...Wait, isn't that background in Ciel's post from Street Fighter: the Movie (the game)? It looks awfully familiar, and not just because it's a Blanka stage remake.

As others have mentioned, Chun Li has always had chunky thighs. I'm more concerned about Ken in that second screenshot - never mind the hockey hair, he looks like he's made out of play-dough! In fact, everyone's looking slightly boneless in these new screenshots.

A 2D fighter with a 3D look is perfection...
Seems like the opposite to me - I could grok 3D mechanics in a 2D fighter, but the reverse still seems like it's compromising the visuals with no benefit to the mechanics.

[Edit:] Donkey Kong Country! I knew it reminded me of something. Makes sense, since it's the same sort of 'flattened' 3D.

anti-war wolf in a shooter sheep’s clothing.
Shouldn't that be sheep in wolf's clothing?

...'Cause, you know, sheep are less aggressive, and such. icon_redface.gif
So, do we know for sure that No More Heroes hasn't been pushed back a week?
Revolution X minigame or I'm not interested! icon_lol.gif

...Seriously, do they really think Aerosmith still has the fanbase to support something like this? And does anyone else remember a then-eighteen Liv Tyler complaining about how embarassing it was to hear her dad go on about sex all the time?
Heh, it didn't take EA long to start their new aquisitions churning out sequels. icon_lol.gif
Well, the early 90s G.I. Joe arcade game was freaking sweet, and I can't think of any other games that made use of the license offhand. So as far as I'm aware the series has a 100% success rate - meaning that this has got to be awesome! icon_lol.gif

Despite the graphical change, Street Fighter IV will still retain the classic 2D gameplay which made the series famous.
Sprite-based versus model-based collision detection are very different animals, 2.5D or not.

...Honestly, it does seem like they've opted for the worst of both worlds. They're weathering the graphics deficiencies of 3D fighters without any of the 'realistic' model-to-model interaction that makes the more advanced 3D fighters worth playing (e.g. the difference between open and closed stances in Virtua Fighter). All 3D does in what we've seen of the game so far is make the grappling system look more natural... And allow for dramatic camera rotation.

In spite of some of the complaints we've heard, there's some reasonably attractive visuals in those there screenshots. But is it prettier than a ludicrously high-resolution 2D Street Fighter 4 would have been? No way.
I personally really disliked Yoda's lighstabering in the SW prequels. The Sonic the Hedgehog-style zipping around was just so... Undignified. I'd have infinitely preferred him to focus on elegant, minimalist and efficient motion. icon_redface.gif

DS Hercales: Battle With the Gods 16/01/2008 Tentative
Typo, plus it's in there twice (once spelt correctly).

Zak and Wiki??? im guessing it's a wii title.
Linky. Puzzle/adventure hybrid (more puzzle than adventure, despite appearances). Has a pretty good buzz going amongst the hardcore crowd. Another reason why the Wii shoulda been region free...

ten year olds will enjoy singing along to Aqua
I rather doubt ten year olds will be into a band whose heyday was in 1998. icon_redface.gif

Um, I don't think having to download every audio file the game has to offer really constitutes as something a patch could fix...
It's more likely that the content is actually on the disk but is sending out the wrong signals (i.e. the same channel twice).

...Since presumably if over half the game's audio wasn't on the gold master someone would've noticed that the file sizes were off. icon_redface.gif

There also appears to be a stealth addition of the SNES game Cybernator, also known as Assault Suits Valken.
I knew I'd heard the name Cybernator before!

...This is the version with the anime-style portraits and dialogue edited out, right? Or is it the non-butchered version?
Time to get a-chippin', I believe. There's a shop next to work that sells 'em, I might just take a closer look on Monday...
Disappointing, but not particularly suprising. Unfortunately for purists, even Viewtiful Joe-style 2.5D plays quite differently to sprite-based 2D...

The fact that they're billing it as a followup to SF2 rather than 3 is worrysome - it suggests that they're thinking in terms of mass market appeal rather than depth.

Looking on the bright side, though, it couldn't possibly be worse news than Guilty Gear 2. icon_lol.gif

Shen Long may appear in the game. We are NOT kidding.
Maybe we should just buy them a pet shark (and maybe attach some frikkin' laser beams?) in a big tank with a ramp next to it, so they can repeatedly practice jumping over it on a jet-ski or something? icon_surprised.gif

When asked about how they reacted to the at times bordering on hostile reaction in public forums to their use of copy protection, Slater was upfront and honest - 'they hurt'.
Good.

The decision's yours. You have every right to attempt to protect your precious, precious data from the inevitable for all of fifteen minutes, at the expense of your customers. But then you have to take your medicine like a big boy.

Can I chalk it up to an ironic statement on the introspective intellectualism that's becoming increasingly rampant among the 'digital literati'?
Feel free. I suggest going for a mashup motif, though. How does 'dilliterates' grab you? icon_biggrin.gif
The word you're looking for is rationale.
Eh, Nightfire wasn't terrible. Standard console FPS, but the multiplayer was balanced and fun, and you got to shoot Denise Richards bots in the face a lot (bots = Denise Richards was the standard rule at our place icon_lol.gif ).

Oh, and the CG original 'Bond intro' was pretty good.

Im missing the funny - im sure a US Wii is less favourable to an aussie Wii for some people..otherwise EVERYONE would import.
Nah, they're just harder to find over there. icon_razz.gif
It seems like a pretty natural fit, really.

- Sprawling and slightly underpopulated worlds created from a limited tileset/texture base.
- Dungeons that can easily be instanced separately.
- Expansive skill system that makes for a variety of builds and would allow multiplayer-complementary party systems.
- NPCs controlled by looping AI slash dialogue trees.
- NPC-driven quests system.
- Overall plots that can easily be made protagonist-agnostic (i.e. the game doesn't care if you're a ninja or a pirate).
- L00t. And grind.
- Formerly old-skool PC-centric developers who are now escaping further into console territory... But who could probably be persuaded that MMOs are the one form of PC gaming who's revenue is immune to software piracy.

Now, whether it would be interesting, or even fun, is another question entirely... icon_cool.gif

A single Val Venis match > You
Hey, I like Val. Did I say I don't like Val? 'Cause I do. icon_confused.gif

Last time they did one of these tour thingys I was quite impressed with how well he related to the live crowd - while other supposed wells of charisma like Chris Jerico came across as being positively wooden by comparison.

My point was that his job right now is to be an 'enhancement talent', Heat mainstay and occasional guest trainer at Ohio Valley Wrestling - and that the WWE isn't exactly into giving him high-profile PPV matches.

Thanks for the heads up aye.

he WWE Raw Survivor Series is happening on the 8th, 9th and 10th of November in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne and we have a double pass for each event thanks to WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2008.
Erm, that's seriously wrong. Like, misleading-inaccurate. icon_mad.gif

The Survivor Series is one of the WWE's higher-profile Pay-Per-Views. Loud explosions, gimmick matches, the possibility of at least one honest-to-goodness title change, and virtually zero likelyhood of an appearance by Val Venis!

The Survivor Series Tour is what's happening here next week, as described in the article. It's a series of non-televised house shows featuring only talent from the Raw brand. And, erm, I've already got tickets, so yar boo sucks. icon_redface.gif

The action will probably be much like this.
Unlikely. Not only are both the wrestlers in that screenshot staying in the 'States, but they're both currently not medically cleared to wrestle! icon_lol.gif
So it's definitely Endless Ocean, not Forever Blue, here? Pity, I preferred the slightly more oblique title. icon_razz.gif

"Most interestingly I think from our point of view, it was interesting to see how the marketing budget was split last Christmas, because obviously everyone knew that Microsoft were publishing Gears of War and Viva Piñata. Yet, so much of the money went towards Gears of War, which is going to sell millions anyway," explained Thomas. "It was a bit of like, "What about the other franchise?" I think we got left in the wake somewhat."
You. Got. Your. Own. Freaking. Cartoon.

Viva Piñata didn't sell because it was on a machine that didn't cater to - and was too expensive for - the kiddy demographic, . It's not complicated...
Ugh, that's awful.

...So much for the independent producer revolution, Bioware!

It was more of an expansion with a full price tag.
...I'm sorry, did you just call a 200 hour game an expansion?
This is a pretty big deal, considering that MH2 was basically single-handedly responsible for the resurrection of the PSP in Japan (or more accurately, it kept it alive long enough for the resurrection we're seeing now to kick in).
