I just was googling for some sales information about Mass Effect and stumbled upon this page which states that Mass Effect is coming to PC. According to the article it has not been officially announced. Some other sites are reporting it as well.

So if this is the case then I suspect that it would be likely that a PS3 port would occur. If the developers plan on making sequels in which users can move thier characters from one profile to another then it would be better to put the orignal game onto any systems that they would intend to put sequels on. I think the idea of have Mass Effect 2 onto PS3 seems silly if there is a dependence even if no enforced on the second game.

EDIT:One of the community managers at the Mass Effect Forums denied it and casted it as a rumour. I don't know what to believe.

Even so I still think a PS3 port is liekly based on sales.

He'd probably rebel and try to do something stupidly, damaging again. Whatever they were arguing about before probably wasn't as serious as a $30,000 damage bill. In all seriousness though I hope this guy learnt a lesson from all of this.
Hail to the king, baby.

I just went back and watched a previous E3 trailer for the game and it looked pretty awesome.
It certainly is an interesting proposition. I wonder how many people are going to undertake it.

According to the article it's only going to last a few months and I'd assume that after that you would get the software for free without the tracking. That sounds pretty good for people who don't mind it.

Have you considered a blue-tooth mouse?

I just recently bought a blue-tooth mouse from Microsoft and its great. Because its blue-tooth you don't need the usb dongle (but obviously your laptop needs to have blue-tooth built in)

Microsoft is also offering a 25% rebate off the RRP. which makes this even better.
I heard it isn't good to use bluetooth with WiFi, since they both interferes with each other.
Both Bluetooth and Wifi share a range of frequencies around 2.4ghz. So interference can occur between the two devices but Bluetooth has a feature that tries to prevent this called Spread Spectrum Frequency Hoping. Essentially the Bluetooth waves jump between different frequency levels so quickly that ideally interference isn't meant to occur. I'm not sure on how effective this technique is but I think I'd be safe to say with all of the Bluetooth mice out there that interference would likely be minimal or non-existent.

I wish I got a Bluetooth mouse instead of a Wifi one, carrying around a USB receiver is a bit annoying but on the flip slide you are paying more for Bluetooth.

I play games as well So I'd want something that was decent in that line. Basically so I can play new and up coming games without having to stress over upgrading for the next year and a half or so.
I think that your expectation for gaming are a bit too high for a laptop unless your intending on getting a really high end machine which would probably be extremely heavy. As I mentioned before I bought my Dell XPS M1210 a year ago and at the time I could play most games on medium to high settings but this year I'm running games like Bioshock on low settings. Now my machine is the size of an ultra portable laptop and a lot of big steps in grapical improvements have occured over the last year but even so I think a year and a half might be a stretch.

I'm looking at Dell. My work can do salary sacrifice, or I can do payment plans.
As I mentioned before I'm a happy Dell customer, so I recommend them. Friends of mine have had problems with Acer and Compaq machines but some of the new Acer machines look like steals.

A 17" Screen on a laptop, does it just make it more awkward to carry around?
If your carrying it in a laptop backpak then it wouldn't be awkward. Most laptop backpaks support 17inch machines. Carrying it in a standard laptop bag might be awkward but it really depends on where your taking it. I think weight is more of an issue than awkwardness.

Robot Sieg wrote
Battery life etc, should I just carry the powerplug whereever I go?
If your using a more powerful machine then I'd recommend a 9-cell battery, which will give you at least 3hrs of juice. I only carry my power supply with me when I known I'm likely going to need it. This is something you just get an idea of over time.

Which USB Wireless Mice are good? The ones you can buy from Dell, any good?
I'd compare prices for the Wireless Mice, not sure on the Dell ones but it may be worth checking out retail versions and getting a feel to see what you like. Dell do have show case stores but there aren't many of them. Logitech are worth a look.

Durability?
If your safe and careful with you machine then this shouldn't be much of an issue. I'd read several reviews to gage how duarable specific models are.

If your looking for a 17inch Notebooks I'd probably recommend a Mac Book Pro. They are pretty light and should be grunty enough to do what your after.
One memory that sticks out in my mind is 8 player Mario Kart: Double Dash. Before Solan(A SA gaming LAN) was formed it started out as a console addition to LPC lans. Someone managed to get two network adapters for the Gamecube so we played about 10 or so matches. It's seriously a lot of fun, my brother and I were grinning ear to ear. Since the games been catered for four players an 8 player match is complete chaos. Players were constantly interchanging positions and shells were going everywhere. There were a few skilled players but overall we managed to rank pretty well.

In terms of gaming moments I'm proud of because of skill I'd have to say finishing some of the story chapters in F-Zero GX on the hardest difficulty ranking. Getting 100% completion Yoshi's Island(SNES) even in the Bonus Stages is another moment I'm proud of. Looking at it now though it doesn't seem very difficult but as a kid it was.
I saw it for $44 in the recent JB catalogue. I haven't picked it up yet, probably will in the future if it works well with some games otherwise I might sell out for the pack in Zelda game.
Since I've been on holidays and don't currently have a part time job I've been tearing through all of my games. Just finished Quake 4 for the PC a few hours ago. The game was really good and ran suprisingly well on my laptop. I found the games final boss to be rather easy but I'm pretty sure that it was because I bulked up on Dark Matter Guns ammo. Quake 4 was a lot more interesting to play than Doom 3 and its expansion. I thought that the gun modifications throughout the game were a really nice touch. The multiplayer isn't Quake 3 but it's still pretty good.

I'm moving onto to Age of Empires 3, another game that has been sitting on my shelf for a while. I thought I better play through it and the Wars Chiefs before I pickup the Asain Dynasties.
Re: Solar Powered Wii (5 years ago)
If they improved the energy intake then maybe we could be playing our games like this:

I'd like to echo the responses made by everyone else and recommend a DS Lite. I've had my DS phat since launch and it's still working fine. The size of it though is rather annoying my hands don't feel as confortable with it as they do with a DS lite. Also I really don't like the D-pad and buttons on the phat wheras I really like them on the DS lite.

I haven't seen the DS phat drastically cheaper than the lite and the price difference is well worth it.

I think that the charger for the DS Lite is different to the DS phat, not entirely sure though.
Re: School Formal (5 years ago)
Wow just wow. That's really impressive. You could have probably crushed some of the Limo's at the formal with that tank. icon_smile.gif
Re: Guess The Game (5 years ago)
I've just noticed that the images filename is supermarioallstarsoy5.gif but I'm pretty sure it's not from Super Mario All Stars, the graphical style doesn't match up.

I'll take a stab at Mario Party Advance.
Re: The Tetris Effect (5 years ago)
I've experienced these kinds of effects especially as a child. I remember trying to run up rainbows after playing too much Rainbow island. Sounds pretty funny when you think about it. I've also experienced the Tetris effect before. This thread reminds me of a Tetris clip from Mega64.

Supposedly after using photoshop for a long time people will reach for Cntrl-Z whenever they make a mistake.
I tend to do this often sometimes even in my browser. I've never thought of it as being related to using graphical editing programs.
I think that the latest update added the clock feature and the latest updates from the WiiConnect24. I could still run MP3's on the photo channel so it didn't change that at all. My Wii hadn't been connected to the internet before and I received updates for both MP3 and mario Galaxy.

one thing I don't like is Nintendo won't tell you what they're updating and why which means they are pretty disloyal to their own customers.
I don't see how keeping these update details from customers is a form of not being loyal. It's not really neccessary for people to know all of the minor details that have been updated and many of the major obvious updates are usually publicised by Nintendo.
Okay I read the article. The new producer seems quite spirited and passionate about this game and really wants to keep it true to Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. The facial expressions and possible changes in body parts due to injuries sounds rather neat.

I was really shocked to hear that Capcom weren't interested in making Street Fighter 4. With the steps the producer is taking I'm really hopeful that it will turn out to be an excellent and distinct game.
I'm sorry to bitch but was it that hard to post up a dial up warning. You've just posted up almost 2mb of screenshots and I thought this thread was just "Massive Street Fighter 4 Info".

Anyway cheers I'll have a read a bit later. By the looks of things the screenshots are only from the one level. It would have been nice to see some more.
Just downloaded the podcast. It was a good show possibly could have been a bit longer but still great. I thought Evan was a bit harsh on Poke'mon Snap though.

God, hilarious, best podcast yet, keep it up guys
bit longer wouldn't hurt though
BUT!!! sometimes I find myself trying to add something into the conversation and then realizing how stupid I am
BUT, lucky for you guys next week I am willing to be a special guest, so now I just need details from you guys so I can be there. Seriously though I would love some PALGN regulars to get together, just like anyone that wants to, and do our own forum based one of these discussing stuff that happened on the forums and IRC.
I've seen a few other communities come together and create podcasts and most of them have been rubbish. Usually there are lots of enthuiastic people who want to podcast but they aren't well suited to the positions. I'm not implying that Puddingfork is like this but some peoples voices are annoying and as a listener you don't really want to have to listen to them for long periods of time. It's not just voice work that can cause problems ,both timing and keeping flow are alsovery important.

I think the PALGN staff has all of things down pat. There were some interuptions during past podcats but they seemed to have stopped.
admeister, here's a technique I use a lot to cut out pictures for signatures, it generally works well. The dimensions of signature sizes are rather small so if I want to cut out a picture and put it in my signature I find a high resolution version of that picture and cut it out at that high resolution. I then shrink it down to fit into my signature, this compresses the left over mess right down, usually it's removed depending on how much you've scaled it.

I also use an exporting tool in Fireworks which lets me demo what my signature will look like under certain picture formats and settings.
I'm probably too late so I won't bother about entering, don't really have the internet connection to play it anyway.

Hopefully with all of these copies of Fury going out Auran might have enough users to create an Australian dedicated server that they were hoping for.
Sounds like this weeks episode is going to be a good one. I'll download from the ABC website when it is reeased. It's great to hear that there is going to be another season and I'm sure that the GG team will do an excellent job with it. I've been catching up on thier older shows from past seasons and I really think they have hit a sweet spot in terms of balance and interesting content. The show could greately benefit from being an hour show though and I'm sure that a better timeslot and some advertising on ABC could greatly improve thier exposure.
Just yesterday I finished Super Mario Galaxy with 120 stars and Fable: The Lost Chapters.

I was a bit disapointed with the difficulty of the final boss in Super Mario Galaxy. It only took me a few minutes to complete without dying. This game is brilliant and I love the 120 extra content once you reach 120 stars.

I also found the last boss in Fable to be rather easy as well. The games length was really disapointing, even with the Lost Chapters extras it still was too short. The character customisation and loading times were great but I wanted more from the game after seeing the end credits. Fable while claiming to be very open ended still seems really linear. I was expecting more variations in quest structure and character development.
The trailer is really well done will definitely help build even more hype for the game. I really love the voice acting that they have used in the clip.
I'm suprised to hear that the songs are only in SD. This track list is a great start to the Singstar Store. Does anyone know how frequently Sony are planning on updating the store?

Isn't GameTap restricted to US residents only? Thats the impression I'm under - but speak up if I'm wrong, 'cause I'd love to see it running all nice and smooth on the PC icon_smile.gif
Only the Gold Account in which you have to pay for games is restricted to the US and Canada but the free one isn't. I'm not completely sure but suspect that you'll only be able to play the game till the end of the year and after that it will be removed from the GameTap player. So you'd only own it for a restricted amount of time.

sidzed2, I played the demo of Psychonauts on the PC and agree that it's awful to play without a controller.
Usually I don't have many dreams and when I do I usually can't remember what happened in them.

A few years ago I kept on having dreams where I went to school and just went about my usual school activities. Thoose dreams were scarily realistic and sometimes I couldn't tell if somethings happened in my dreams or in real life. It was pretty creepy stuff.
I haven't bought anything from Play-Asia but there are a lot of people on these forums that have spoken highly of them.

I sometimes buy games from the following places.
-DVD Crave
-Ezy Games
-Steam
-Ebay Australia

I've got a new Avatar. It's taken from a T-Shirt that I found online.

NaTe, it's good to see a signature that isn't boxed up. The text and image work well together but I don't really like the spots on the background parts.

El Taco, I don't get it. I don't even know what your signature is meant to be about. The picture used in the signature could be slighty better in terms of quality but I'm only niggling.

OH, and going thru a second playthrough of Uncharted on PS3, and currently downloading Psychonauts on the 360, I cannot wait to see what this game is like!
Sorry to be the bringer of bad news but Psychonauts is currently free on GameTap till the end of the year.

I'm playing through Mario Galaxy, currently on 73 stars and am hoping to finish it within the next few days.

I finished Doom 3: Resurection of Evil just a few days ago and have started playing Fable: The Lost Chapters for PC. I've been having a few technical troubles with my laptop lately so I haven't been playing much on the PC. I managed to fix them recently but my version of Fable is very flaky with captions and text not being full printed and some shader problems. I'll have to look into getting updates for the game. So far though it's a great game and I was suprised to see my character gain scars from doing a quest naked. Are the scars obtained permenant?

I've been playing tibits of Dr Mario on the NES slowly ramping up the difficulty. My brother and I are having an unofficial competition to see who can beat the game at certain levels of difficulty.

Sorry, what is Lenards? I have never head of it.

Congrats on the job. icon_y1.gif

There is the logo for Lenards. They have a few stores here and there. We sometimes buy some of our meat from them.

Pilliy, is this your first job?

I know when I started my first job I probably thought it was a lot better than it actually was. The novelty can wear off rather quickly if your not really 100% into the jobs field. This is pretty common amongst teens since most of them don't really have the qualifications to get into the jobs they'd be more interested in. Personally I don't like working in retail, the customer service stuff doesn't bother me it's just all of the other crap that comes with it.

By the sounds of things your boss and fellow employee's sound great which will make the job much more enjoyable. I hope you continue to like it.
