Re: Game controllers. (2 years ago)
Another controller is the Logitech F710 or F310.

I purchased the F710 and it has a slide button to emulate a 360 controller or you can use the supplied software to setup any configuration you want.
Re: The Weekend Steam (4 years ago)
I just went to steam and it has Dawn of War II as $59.99 discounted to $44.99.

Its the same on the website if I use the link above.
Try Overdisk, it shows a graphical representation of what's on your hard drive.

Its a beta but we use it at work and it works correctly.

Locking as there is already another thread, please refer to this thread.
Yes all HD-DVD's are region free.
Re: Worth getting a PS3? (6 years ago)
The main reason I got the PS3 was for Ratchet and Clank, the game is fantasic. I've now been right through 4 times, twice in one sitting.
Re: Blu rays on sale (6 years ago)
I looked at Fantastic Four but its region locked so no good for me.

Some of the other titles Amazon had said they where region locked but according to another site they will work fine.

Good luck with your purchases.

Re: Blu rays on sale (6 years ago)
Amazon have a sale on the moment for Blu-ray, buy one get one free.

Its not the complete range but they do have Harry Potter and some other ones.

EDIT: Sorry it looks like the sale has finished, I just had a look and couldn't find it.
Re: Trading at Jb Hi Fi (6 years ago)
Moved to the General Gaming Talk.
If you are adding a second video card with the 8800GTX I would stay with an NVidia card, you are asking for problems if you try to load ATI and Nvidia drivers on the same PC.

Not sure if you can but you should be able to lock the other port to 1x so it wouldn't matter what the card is it would just run slower and produce less heat.
I had a amd 64 3500+ and didn't think it was worth upgrading.

I ended up purchasing a whole new PC, otherwise you have to compromise of components.

One for me was the board only took a AGP graphics card and a ended up getting a quad core Q6600 for around $350.
Re: Tell us your Setup (6 years ago)
I've just upgraded to a new PC, following are the stats.

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA P35 DSR3
CPU: Q6600 Quad Core @2.4GHz
Heatsink: Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme
RAM: 4x OCZ Platinum 1GB DDR2 400mhz
GPU: MSI Overclocked 8800GTX 786MB
HDD: 1x Samsung 500GB Sata II 16MB
Case: ATX Antec P182
P/S: Corsair HX620
Mouse: Logitech G5
Keyboard: Logitech G15
Display: 2x Viewsonic VX2025WM

Bought an extra 4x Samsung 500GB Sata II 16MB drives for my NAS rack mount box, it now has 1.4TB of storage.
Re: best freeware game (6 years ago)
Have a look at this URL from the PC Power Play forum, they have a topic for free games.

At the moment they have changed their forums and you don't need to be a member to read but it used to be that you couldn't read without a login so it may change at some point.
There is a problem with Bioshock in that it doesn't support Widescreen Monitors correctly.

Have a look at this link, they have a patch at the end which may allow you to play in widescreen, there are also reports to say its the same problem with the xbox 360 widescreen version.

The link goes into details and shows you the differences between a 4:3 and a widescreen monitor.

Re: Steam Community (6 years ago)
I've added everyone down to 838 La, I will ad the rest on Sunday when I get back home.
Fair enough, I paid this when it first came out for the collectors edition and can't play it at the moment becuase I'm running 2000.

I know that some people where hunting for this version.
If anyone is interested Dick Smith Powerhouse in Highpoint has 2 copies for sale.

They are still at the price of $109.
Steam Community (6 years ago)
I've created a Palgn steam community, its a private community so if you would like to be added please let me know.

At this stage I'm not sure how to send an invite, I'm supposing that I need to add friends before I can invite and as I don't have any friends listed can't test yet.

Just let me know you steam account name and I will add.

I'd stick with the Q6600.

Unless you plan on getting a bigger monitor I would got with a 8800 GTS 320Mb. It will do what you require on a monitor of that size.
Re: Linux (6 years ago)
Which ever one you want to go with, I would choose to go with Debian but that requires a lot more knowledge to get the best out of and doesn't have the latest packages.

The great thing with Linux is that you can try one package and if it doesn't do what you want you can try another until you get one thats right for.

Try the openSUSE first.

Have a look at the latest copy of Atomic, they have a look at 5 version of Linux and tell which is the best, the version covered are Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, Gentoo and OpenSUSE.
Great article David, It was an enjoying read.

Great article David, I really enjoyed reading it.

I've never played any of the Metal Gear series but this article makes me want to play number 4.
No they don't matter, I'm currently playing the Dig, an old LucasArts game, because of the great storyline and game play.
Re: The Welcome Thread (7 years ago)
Welcome to the forums, hope you enjoy your stay.

I've occasionally lurk at PCPowerplay and Atomics websites and some other sites though its too many to mention here.

Re: Supreme Commander (7 years ago)
Has anyone bought the Collectors Edition, I did and a couple of maps are damaged, I'm going to send it back for replacement.

The main reason I bought the Collectors Edition was to get the extras as I can't currently play it.

I've got a AMD 64 3500+, 1Gb RAM, 6800GT 256MB Video and a ViewSonic VX2025WM, the killer is Windows 2000 that won't run the sucker.

Later I will upgrade to a Core Duo E6600, about 2-4Gb of RAM, not sure on video card and Vista Ultimate.

If I can't get a version of the Collectors Edition without damage to the extras I would rather wait until I get my new pc and then buy the standard edition.
