It defiantly appeared today, I use Play Tv and always have the option of TV there, and use the Play TV daily including last few days, and it 100% wasnt there till today.

Works pretty well now.

so just to confirm, play tv will:
Televise in HD, if the channel is HD (not scale/'dumb' down to SD)
Record in HD (again, not scale it down)
pick up all australian channels?
It has never downscaled HD, it has always recorded it in HD. If you record anything off of the HD channels its like triple in size on the hard drive. It doesnt support the new HD DVT standards in the UK, but does support the HD standards in Australia, including the ABC 720p broadcasts now, which it didnt before.

Hmmm...I'll have to check it out when I get home tonight. I will miss the 1 minute skip but haven't used the XMB export yet. Are the FFW speeds the same at least? The 120x will suffice for ad skipping.
Oh I forgot to mention that, the 120x fast forward is also removed.
Re: PlayTV (3 years ago)
Anyone get the update for Play TV?

It now works perfect for all Australian channels. ABC HD now works, and all SBS channels now work too.

Looks like all those doubters were wrong, we got the exact same version as UK, and it picks up all HD Australian channels perfect now.

Told you guys. The hardware was always going to be the same.

Now that its Freeview certified though, they got rid of the 1 minute skip function (basically you hit it 3 times, and it skips the adds in most shows), it wont work under Australian settings. You also cant export your shows onto the XMB when its under Aussie settings (again, a Freeview requirement).

Looks like consumers are worse off under Freeview.
Err this is really old old news. It was reported that CODMW2 wasnt going to have co-op like a year ago, and that there was going to be a separate mode of missions.
err a bit late isn't it, didn't this come out last week
Re: PlayStation Home (3 years ago)
I deleted it awhile back before I upgraded my new hard drive, but now that I have 500 GB installed, I put it back on there.

The new Buzz Home thing is pretty cool, other than that everything is still the same crappy thing, hasn't changed much since it launched.

The Buzz space works like this, you enter the Buzz studio, and you play home made Buzz quizes. There are four answers, and you just move your avatar over the floor where all the answers are written.

Its a bit sucky though, cos you just follow everyone else, because you can see what answer everyone else chooses (basically you just follow the crowd of people).
I got mine on special for $40 a year or so ago from Game. Im sure it will hit that price again during the end of year sales.
Re: Rarest Game you own (3 years ago)
Rock N Roll Racing SNES
Im pretty sure if Sony says it accepts Visa, no matter what it has to take it if its a Visa card, regardless if its a credit card, debit card or pre paid card.
I seriously doubt this will happen, Sony have full access and inside knowledge on how the PS2 and PS3 both work, and it would of happen already if software emulation was possible without some sort of hardware.

Anyway, I have a launch PS3 with PS2 backwards comaptibly, and I must admit I never use it. I have used it once, it was play Half Life 1 before I brought the Orange Box a couple of years ago.
Re: BUZZ: Brain of OZ (3 years ago)
Have you tried on the weekends, Im not sure about Brain Of Oz, but I know the normal version you can always find people playing it on the weekends but not during the week.

Mind you its been awhile since Ive played Sofa vs Sofa. Anyway Ive got it so feel free to add me.
Re: PlayTV (3 years ago)
Yeh that sounds about right, I basically upgraded my hard drive for Play TV, it takes up huge amounts of space, its no different to how much space a media centre pc uses though.

Here are some examples of recordings on my PS3 and how much space they take:

Thank God Your Here (Seven SD) 1 hour standard def 3.0 GB
Packed To The Rafters (Seven HD) 1 hour high def 6.3 GB
Good game (ABC 2) 0.5 hours standard def 1.1 GB
The Recruits (Ten) 0.5 hours standard def 1.2 GB
Border Security (Seven) 1 hour standard def 2.8GB
Family Guy (Seven) 0.5 hours standard def 1.4 GB
Reality Undercover (Seven HD) 1 hour 7.0 GB
WWE Afterburn (Nine) 1 hour standard def 3.0 GB
Bad Boys movie (Nine) 2 hours standard def 5.3 GB

It depends on the channel, the type of show it is, etc. Its not worth recording non HD shows in HD for hard drive space reasons, theres still a ton of shows not shown in HD (including every channel 10 show at the moment).

Ive got a 500 gig hard drive in my PS3, but yeh I get tons of use out of Play TV and have made my Ps3 basically the center of my entertainment room living.

I watch most of my tv on it, all my dvd's on it, my blu rays and have a huge music collection on there.
Re: PlayTV (3 years ago)
Yep records HD fine, also records HD while watch another HD channel at the same time.

ABC HD stutters a bit though, but the major channels One HD, Seven HD and Nine HD all record fine and look alot better than my set top box.
Re: PlayTV (3 years ago)
I dont understand the special "HD" bull**** coming from Sony PR, Play TV receives all the HD channels fine for me except SBS and ABC.

Infact, it upscales all my SD channels to HD aswell and gives some of the best broadcast tv picture Ive seen on my HD tv.
God dammit, they have a minimum transaction of $10, and I only have $20 left for the week cos I brought tickets to Transformers.
First of all Vidzone is completly free, its supported by a bunch of UK adverts, mostly telephone companies in the UK.

Its defiantly very clunky the user interface, and the whole things needs to revamped, especially searching for artists.
there kinks out when it comes to it actually working, every time Ive gone to use it in the last few days its worked fine.

As for the quality of the videos, what do you expect its streaming, and there no way it could be improved anymore with the quality of Aussie internet connections, the audio is fine though.

Whats the deal with not being able to use the BD Remote or any controller other than controller 1, its a huge pain in the ass.
Overall its a very cool service and idea, and I hope they continue to evolve it.
You will see AOL messaging or Yahoo Messenger before you will ever see MSN.

AOL will be the more likely of the two, its huge in US.
Haha, I remember when I use to work at JB Hifi. Instead of looking up movies in our own database, we would use EzyDvd's. It was much more comprehensive and easier to use than ours lol.
You would think PALGN, a dedicated PAL gaming website, you guys would mention the number 1 factor that makes World At War better than Call of Duty 4 for Australian/UK/NZ users.....

The Matchmaking has an option that filters "LOCAL" users only, meaning you only get put into matches with Aussies only. Not many games have this, and this was the major selling point after playing the Beta for me.

Has anyone tried to get into a random Aussie match mid week in the middle of the day? Its impossible on COD4, however very easy in World At War.

Im kinda dissapointed you guys didnt mention this being a specific PAL site. I know the IGN AU review mentioned it. (Basically Ive switched to WAW permantly cos of this feature to, over COD4)

Can anyone please tell me what kind of splitscreen options are in this game, I haven't been able to find a clear answer online.

Are there 4 player deathmatches? Two player online? Four player online (like Halo, we can only hope another game will top Halo's online features)?

If there is splitscreen, are all the maps playable or are some of them "hidden" like COD4?

The offline multi player is the deciding factor for me, as there is a significant lack of 4-player games out recently, and COD 2, 3 & 4 were awesome 4-players.
Co-op story is spilt screen, as is zombie mode. Theres also just a standard deathmatch spilt screen.

There is no spilt screen online multiplayer (like Treyarch normally do) though. At least they did co-op though, which surprised me.
Re: PlayStation Home (4 years ago)
I signed my bro up for a PSN account 3 weeks ago, and he hardly has used it since.

Ive had a PSN account for a few years and use it every couple of days, and his account gets an invite?

In the end I shouldnt be complaining cos I got into the Home beta through his invite, but seriously they must of just selected people at random.

In the end Home sucked anyway.

But one thing i noticed that might come back to bite HOME in the ass is this guy was then asking there ages.
Regardless of what people say (of course some will lie) I read that at least the open beta will be 18+ only well at least the account holder.
I tried my sisters account, shes 12. It comes up with an error message saying shes not old enough.
Surely if the PS3 has flash v9 support, that means the sdk is finally out and they can support it on the Wii aswell.

It is great watching streaming video sites such as Gametrailers on the PS3, and I would love to be able to do it on my Wii too.
This is the first game my gf has played without me. Id recommend it to anyone that has a girlfriend that has no interest in video games...she has even asked to borrow the PS3, thats how much she loves playing it.

It has defiantly surprised me, and its great game a couple can sit down and play.
Ahh that explains why I couldnt find the Mario level yesterday
Well I recently brought the first chapter of Blood Siren, and I can tell you now I was not happy with the size of the first chapter.

I think it was about 3 gig in total, and it was divided into 3 downloads. I have a decent download limit of 30 gig a month through TPG for about 50 bucks, but thats a premium heavy plan. I doubt most people in Australia have decent download limits.

Theres no point in Sony even bothering to release anything here digital, and I can see why both Sony and Microsoft will probably never release a download movie service. (Unless someone partners with Bigbond movies and make it so it doesn't count towards your metered downloads).

It sounds like the US is going extremely backwards at the moment too, as more ISP's are introducing limits similar to what we have here in Australia, it will be interesting too see how that affects things too, it is the biggest gaming market after all.
Im getting two versions of the game. At the moment its a pain to import a standard edition from the UK (there pretty much sold out for launch in all UK stores). So im getting a cut Aussie version of the Xbox 360, as region coding will be in full force on the Xbox 360.

I am importing the special edition uncut for the PS3 however. I want to be able to play all mates regardless on what console they own, so Im going to own it on 2 platforms, and have a cut version and uncut verson.

OK, I know that this whole topic stinks for Australian gaming (as we should have R+ rated games) but it's not like we are getting a horride gimped verison of No More Heroes here (I mean black and lacking blood? The game is a art form and it should have never have been censored). I mean, yes not being able to do something which the game creator intended is crap but it's something trivial like murdering a hooker and getting your money back it's got to beg the question 'Does it really matter?'. I don't think the GTA games in the past have really changed the game in a way that makes it feel lacking.

I know it sucks and I hate the Australian laws as much as anybody but I feel a few of you are blowing this out of the water (er you Ugh).

What was more cencerning to me was Ninja Gaiden 2 and how that might have changed the gore which from what I have read is a core part of the gameplay (i.e. limbless enemies etc). I think when they start messing with the way you play the game then we can starting rioting in the streets and boycotting the whole system.
Were not talking about Ninja Gaiden 2 here, we are talking about the biggest game release probally for the next 2 years. No game will come close to GTA IV in sales numbers. I want the biggest game of the year to be totally uncut and exactly how the developers wanted it to be seen.
For those after a UK store still selling the Special Edition, you can still buy it from GAME.

Its the opposite to Australia over there, the standard edition is sold out and you can only pre order the special edition (maybe its there way to make more money?).

Will this map eventually become a free download like Halo 3s?
I doubt it, it still costs you 800 points for the Map Packs in COD2 and COD3. This isnt a first/second party game.
Well that explains why the special edition maybe sold out...obviously the Australian package would contain the cut version of GTA IV, which cos it only 1 country, they wouldnt have made too many of them
So what there saying is pretty much everything except Tiger Woods will be dropped, because that seems the only PC friendly EA sports game.
