Fair enough that there are some people who do use this device legally, its just that they are probably a very small minority to those who don't. I like Nintendo direct attack on piracy rather than trying to put copious amounts of protection and drm much like other platforms, Ninty are just going after the sources and by the sounds of it are winning! Maybe other publishers should take note!
Maybe this is reason why video games are still struggling to be recognised as art by the masses... Cause if publishes and developers don't want to respect other people and their artistic views in their respective artistic form (and Cobain had many)... all for the sake of some cheap publicity (like this) and the extra dollar's, then how are they (other artist) mean't to respects video games as an artistic expression or experience.
I like my GT5 don't get me wrong... but I have a feeling there are more V8 Supercars fans in Australia than GT fans... Whilst it only being a small portion of the game (with the ability to be expanded I hope in future) it is a huge marketing tool in Australia and no doubt will marketed by and plastered on every V8 supercar driver and car in the competition. Remember how big GT3 was when it got 1 V8.
not enough in my books the arcade needed to get a cut at least by $50 and $399 is no drop at all on the Pro's... yes they now come with a couple of games but there is still no noticeable pricing difference. Let us see what happens
That whole $499 slimmer 120gb model if true has definitely reached M$ ears, since it is rumored that they are dropping they pro model and reducing the price of the Elite to the pro and keeping the arcade and dropping that in price as well.

Also take into account that the the PS3 Slim was trademarked back in July and apparent rumor of their production was started in April also the Amazon sight in Germany had a listing for it briefly but took it down, but most of this has all been rumored. I would be an amazing feat on Sony behalf if they managed to keep it tight lipped up until when they want to, It would be quite the opposite to the announcement of the PSP Go since that was leaked a couple of days before hand.

Also this shortage... Is number 1... great timing and number 2... creating demand something that they PS3 has never had in its entire life cycle so it will be interesting to see what happens in anything in September.
Had the chance to play this a couple of weeks ago and it is HOT!!!
Re: Sound Test #2 (3 years ago)
I'm sorry it was all well and good up to the 64 era days, where the scores created and played in the Zelda were truly a feature worth mentioning. But when it came to Twilight Princess... and this is my only criticism of that game... is that synthesized tracks were well and truly a thing of the past. Give a Zelda game what it deserves, a full orchestral score, recorded by a full orchestra and some voice narrative with the npc's. That is the only thing that holds Zelda back from entering the current generation of gaming.
I swear I heard them say that last year... going somewhere fast I see.

On another note M$ I know have been making progress cause they have been setting up deals with some ISP's to allow account holders unlimited bandwidth on Xbox Live downloads which in turn would include movie services and IPTV.

Also I would more like to see Play TV come out soon for the PS3 as well I'm looking forward to turning my PS3 into a pvr.
Re: The Weekend Steam (4 years ago)
didn't require a second thought... sign me up
Man... I haven't been able to get a hold of the 3rd in the phoenix series. If anyone has got a copy and wanting to sell icon_biggrin.gif. Then I got to do Apollo and now this one.
Im really suprised that Sony has the money to get this out there.
This isn't really a big concern for the games in question from what I have heard is that another distributer will be found shortly (Im guessing atari) and the game street dates aren't expected to change
From what I have heard it is all about getting the right developer to do the port... Bioware want nothing to do with PS3 In any development form but have no troubles with another developer doing the port... Let's hope EA Redmond are the guys to take it up... after Dead Space they are the perfect choice.
plus you can buy an 360 console (arcade) and blu-ray player cheaper than an PS3
Burnz that is amazing... Im going to print that out and put it in my games section at work
More to come with the Bioshock Come Play Range on Wii and the Imagine Bioshock range to be released on NDS can anyone say mmmmmooooooooooo.
Hey guys Just thought I'd post that I got an email from Sony today saying that PS2 Singstar is now compatible on PS3. It is a small software update that takes place when you pop in you PS3 singstar game and it apparently allows you to play your ps2 disc in the system.

Why can't they just do this for most of their other high profile games?
We all have to start somewhere...

Mcdonalds is where I started and I got many other jobs because I worked there. Maccas are nationally recongnized for having the best training program in the country. As A now employer myself, anyone who worked at maccas and has a good repour there gets an extra tick in my book.

Where am I now... I am a Games Manager at JB. icon_biggrin.gif
Looks like Ubi is trying to make a point here. It is unfortunate cause none of us will listen and strive to prove them wrong. At the end of the day DRM is here to stay like it or hate it.

He's talking about the potential of creating an 8 layer blu-ray disc(which I think they've already done...), holding 25GB per layer. Apparently the PS3 would only require a firmware upgrade to be able to read it.
Sony are testing blu-ray discs at current with 10 layers (25gig per layer)... which lets face it is nuts having said that we have already seen what the PS3 is capable of and that is MGS 4... it didn't need 200gb so the question is what game will?

Speaking also about Blu-ray, Kim continued saying Microsoft still isn’t interested in the possibility of including it for the Xbox 360 and that digitally downloaded movies will be more important in the future instead.
M$ don't need to put a blu-ray attachment to the 360 at the moment considering that a X360 and a BD live blu-ray player is now a cheaper option than a PS3 and considering that there are more games that look and play better on 360, M$ has put the sword to Sony and Sony must respond.
To be perfectly honest, the guy who questioned the consistancy between why these games are ban (and when you consider that, yes many studies show that there is no link between games and behavior) and pokies, which he explained quite clearly have an effect on people; seemed more inteligent than they guy asking the original question. And the later question was spot on about consistancy because in the current ratings scheme there isn't. Because when you look at the summary of Fallout 3 that the Head panelist gave, the summary bears and uncanny resemblance to game we know as Bioshock, which is rated and allowed for play in the Australian market.

Futher they guy had a chance to educate the panelists about the gaming industry and a chance to say that the video game industry is now the biggest media industry in the world.

Anyways, this was a wasted opportunity that needed a more intelligent mind at the helm... sorry mate.
Just to add that stores should have recieved a one time drop of elite bundles with Gears of War and Halo 3. They sell at the rrp as the elite by itself. My store is selling them for $644, but once they are sold they are sold
Yeah it makes the bravia competitive for what they are, there are a lot better tv's in the market that are cheaper too and the companies back them up with better warranties. But I will put it out there that if anyone gets one and doesn't want their PS3 then I will might want to take it off ya. Im getting a free copy of MGS4 from work and I don't have anything to play it on as yet icon_biggrin.gif
I think it good that we have all 3 platforms selling a good amount of units. All the companies involved have really broughy gaming to the forefront of the entertainment industry, stamping an authority that gaming can be a medium of art. We need all 3 companies for the future to continue the success that gaming has had. It got nowhere when we had 2 companies battling against each other whether is colecovision/atari, sega/nintendo, nintendo/sony, gaming was never really considered a profitable entertainment format, now the M$/Sony and Nintendo, gaming is in the best position it has ever been
Don't get me wrong, something like this was bound to happen, but I believe that it is just to soon. Most people would agree that the Playstation Store doesn't have a great range of content on it at the moment and now Sony instead of focusing on increasing the stores content library are giving current owners the chance to pay now to get early access to content and Betas in the future, one being Little Big Planet and another one I can think of is Home (which early owners of the console were promised access to the Beta many years ago, would they have to pay now?). I don't know think there will be much benefit for those who decided to pay for this serivce, there is not enough content to justify it, and how much is it going to be anyway and what type of subsciption would it be (yearly, monthly?).
Re: Age of conan (5 years ago)
Lets face it though is anything really going to replace wow, But Age of Conan is one of those mmorpg's that challenged the genre with something different and they pulled it off. Although the first 20 lvls will be the test for most players (like myself) because Im used to just being able to explore and do group and guild stuff straight away, Age of Conan doesn't let you do that but hopefully once I get those lvls out of the way Age of Conan will really show it's potential to me. At least the C.E was nice with the artbook and the neato map. But for the most point I'm enjoying my AoC experience thus far.
Re: PALGN wants YOU (5 years ago)
I applied, never know... I put a review up here of Dreamfall when Palgn was doing the reader review forum which was fun cause I couldn't get $poons any other way (didn't end up getting the $poons for the review but oh well), but have worked with other websites before and it always fun and challenging.
I think that with the Worldwide sales dropping in all consoles both PS3 and 360 need price drops. Interesting though with E3 round the corner and this rumoured wii-moteness device being planned for the 360, could that inject some spark into their sales. However, that being said if nothing happens no xbox-lite than price drops have to happen. Stop giving Australians, these supposed bundles to avoid dropping prices.

My predicitions:
Xbox Arcade: $299, Pro: $399 Elite $549
PS3: could be $549 or $599 (we would all like it to be the first but most likely it will be the second)

Continuing on 360 these price drops may seem radical but it close to entering its 3rd year in the market, it is possibly halfway through its lifespan. It time for the consumer to start thinking that surely the technology in the xbox can't be costing M$ that much anymore.

I still think that DLC is coming to the Sony platform icon_razz.gif Sony paid a huge amount to Rockstar to keep all PS2 GTA's "exclusive", but they all came to Xbox eventually. I'm going to be very surprised if the episodes are not on the PSN at some point in 2009.

And as for the numbers, well, I guess this is why God invented PR.
that was a lincence that exspired cz they decided not to keep paying icon_wink.gif
M$ paid ahead for the content, so in fact they have paid for the development and exclusivity, dlc could still come for the PS3 but just not the stuff that is coming for 360 and if PS3 does get some content it will be available on 360 as well.

Sony PR is funny cause the like to work on numbers shipped, not on gfk figures, and if that is the cause yeah sony are in front, my store recieves more ps3 versions than 360 but 360 always sells out quicker and Ive still got plenty PS3 versions of the game
I gave it a 9 as the voice acting really stood out, The music being misguided didn't affect the overall experience, but did stand out enough to warrant a mention. It basically held it back from me giving it a 10
