Re: PALGN Steering Committee (1 year ago)
The transitional body needs to be two things;
- Transparent
- Robust
Transparent to instill confidence that the correct people are making correct decisions on items they are knowledgeable about.
Robust so that when individuals are then questioned (ie Roland "please link to thread and I'll comment") said committee can say "this is why, this discussion was had, these are the merits" and etc to further back up the confidence that the right people are making the right decisions and she'll be right in the end.
At present. you have a no confidence motion from the previous community. View it as trolls and completely miss the message, view it as constructive criticism that there is a viewpoint that the committee are throwing up brick walls instead of listening to the old community on a community focused venture, entirely your call to make, you just made the wrong one.
Re: 2011 + 2012: The "Year of Retro Gaming" Project (1 year ago)
Agree with Killer Instinct, it had a solid base to work with which is always replayable as opposed to a gimmick like clay fighter which ages, and yes, it gets entirely horrible when you cannot pull those combos off as you just get frustrated and utterly spanked. But then, I often have trouble with such fighters, guess they're just not my genre.
But gah, next week, a game which would be good if it wasn't tainted by Toriyama only being able to draw one body type and a frog.

Didn't like how Earthbound all melded together, in effect you have something which borders on an acid trip that becomes enjoyable if you're watching, but playing, in the back of your mind and in your viewpoint, it's all based on solid fundamentals that have been around RPG's since its dawn and it would only turn out later that they thought "lets tie some things to the soundtrack" or attempt to alter how the player is engaged in the gameplay. The "expectation" when you see the "oddities" and are then met with the "normal" undertaking was just a let down.
I mean, it's an alien bee who chooses a plucky kid as a saviour when there's a dog, some birds and other creatures that could have been used to "spice up" the undertaking by the player.

Yeah once teeth are broken (my front two with a metal baseball bat, caught the bottom of the top two as I was in the process of yelling / starting to yell at the time. Unexpected) and you also get over the fear of dentists and replace that with loathing when they start drilling your teeth without any sort of injection of painkiller. I tore the padding off the right arm rest because those people thought I was weasling around too much and strapped me to the chair so they didn't drill my lip.
Although mine are fragments re-pieced and effectively welded back onto my teeth after the first attempt got lodged into bread when I bit into a hot dog. So now, the entire back of the front two is like one giant ceramic plate to fuse the lower portion of the teeth with gusto. This also means that for about a decade and a bit I have not had toffee or anything sticky.

Foiled again due to my insignificance! But then I suppose when people throw wads of cash at things only to hate them it triumphs not even bothering in the first place and scoffing at everything since this generation started as overpriced garbage and continues in the same vein where it's only going to get worse as things get more multimedia server instead of gaming console orientated.
Maybe I should have picked baboon instead of Fly, then I could also get away with not having to wear pants around here as well...

Uncle dunked me in a lake, ended in cpr, refused to go into any body of water with a friggen stupid person (ie anyone, even if I'm related to them) ever since. Good news being rest of the family hates him now as well so I don't have to hide my obvious desire to beat the man senseless.
Otherwise, yeah, bees, as during the 1997 AFL final I decided to (as a plucky 12 year old) dress up the front yard with Saints colours (yeah, it turned out emo) and suitably in nailing them to the fence pissed off quite a few of them. Queue me running down the road screaming followed by said bees, doubling around the block and sneaking back into the house via going into the neighbours, jumping the fence and breaking into my window to ensure they did not see me again.
Bees also got vengeance as to wash away my tears I hosed the crap out of anything out the front and pissed them off good and proper. Still, my first instinct is to jump and flee in the opposite direction.
This coming from a bloke who was gardening, saw a brown snake, put the spade down, grabbed a shovel and beat the shit out it before returning to said gardening, sighing, and then grabbing the shovel again to remove the bits of the corpse. Because so help me, if you screwed with my bushel of peas it meant war.

Oh 4 heroes and the magically imbued hats of many wonder that would have been a better game if you were a hat with a mouth, so you can tell the bawler hat to solve that mystery instead of having big headed individuals who can turn into animals do it. Sharpen those brims fellers, we're going to war without gloves kinda stuff, would have made a far better game in my skewed opinion rather than one I'm struggling to even get past half way in.
And I will forever hold much love to the podcast crew here, for my winnage and giddy replaying to ensure I wasn't mishearing it and some cunning doppelganger wasn't approaching.

Anywho, the little sister preordered this and had the similar opinions on the cut scenes that they are just too lengthy and not holding her interest, although the game has since grown on her since initially she was questioning the preorder initially.
Re: SUPERCOACH - PALGN league (1 year ago)
Missing 4 now.
Goddard to mid to make way for hawks rookie ranga Andrew Boseley and Gary Rohan to be one step closer to a functioning forward line, to hopefully have enough to push Matty Bate out for his dual poorly named heritage last year and red hair combo killing abilities.
1 mid
3 forwards
then let's go spelunking for hair dye!
Still over a mil left to get these 4 people so 250k each currently.

No wonder he left then, coward ranga ashamed of his ranganess! Goddard should have pimpslapped some sense into him.
Just took a squiz through the recent draftees, wanting a second opinion on these guys;
William Hoskin-Elliot - Giants
Joel Hamling - Cats
Jordan Lockyer - Sydney
Aiden Riley - Adelaide
Primarily thinking bench positions, since most the good rangas seem to be in excess of 400k each.

@Fly - is Banefield still playing? Also I think Zac Dawson is eligible, and Drew Petrie is a ranga (see below) but I think he dyes it sometimes
And see, I met Zac (as a St Kilda player sponsor & member I went to functions) and to me he looked entirely brown but that could have simply been under the artificial lighting.
Though I did forget about Banfield, knew there was one more in Brisbane I was just missing but started looking at the Irish imports to try and help my memory. So cheers for that.
Re: SUPERCOACH - PALGN league (1 year ago)
OK I'm using all your noggins as well because frankly it's kinda hard to determine what's classified as "blonde" and what's classified as ranga with a hell of a lot of names I'm getting.
I've currently got a list of;
Backmen:
Goddard [STK] ranga
Merrett [BRS] ranga
Fletcher [ESS] possible ranga
Guthrie [GEE] ranga
Cheney [HAW] ranga
Connors [RIC] ranga
Moore [RIC] ranga
2 open spaces
Midfield
Cooney [DOG] balding ranga
Ziebell [NTH] slight ranga
Jackson [RIC] ranga
Thomas [PRT] possible ranga
4 open spaces
Ruck
Roughead [HAW] ranga
Hudson [BRS] bearded sage ranga
Jacobs [ADE] ranga
Browne [RIC] ranga
Forwards
Bate [MEL] ranga
Riewoldt [RIC] crazy ranga
Lynch [ADE] ranga
6 open spaces
And 3m left in the kitty.
Now I've seen lists which state the Selwoods (Adam, Troy and Joel) have ranga heritage yet to me they look more blonde or brown in Joels case, I've also seen lists with the Shaws as possible ranga, yet Rhyce's beard is black and he's bald and heath shaves to black/dark brown as well.
My back up plans are "blondes do it better", "AFL Recycling Service Enclosures: A.R.S.E" or "Buddhas Balding Bollocks" if I can't nut out enough rangas and it can be put on the backburner for when Jules' kids are running around. *shudders*

Re: SUPERCOACH - PALGN league (1 year ago)
As has become a little bit of a tradition I will of course be partaking of the coaching of supers in a manner where said supers are not actually coached and instead chosen for other reasons, be them unnatural, absurd or based on who has the hottest WAG going around. As such, I require something you would like to see, since I don't think I have the patience to sort through who's a ranga and who isn't into a shortlist.
Won't work for Freo IMO, Subi wasn't a ground conducive to lockdown plays due to the wide barge like conditions in comparison to Etihad and they have less "hardy" players to pull it off as theirs are more prone to running all day rather than locking down and rebounding. Sure they'll increase their defensive pressures, but it'll hardly be a carbon copy of what the Saints went through and I honestly doubt they'll reap the same rewards since largely their problems have been in the forward half which coincides with Lyons problem being the forward half, hence it all turning to shit as soon as Tudor left.
My smokey is Melbourne, their problem was largely between their ears in that they really didn't train or play to win, they trained and played to complete personal goals and earn contracts, they'll benefit more from the change of coaching structures, though it might take a while to see results, but they could surprise a few.

Freo I don't know about, Ross Lyon was very good, but then ran out of ides with St Kilda, you could argue there is more talent at Fremantle, but he has even less of a forward line to work with, so I wouldn't be surprised to see another defence first focus there.
Another team missed here, will WCE back up the form of last season and be a top 4 side again?

It's largely why I dislike the language as a whole, I can walk outside and through an unfortunate situation be sideswiped by a car, I'll cuss because in shock you don't really think about keeping up appearances or being polite and the intent will be to say "holy goddamn I could have died" but since there is a childcare centre across the road there will be individuals giving dirty glares or otherwise devaluing me because of my chosen language, they will infer a different motive, one of anger towards the driver perhaps.
When really we should be worrying less about what was said and more about how it was said, so I'm merely pointing out that the writer in this instance is towing a narrative and effectively comprehending a different intent than Emery seemingly indicates through the quotes.
You'll be hard pressed to find anyone in his position giving emphatic timelines for policy.

Now you take the writer.

David Emery, manager of applications at the Australian Classification Branch, has warned of a two year delay before the country finally sees the much needed R18+ rating.

Emery disagrees, pointing out the obstacles to a a quick introduction.

"The answer is that it'll probably be another couple of years before we'll be able to accept an application for an R18 game."
Chances are that if this stretches out, you'll have the same writer taking excerpts from this and quoting someone else who disagrees that it'll take a couple years and "realistically, due to the sheer weight of the bureaucracies and inability for the states to agree on anything without wasting several years, the fact that the documents were misplaced by civil servants and that we're around an election means that the R18+ rating is likely to be introduced in 2020."
There'll be no reference that the writer was "wrong" or "assumptive" (tell me young lady, where did I mention the number 2?) and such is printed media and the industry at present that it won't matter in the least because people only read headlines and have the mentality to watch ACA and go "OMG, emotive music makes that man evil!".
