I'm gonna put it right out there and say I'm probably the biggest Uncharted fan ever (the fact that I'm taking my holidays at the moment and picked up my Explorers Edition at 9am sharp pretty much confirms this). That said, the whole time I've been playing 3 there's been something off about it that I couldn't quite put my finger on. The graphics are phenomenal, the writing is superb and it's definitely the Uncharted I know and dearly love.
However, yesterday I just finished playing Batman Arkham City (well the main story anyway), a game that also boasts the aforementioned qualities (except being Uncharted, obviously), but differs in one major and far superior way; the gameplay. Batman controls and moves perfectly; Drake kinda floats and jitters around. Taking out thugs as Batman was precise and easy; shooting agents as Drake is fiddly and imprecise. Maybe these facets have always been part of the Uncharted franchise; I have played the previous two countless times and never noticed them (and now I'm almost loathe to again in case I notice the same flaws and tarnish their memories).
I'm not trying to make a direct comparison of these games, as they're totally different, but with Batman still so fresh in my mind it's brought the flaws in Uncharted into stark contrast.
But hey. I completely agree with the review; it's an outstanding experience visually and storywise, and I would also probably give it the same score (although if Batman hadn't have broken my rose tinted glasses I more than likely would have rated it a 10). I don't really know what I'm trying to say with all this rambling; I think more than anything it's just a way for me to deal with my realization that I haven't been playing the perfect game I thought I would be.
Re: FIFA 12 Review (1 year ago)
The problem with Arsenal is that they just always try to walk it in
Awesome, I might try and find a couple of cheap Move controllers just for this.
Grrr leave Free Radical alone, they need to be working on Timesplitters 4!!
Are they porting Warhead too? I personally thought it was better than Crysis (although that's not to say Crysis wasn't awesome).
Sweet!
Cool! I really liked Anno 1404, I hope this doesn't stray too far from it's roots with the new time setting.
I just bought the 2K catalogue bundle, which in my opinion is the best deal on the entire store. Some of 2K's biggest titles (plus some random crap) for 79.99. I only went on there to see if Bioshock was on sale and couldn't resist such an awesome bargain!

Please please please please PLEEEEEASE let this be true.... It's my one and only regret in getting rid of my PSP. Bundle it with Portable Ops and then announce a God of War remaster too and I'll just transfer all my money to Sony (if a hacker hasn't already stolen it all that is).
Re: Steel Diver Review (2 years ago)
I don't believe it had any thunder to begin with; maybe more of a light drizzle. I wish Nintendo had delayed the 3DS launch until it had some actual good games to release alongside it. As it is I played mine for a week, and even then I only used it for regular DS games as every 3D one I tried was lame. Zelda can't come soon enough!
Obligatory anti-EB posts in 3,2,1....
I don't get why you'd get the Crysis maximum edition when it's $1.39 (not much I know but still) cheaper to get them both separately? Is there additional content it too?
I'm actually stoked about this; I want to finish ME2 at least twice more before 3 comes out, and also Q4 is all about Uncharted 3 for me.
So was this a timed exclusive for 360 or did it need some extra development time for PS3?
Dinosaurs need to feature in more games. I'd take a Dinopocalypse over the Zombie / Alien / Robo variety any day.
For some reason I recently started playing GTA IV again, and you know what? It's a f****** good game. F*** all you hipster douche bags who think it's cool to hate on things that are popular; I hope Rush is GTA V, and even if it's a carbon copy of IV in a new city I'll like it just as much.
Is this coming to PSN too? My 360 literally just died and f*** getting another one.
The T-Rex sounded like a goat at the end, but otherwise have been waiting for this game since I was 10.
I hope these are high definized versions of the XBOX originals and not the ps2 versions.... They were arse comparatively.
Re: Sound Test #15 (2 years ago)
Awesome article, MGS is one of my favorite franchises (second only to Uncharted.... Another game with great music but I guess only having 2 titles doesn't make it qualify for a Sound Test just yet). Definitely thought MGS3 had the best music, being a huge fan of the 60s and James Bond helped a lot too. A little surprised Starsailor's Way to Fall wasn't mentioned though.... It was such a good song (even though I'm not the biggest fan of their other music) that perfectly captured the overwhelming emotion of the ending of that game (probably the only times I've almost been moved to tears by a game).
I'll staunchly oppose this console until they make an Uncharted game, at which point I'll have always supported it and damn anyone who says otherwise.
I like how every title has a big red 3D in it, like we didn't already guess it was in 3D from being on a console that has 3D in its name.
Please please please let Zelda and MGS be a launch titles.... I don't think they will tho icon_sad.gif
^ Same here, got it for about $20 from Playasia, and though I can't find the will to play it just yet it does intrigue me, mostly from it's team ico vibe. I really do wish they had have gone for a different direction with the Majin's voice though, I think that's the main thing that puts me off it.
The PSP had a few high quality titles but it was as if Sony didn't quite know what to do with it. The only reason I still have mine is that I got it hacked... I know that's kind of counterproductive when one wants this medium to thrive like I do, but put it this way; I get angry when people ask me at work (EB) about hacking 360's and PS3's. To me the PSP died a long time ago... the only reason I still have mine is that it's a kick ass PS1/N64/SNES/NES emulator.
As much as I have massive respect for Sony I really wish they'd just drop the whole portable aspect. Unless of course they release a PSP2 Uncharted.....
Bloodstone was awesome. What happened to Bizzare was a ******* disgrace.
Carcassonne is cool, and even tho they can't hold a candle to the PS1 originals, I've always had a soft spot for Spyro.
My head nearly explodes when I think of all the awesome games coming out (not to mention the stacks of cash I'm going to have to part with) this year. It feels like I think this every year, but 2012 would have to have something along the lines of a Dinoriders game (man I'm old) and another Uncharted to top this one. There are too many to leave out so I'm just gonna go for broke.
Uncharted 3, Little Big Planet 2, Dead Space 2, Bulletstorm, Killzone 3, Gears of War 3, Last Guardian, Mass Effect 3, Portal 2, LA Noire, Duke Nukem Forever, Batman Arkham City, Motorstorm Apocalypse..... Not to mention the 3DS and whatever surprises that brings us this year (I already have Zelda and MGS preordered). And if it comes out this year the new Tomb Raider too.
That's already like $2,000 I should be spending on a car or something practical but meh!
This sounds borderline retarded. I hope like hell it is a rumour.
