What i have also done is after reinstalling and updating, i have copied the install directory to another location so that if it does stuff up another patch install i can just copy the backup back in and try again rather than go through the whole install process again.
This happened to me to, and it's happened before.
But the way i got around it was by uninstalling it and reinstalling from the disk. When doing this i only need like 300mb of updates after that.

From what I read through in the article, Jason simply wrote in a more humorous perspective about a weekly article that (from any Australian Games site, really) rarely changes in content on a week-to-week basis.
mind you the joke doesn't change on a week-to-week basis either
it's only if your account is currently expired i think

^Yes somewhat of the reason I left too.

The game is just too easy and too casual now, I mean, thats in good in a way but it is also decimating to the enjoyment of countless people who find the slow build up in getting gear ultimately more rewarding than instant gratification.

This is progression. Progression was fun, I miss the days of vanilla and even Pre-BC where your head would literally explode from all the screams of triumph in ventrilo, nowadays all you get is a simple "woot" or a "good job" while the loot pinata goodies are handed out.

You can pretty much skip progression completely just doing 5 mans, getting badges and doing 5 mans that are the equivalent or better than the 25 man raids prior to its opening. While this is good in a way, and I see that it caters for more newer players, and those who have less time, also it is good for gearing up alts really fast - this, and a number of other things has taken away the magic WoW once had, its now just an empty shell of what it use to be.
Everything I want to say right there. I see the benefits for sure, and yes I agree it's so everyone can see the Lich King as well, unlike the previous xpac final raid bosses, but the drive to play for my gear fix is certainly gone.

The biggest problem I have is that the gear doesn't last any more. Going through 3 tiers (4 if you include 80 dungeons) of gear in a couple of weeks? Absolutely rubbish. I get more excited getting a rare pet than a piece of tier gear now.

And the fights to get the gear are incredibly easy... But the moment you want to step up to hard mode, the majority-new player guilds get all whiny because it's too hard... What is fun about getting gear easy? Don't you want a challenge? Sigh... I guess it just goes to show how much the game mechanics and player base has changed.
i wasn't enjoying the game for the same reasons... all the fights were too easy and the gear came to easy. but i went out and got myself a guild that focus's on the hardmodes and now the game is more enoyable now as it is actually challenging again

i never raided to get gear, it was a bonus but i enjoyed clearing content. replacing gear all the time isn't a problem for me but weather the fights are challenging is what is important
I thought the Thaurissan balance probs was the other way round, with the horde out numbering the ally by something stupid.

most of the oceanic servers are fine except gundrak

as far as i know though we don't have a palgn guild on any of the servers
you don't have to start again if you do like it, you can upgrade your trial account if you wish to a full account.

thats what i did when i frist started playing
lev 20 i believe is the lev cap in a trial account, which is easily done in a few days
i have 200 achievements on main atm, but can't remember how many i had when i started

also when you turn into a zombie, if there is a opposing faction that is also a zombie you can communicate with each other with /s
it's the first i have seen where you can actually have a conversation with the horde (if you are ally) without only being able to use emotes

i'm loving the new changes on my prot warrior. pre patch the only thing i did was raid on it, all my other time i was on alts. now tanking is actually more fun on it as i can now do H shattered halls without pulling my hair out and not totally useless on the trash of mount hyjal
from what i remember, they will give us 2 weeks notice, they currently haven't given it so it's anybody's guess
romulo and juliana was a pain for us the first time we tried it... we just couldn't get the timing right when they died and just res'd each other.

personally it think oz is the one that i least like though... more mobs to be looking out for and trying to control. when it's just you and the crone it's easy mode...

i find that BBW is the opera even that i like most, it's heaps of fun kiting him around.

one of my favourite fights though is shade or aran... it's one of the few fights where i get to chuck some damage gear on and go nuts icon_biggrin.gif
Re: NRL Tipping (5 years ago)

got tickets to this the day they came out,i can't wait.
I would be interested, the last one was heaps of fun
also go into the settings and change the sensor bar strength (i can't remember that the exact setting is called)
yeah i did this on launch too... just so i could light up the disc slot icon_razz.gif
lol nah... it's an hour on the way back icon_razz.gif plus most days my g/f picks me up from work and it only take 40mins to drive

when it's not peak hour it's only a 20min drive to the city... just peak hours sucks in brisbane and the public transport is even worse

I opted not to get it. I really love Pokémon, but I'm just sick of these half-assed attempts at Stadium games. This thing just isn't up to the standard it should be (see: Stadium 2). Many reviews have expanded on this icon_smile.gif
see above... exactly how i feel

meaning I'm disappointed...

dammit ninty... hurry up and bring out a Pokemon RPG for a console as well as handheld!
dear god... if that were in bris i would be there in a instant...

the place i'm in is 130 a week for my room and it's a 1.5 hour trip on the bus in the morning to work from where i am...

The game has been delayed in Japan till 2009. LOOOONG wait ahead.
damn... that's a shame to hear... cause the FF series is the only thing that could make me consider getting a PS3...

oh well... hopefully by then there would have been a price drop icon_biggrin.gif
it's really easy to see why it has been so successful... I'm lucky if my g/f lets me play a multi-player game of mario party 8 on it with her... otherwise i would never get to play it anymore

edit: spelling
1st November 2007 Age Of Empires 3 Dynasties (expansion pack)
7th November 2007 Guitar Hero 3 Bundle (Game & Guitar Unit)
8th November 2007 Big Brain Academy Bubdle Wii Degree + Wii Remote
8th November 2007 Metroid Prime 3 Corruption
22nd November 2007 Mario And Sonic At The Olympic Games
29th November 2007 Super Mario Galaxy

it's an expensive month for me!
i have a heap of friends that are into games, one of them i know comes to this site for info. I don't have a problem discussing this kinda stuff with them, but then i have other friends that don't have any interest in gaming what so ever so the topic never comes up. however I'm not going to hide the fact gamer/forumer/nerd if it ever come up... it's who i am

on the other side of the argument i play up to 4 sports a week and usually go out on the town on Friday and Saturday nights with my mates

i don't feel that i get stereotyped at all because i could fit under few different categories

personally i just try to find a good balance of it all... which at times can be hard with all these games i want to get coming out in the next few weeks!
Re: Soundwave 2008 (5 years ago)
does anyone know where to get the tickets from cause the website still has last years site and links on it

And lets face it, when you see the different between PS2 & PS3 games, you'll not care about BC.
There's a huge difference between the PS1 games and PS2 games too, and i still find myself going back and playing PS1 games when i get bored of there being nothing new out. BC does matter to some people who like the old classics.

Thankfully the PS2 and the wii both have BC so i never go bored when there isn't anything new out
what i don't get is that with the 40GB version, you can buy a PS3 AND a PS2 for less than the old PS3. sure, you're sacrificing 20GB of HDD space and a few USB ports, but if BC is really that important to you (and i love my classic games too, so i'm in this boat too), then really there's not that much to complain about.
For me it's having to find extra space in the TV cabinet (which is already totally full), another power point, i would have to keep switching cables cause there won't be enough component ports at the back of the TV for both... i know that they are petty little things for some people but for me they matter, but if the BC was there it would make want to purchase it more as i can get rid of the PS2 from the cabinet

The other thing i want to know is if it will now have enough USB ports for rock band icon_confused.gif

re: BC ---- if the US could have it in their consoles CHEAPER then we got ours there is no reason I can justify supporting sony AU. If I ever get a PS3 it will be an import....
thats exactly what i did and i have never been happier since icon_smile.gif
thats what i wanted to do but my PAL PS2 and PS1 collection wouldn't able to be used on a US PS3 from my understanding

with msoft faulty consoles, sonys gimped and expensice ps3 and the wii gaming drought there is little doubt in my mind that the DS offers the best gaming value of this generation....................
you've hit the nail on the head!

I find the fact that they have taken out the BC really disappointing. I still find myself going back and playing the old Final Fantasy's from the PSX on my PS2 all the time. just because they were last gen didn't mean that i had forgotten they existed!

Even though Sony has screwed us over again i will no doubtably be forced to bow to the power of Sony and end up purchasing a PS3... however this has put off my purchase for a bit longer
