Im kind of disappointed. I was really hoping Nintendo would move away from gimmicks this generation. The name is also terrible but I can see why it was done (brand recognition).

Eclectic combination of taste there too. Do you go for any particular genre or do you just get your hands on whatever is rare/hard to find?
I collect every genre except plastic instrument. So no Singstar or Guitar Hero. I love how the PS2 has such a wide variety of games, so I try and have at least one game for everybody. Other than that the focus in mainly on rare and quirky stuff. PS2 exclusives also get somewhat higher priority.

I also like to collect the shovelware titles any half educated gamer would know not to touch with a ten foot pole. Some of them can actually be great entertainment (so bad they are good). Only problem is that the local EB Games employees are starting to think Im either a bit simple, or just have the worst taste in videogames ever.

Can I have the ones you don't want? icon_razz.gif
Depends what you wanted. But I would rather hold onto most as they are useful for me to trade towards stuff I still haven't found. But some I just don't care about. Anyone after a scratched copy of Crazy Frog Racer? icon_lol.gif

Zombie Zone for PS2.

I too am looking for leads on fire pro tallkid. Please reveal the secret purchase location:)
This seems to get brought up again every few years on different forums I visit. I would consider myself a bit of an audiophile, but I became fed up with a lot of the sites and magazines. There is just too much snake oil and placebos. I think it is extremely difficult to objectively compare sounds then describe them with words.

Anyway I am still of the opinion that the SCPH-100x does have a nicer sounding DAC than the later model Playstations. It's probably also better than many cheap 90's CD players. But it seems very overhyped. It's not a magical-best-ever player.

It also seems extremely impracticle.

There is a bit of a quirk to the Playstation that you should know about in case you encounter it with your own: it can overheat if not placed in a well-ventilated area due to poorly placed vents in its chassis. Apparently the plastic moldings inside the player can warp slightly, causing the laser mechanism to skip if it gets too hot.

You'll want to leave your PS1 on all the time and it will take it about a week to come up to its considerable performance potential. A cold Playstation merely sounds okay but after a week, you'll be treated to perhaps the best digital you've ever heard. The PS1 does a wonderful job with tone color and has a very analog quality that no other digital source I've yet heard can match.
A week!

I think it's the sort of thing that you would only start to notice on an expensive system anyway. Have you spent much on amps and speakers element465? I think those would make more difference.
Yes, this is a very common problem. Apparently you can use a hydrogen peroxide mixture that seems to work well, though I haven't tried it myself.

Seems like a bit of work, but here's how to do it. http://retr0bright.wikispaces.com/

US price = Price in Euros (normally). So $250 USD = 250 Euros, which is then converted into AUD and a bit extra chucked on top for good measure.

So basically $350+.
You are probably right here. It feels as Nintendo only cares about the bigger markets (the US) while little Australia gets screwed again.
*double post* please ignore.
Well yeah, it would certainly be inconvenient if I was happened to see a bargain game at EB or something.

Also if this is only $250 US then I don't see why this should cost a cent over $300 AUD. Actually I think even $300 is too much but this is Nintendo we're talking about.
If you import from the US, doesn't that mean you will also have to import every single game you want to play?
GBA Micro

Yeah I'll buy a new console some time in the next few years I think.
Carmageddon 1 and 2 were great. The last one, TDR 2000 sucked and ended up killing the franchise. I was suprised (and now disappointed) to hear that square enix has anything do with this game. They never used to. They must have bought the rights years later somehow. Not so they can continue the series though. Oh no. Just so they can use lawyers to stop anyone else trying.

Very disappointing news.
Re: Gaming Bargains V2 (2 years ago)
^Is that brand new or refurb? Cause all eb's refurbishing involves is sticking the console in a new box.
It's not a problem for anyone but the publishers. I haven't bought a new game for 3 years. 95% depreciate so fast that it feels like Im just throwing money away. Buying the latest FIFA game at launch is the equivelant of burning money. Customers aren't as stupid as the industry wishes, and more and more seem to be buying second hand. I say good.
Sounds like a good idea. But no need to charge medicare. Tax Blizzard and Activision!
Re: Gaming Bargains V2 (2 years ago)
Went to 2 different EBs today. One didn't have any xboxes or xbox games. The other had xbox games but said they would have to order a console in if I wanted one. No mention of this $50 deal.

Eb are selling the original xbox + 5 preowned xbox tittles for $50...includes 12 months warranty... was going to pick up one myself but they sold out after a few days....

IT will come with the console ( obviously), 1 control and 5 xbox tittles of your choice...
Thanks for the tip! I would be all over this deal if any of the local EBs still have the Xbox. Do you know how long it has been running for?
If you stuff the Chanseys in a box they will be sad and you will never be able get their happiness to a level where they will evolve into Blissey. Consider this carefully.
Re: Gaming Bargains V2 (2 years ago)
I was in GAME exactly two weeks ago when all this was starting and the employees told me it was just a presale and that the "real sale" hadn't even started yet! But the deals back then were so good that I really couldn't see how they would be able to top themselves. So I was sceptical.

I was back in GAME today and they were looking alot more empty. I casually mentioned to the employee guy that some of the prices had gone up. He just quietly responded, and I quote, "we were losing too much money".

I was laughing a bit inside because I can't see how anyone wouldn't have expected this. Of course there will be a huge demand for stupidly cheap games! But maybe they are smarter than I give credit for and they were selling at a loss just to get their name out there. I will admit I told a few people myself "crazy sale at game!" So maybe marketing move after all.

Re: Goldeneye Remake (2 years ago)
This just makes me angry. We miss out on a proper Xbox Live Arcade version so Nintendo can give us this instead? Nice try Activision, but EA already tried the cash-in-on-goldeneye-name thing with their 2004 suckfest Goldeneye Rogue Agent. Wii in my opinion is probably the worst current gen console to make this game for. When real Goldeneye came out in '97 it had easily some of the best graphics for its time. Wii lacks the raw power to do this.

The #1 reason this will play nothing like real Goldeneye is the aiming. The original Goldeneye used a toggle system where you could not move and use the crosshairs at the same time. Jarrod is correct in saying this is basically a Call of Duty mod.

Also this game needs to have exactly 23 unlockable cheats. No more, no less.

Though on a positive note I must say that trailer they have made sure is pretty effective in getting people excited about the game. Notice the first half is nothing but talking about how good the original was?
Wow I don't really get excited about new games anymore, but this one is an exception. Looks like I may have to pick up a Wii. The closer this stays to the originals the better.

I absolutely cannot wait for this game. I was never as big a fan of the series as Waka, but I managed to finish the games on GBA some years ago and they were awesome. I'm confident that DKCR, being developed by Retro, will be just as good if not better.
This game could certainly be great fun but better than the originals icon_eek.gif ? Impossible I say. You can't improve on perfection and DKC2 is very very close to perfect icon_biggrin.gif .

Just went to GAME Belconnen (Canberra) - they had a preowned copy of Eyepet bundle without the sticker, and told me it was only the new version that was $18 - has anyone here managed to get a preowned one for $18? :s

Also, got these:
Vampire Rain: Altered Species (PS3) - $12, then went over to Muffin Break as it was 5PM to get free muffins from a friend who works there, he told me to give him a game if I want muffins. Gave him Vampire Rain, he gave me 9 $3.50 muffins. Worth it.
Singstar: Take That (PS3) - $12 - **** YES.
Sky Crawlers (Wii) - $12
Cursed Mountain (Wii) - $12
Gears of War (PC) - $12

And some trade bait for SMG2:
The Bigs 2 - $8
The Beatles Rock Band - $12
Metroid Prime 3 (already got the Trilogy) - $12
Oh really. Did you pay for that stuff with money made from sales threads that you never delivered on? Check your PM's.

On a lighter note I picked up some PS2 games at the incredible $2 each. Highlights were probably Onimusha, Timesplittters and DBZ Budokai. I also noticed that they had a seperate area for the more "premium" PS2 games that had not been marked down. Does anyone know the story for when they will be put on special?

A Rareware compilation would go down pretty nicely with me, I think. Donkey Kong Country (all three), Diddy Kong Racing, Blast Corps, Goldeneye, Viva Pinata (pretending that we're in the future here), Jet Force Gemini and of course the ultimate Perfect Dark. Would be a fracking (I'm so using this word from now on) awesome compilation disc, or series of discs if you ask me. icon_biggrin.gif
This is perfect. All the DKCs Blast Corps and Goldeneye on one disc I would buy any console for. Oh and since this is an imaginery topic, I would also like to see them with bigger uncompressed textures and higher quality sound.

After some reading I found that the .vgs format is exclusive to guitar hero and there is no way to export to any other format icon_pout.gif icon_pout.gif icon_pout.gif.

Yeah but my point is why would you download tracks you already have on CD? Even by your logic he is guilty sharing/uploading those tracks even though it may have been accidently.
