only have resiatance so far, but will be getting F1, NHL and NBA and maybe others
a couple of questions... (6 years ago)
so a couple of questions...

first of all im planning on getting F1 Championship edition. I want to know if this is playable online?

Secondly i was wondering if anyone knows what PS2 games have the network settings built into them so that i can install them on my PS3 to play PS2 games online? If not does anyone have a network disc for PS2 they are willing to sell me?

Also i have resistance FOM on PS3, and am wanting to know some other good games for PS3 that have online capabilities. I believe there is a good Tom Clancy game available? And was looking at getting either NHL or NBA, so i can also play them online?

Appreciate the help!
PS3 Download Usage (6 years ago)
i hope someone can help me...

i finally got my ps3 online last nite and had a ball playing resistance fom online for the first time.

what i want to know is how much download usage does this take up? we have a plan where we get 10gb downloads a month and when we reach that we get slowed down...so im just wondering if it chews up a ton or not so much?

thanks!
thats totally awesome!!

im going to hunt down some cheap ones on ebay now!

fantastic!
oh good...i hope so!

coz if thats the case then i can search for them from the states or the UK, where they should be a lot cheaper!!

and adding to my own question....

games from the uk/europe are PAL right?

so they would DEFINATELY work on an australian PS3?
so bottom line...

if i was to buy resistance or F1 Championship edition or any game off ebay from the states...it would work on my PAL Australian PS3???

Yes or No?

yes its possible BUT you'll have to find a game that can create a network setting save on the virtual memory card the ps3 creates

i used star wars battlefront 2 to make one (apparently one of the socom games does it aswell) or if you can track it down get the network disc for the ps2
do u know of any others that have the setting on it? or a list of them on the net somewhere? and if not, is there somewhere i can get the disc? or download it online?
unfortunately no, i tried searching when i first found out by default you can't play them and came up with nothing

so i just began trying all my ps2 games which had online mode, and it was just a fluke i had one with the network settings thing

do u have any other online games you haven't tried yet? or if you really want to, why not hire out star wars battlefront 2 from your local video games/dvd hire place?
the only other one i have is Formula One 2005 which isn't compatable with PS3 yet, so i might have to go rent star wars
there is another way but it would require some lying from your behalf , e-mail sony and tell them you have a slim line ps2, they give you the network disc for free (though they may ask you to give them your serial number which would cause trouble)
fantastic idea! where would i find their email address?
support@playstation.com.au
thank you so much for your help!

i just got my PS3 yesterday and signed up online for network play and everythign along those lines, i have a profile and all that, but im just wondering if it is possible to play PS2 games that have network compatability online through the PS3? if so how?

i have TIF2005 and it says that a profile cant be found on my PS2 memory card, so how can i get this to work?

I never had my PS2 online as i had an old one, so i want to play online with my PS2 now!

Is this possible?

1) San Andreas and VCS play fine, minor glitches but very playable.

2) 256 is a bit slow, you may want to look at 512.
what are the 'glitches'? and down the track will the new updates fix this so all games are playable?
so a few questions really...im not that technically smart...so i just was wondering....

i noticed on that webstite that tells about backward compatibility it mentions about san andreas and vice city stories having some problems? does this mean they are completely unplayable? or just have some minor glitches? if so, what are the glitches? and will updates in the future smooth this out?

also with the updates, if i am not going to be connected to the net on my ps3 straight away how can i go about updating it? is it possible to copy to a flash disk and transfer over? or burn to a blank cd/dvd? and where do i go to get the update?

and also with the internet connection...im guessing broadband 256k is too slow? and does it cost anything to play games online etc???

sorry for all the questions...and sorry if this is in a wrong area or what not...its just im new to this forum and not very technically smart! But in love with PS3's icon_biggrin.gif
