosses, but its not as good as I thought it would be. I've only done 5 levels and they are all very very simple.
Dark Mist (5 years ago)
Dark Mist is up on the ps store. Has anyone played it yet? I'm downloading it now and i'll let you know if its any good.

the same sort of thing happened to me. but it didn't load up anything, i could just hear the startup sound. I just held the power button down when it was off until it turned on and off again. It rebooted everything, and reset all my settings and now its fine... So maybe give that a try.
That sounds more like a HDMI handshake problem, which simply switching the TV channel back and forth or turning the TV off and on would fix.

If you weren't using HDMI then thats the first time I've heard it happening on other cables >_>

Resetting the PS3 to default settings will not fix a problem with the disc drive, unfortunately.
Yeah, I know. But its worth giving it a try before sending it in to be fixed.

Oh, and i do use hdmi. But it happened when playing GTA4 and it locked up, and I had to do the reset. Then it did some weird thing where it re wrote the hard drive or something (it didn't delete anything but it took about 20 minutes to do). So I think it was more than just a HDMI problem.
I'm not really sure that I understand the question, but you can play ps3 on an old TV, just make sure it has an AV input, otherwise you'll need an RF convertor.

First game would have been International Soccer on the C64 (yes, not a typo, and not N64), unless you count the Game&Watch games from Nintendo.

Yeah, IS rocked on the C64. Especially when you had to load it from a tape and took 30mins to boot, and it wasn't even guaranteed that it would boot correctly after 30mins!
Lol, I had road runner and coyote on tape and spent hours trying to get it to start. I never did play it, but I had it.

So your tv has
3 composite inputs
2 Hdmi
2 component inputs

you need
6 composite inputs
2 hdmi and
2 component inputs

Is this correct?

What do you want surround sound for? just the ps3 and digi box?

Why do you have a DVD player connected? Couldn't you use your ps3 instead? it upscales and looks better through hdmi and getting rid of the dvd would free up a component slot.

I run my own business and am a Home theatre installer. I have installed hundreds of home theatre systems for people, and it is very daunting. It usually confuses people more than using a switcher. But if you are managing all of those different sources with the complicated setup you have, than using an amp shouldn't be any trouble for you.

Anyway, you need an amp with 2 hdmi inputs, 2 component inputs and at least 4 composite inputs. The other 2 or 3 (the ones you dont need to have surround sound) composites can go straighht into the TV.

you can get amps with 18 inputs, which would be more than you need. but it'll cost ya way over $2000, and nobody wants to pay that much for such a small box.
Re: Obesity (5 years ago)
Eating is addictive for sure. I love food! I used to be very fit just from playing sports when I was younger, I was about 75Kg. It was when I started my own business that I "didn't have time" to exercise and eating take away was just easier, and yummy!

Anyway, when I got up to about 115Kg, I decided to start exercising again, just running and a few weights here and there. I felt like crap for the first few weeks, but it turns out that exercise and working out is addictive too. After I got past the part where all my muscles ached every morning for the first few weeks, it only took about 3 months to lose 25Kg.

So yeah, my advice, start exercising slowly (I went for a jog at least 4 times a week but ended up walking most of it) and before you know it, it'll be something you look forward to.

I've still got a long way to go to reach my goal, but I'll get there.
Re: stoked.. (5 years ago)
breath of fire 3 and 4 on the ps1 are great, I liked 4 better. BOF2 is still my favourite of the series though.

Agreed. I actually just started playing Star Ocean again about 2 weeks ago, but it kept crashing on my ps3, maybe i'll have to plug in my old ps2 again.
