Re: SLR Camera Hints (1 year ago)
I have absolutely no idea what magnification you get, it's well above my head. I read somewhere it's a 1:1 macro (not sure if it's true or not), if that helps.

The aperture is set to the widest setting (f/1.8 on my 50mm) by default, and unless you have manual controls it's set to the default.
Re: SLR Camera Hints (1 year ago)
Got a few new bit for my kit today, pretty happy!

- Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens.

- Circle polariser filter (for my two kit lenses).

- Ordered a reverse mounting ring for my 50mm lens ($3.50 worth, a great price for a fun little experiment).

The lens is amazing, so fast and it takes such nice shots. It's really a pleasure to use. Didn't get a whole lot of play with the polariser today, but it looks like it's a heap of fun too. icon_smile.gif
Wow.

So incredibly excited, Resistance multi-player has ALWAYS been great, and this is lookin' good too!

For those of you waking up around the world, the Eevee evolution download has begun, though t's not active until 13:00 in each region. These downloads, providing you have played the "Befriend a Pokémon" game on the official site last month, give you an Eevee evolution with a special ability. You have until July 19th 2011 in order to access your Eevee evolution so do it while you can.
FINALLY.

M@tt - why pay for a forwarding service when you could buy them off a site that ships here? Is there one particular model that you just can't find anywhere else? I've seen Vans on heaps of webstores that ship here.
I've been hunting around but there's not as much variety on other webstores. I was thinking about the forwarding service as a last resort sorta thing. I'll keep hunting, though. Thanks guys!
Re: One Questions (2 years ago)
Thinking of ordering a pair of Vans from the US, and they don't ship overseas.
Does anyone know of any good freight forwarders? Or a company that I can have the shoes sent to, who will then send them to me?

Okay, I haven't played de Pokemons for a few weeks now (!!!), and I think I'm getting my second wind at it.
How do I register for all this Dream World stuff?
I went to Pokemon.com and poked around there, but then I found the Pokemon Global Link site, which then directed me to Pokemon.com.
So I guess I create an account there (Does US or UK region matter, or is it just the language?), and how do I link this up to my game?
I just don't want to go around registering on a bunch of sites without actually knowing if they're relevant to what I want.
To register, you have to register on this page. Then, using the details you just entered, you log into this page. Then you've got full access!

Edit:If anyone can get me a female Nidoran with the ability Hustle I woud love you forever (and you can have a female Marvel Scale Dratini or something).

Edit number two: Found one, so if anyone wants a Dream World Nidoran Female, let us know.
Re: Pokemon B&W (2 years ago)
Yeah, as far as I know the issues with Befriending an Eeveelution are fixed, I just clicked on the "Global Link" button on the top menu instead of "Play Again". Got an Espeon! <3

The Dream World is kinda fun - the games aren't too bad, actually. Not as frustrating as the Breakout game.

You need to go to Fennel's Lab in the second city (I think), either that or it was using the online options of the C-Gear then game sync. It lets you choose a pokemon to send to the Dream World.

This is something that has me worried:

Quote
*Please remember that you can't change or delete your Game Sync ID after you've registered.
So this means if you restart your game save in the future, you can't register it? icon_evil.gif
I think that each Game Sync ID is registered to the card, not the actual game save. You register to get your Game Sync ID in the main menu, right? As far as I know, if you reset the game, the Game Sync ID should still be the same in the game and online.

Maybe if we wait for the Global Link/ C-gear to be up, there will be better options for battles. We can only hope.

Anyway, I have an idea for a team now, so if we go ahead with this eventually, I will be in.
Global Link is the Dream World, which is just catching rare Pokemon, while the C-Gear only allows infa-red battles (admittedly, these are the only good battles in the game - 6v6 and auto levelled to 50).

We could all meet in person and C-Link battle! icon_biggrin.gif

I can state safely that the monster's level is only scaled to 50 when they are above 50, even though this wasn't the case in D/P.
The really screwed over battling this generation, didn't they? I mean, having to level all Pokemon to 100 just to have a 6v6 is a total pain in the arse.
They can't patch it later on too, apparently, because the cards are read only or something(or so I read on Smogon).

I'm pretty sure in B/W it follows the same auto-level to 100 that existed in Diamond/Pearl over WiFi.
I thought that in B/W it also made them auto-level to 50 in such battles.

The item clause is for held items, so no team with all leftovers or the like.
I'm almost certain that there is NO way in the entire game that you can auto-level to 100 (everyone has had issues finding the EV's of Pokemon).
There are two battle types available on Wifi:
No restriction: This is everything goes - literally. No restrictions on anything, including team number and level, as well as any Pokemon and items. However, there is no auto-levelling, so that is an issue.
Flat battle: 3 Pokemon per side, auto-levelled to 50. No items can be the same, there is a restriction on Pokemon.

Why the hell is Blaziken lopped in with a bunch of legendaries too?
Because it got the ability Speed Boost, which made almost unstoppable after a few boosts. Process was: Protect (for speed Boost)/Swords Dance -> Sweep. With High Jump Kick getting boosted to 130 BP it was an incredibly tough Pokemon to stop after it had a Swords Dance or two and a Speed Boost or two.

If we follow that list, then the 'lesser' legendaries such as Zapdos and Latios would be fine to use. I don't know about you guys, but I don't like that idea. I think a general Legendary ban should apply. Wobbuffet should be banned too.

I think the rules should be as follows:

- Legendaries banned.
- Wobbuffet banned.
- Item Clause (no more than one of the same item per team).
- Sleep Clause (The use of a Sleep-Inducing move is banned IF your opponent already has one Pokemon asleep at that time. Does not apply when the opponent put his own Pokemon to sleep, such as when using rest, etc).
- 3 Pokemon team.

I think if we make it a three Pokemon team, more people will have the time to train up a team and be able to enter. I don't think it's necessary to ban evasion based moves, or swift-swim, but if everyone else does, ban them too.
The reason Smogon has decided upon that list is because they have tested a WIDE range of Pokemon and found them not to be broken in the current metagame. They know what they're talking about, and I think the list should be followed.

I think banning "legendaries" is a bit of a blanket ban considering the current state of the metagame - Zapdos is much less viable in the current metagame, and although Latios is powerhouse in current metagame it can easily be stopped by a Pokemon like Ferrothorn. And defining legendaries is a bit of a difficult talk, too, considering the large number of legendaries in the games and their varying powers.
HOWEVER, in order to play a Flat Battle Wifi game, you cannot use the Pokemon listed on this page. Many of the Pokemon are banned in both lists, so it's not a big change.

Wobbuffet can, at best (as long as the player fighting the Wobbeffet is competent), eliminate one Pokemon or give a Pokemon one turn to set up. It's rarely used in the current metagame and is not even a threat any more. I don't think banning it is necessary.

Item cause is already in effect in Wifi battles, is it not?

Sleep clause is mandatory given that the sleep counter resets after a Pokemon switches out.

I'm not a big fan of the idea of 3v3, but given the only way to have a battle with even levels it must be set to Flat battle, which means that it is 3v3 and all Pokemon are set to level 50 (UNLESS THEY ARE BELOW LEVEL 50, IN WHICH CASE THEY REMAIN THE SAME LEVEL)

One of the more defining features of Wifi battles is that of team preview - at the beginning of the battle you are shown a preview of the opponents team (but not the movesets or stats), so it's fairly easy to play around the opponents team.

Just to make this clear: Unless we level our Pokemon to 100 (or are alright with versing Pokemon at a higher level than us/we agree on a level limit) we cannot have 6v6, and Flat Battle rules must apply.

Hey guys, a massive heads-up. When you win your Eeveelution, DO NOT click the "play again" button. Instead, leave the game by going to a different site or closing the window/tab the game is in, then go back in. You should get a message saying that you've already gotten the Eeveelution and that future play is for fun. If you haven't seen this message, your Eeveelution choice was not saved.

Clicking the "play again" button after finishing DOES NOT save your choice. I read about this and sure enough, the Espeon I thought I earned a couple of nights ago wasn't registered as gotten. Played through again just before, closed the tab afterwards, went back and Espeon get.

TL;DR: Leave the game site instead of clicking "play again" after winning the Eeveelution. Otherwise it won't count.
Oh.
Oh...

I've emailed the Pokemon website, I'll let you guys know.

If this happened, would it be over Wi-Fi or Shoddy Battle? Or Pokemon Online or whatever. XD
Depends what sort of timeframe we give it. I don't think we should have one for a while simply for the fact that it's only been a month since B&W came out and people simply haven't started any competetive teams.
A simulator isn't a bad idea, though, but it's not as fun as the real thing. icon_wink.gif
Re: Pokemon Tournament (2 years ago)
VGC rules also dictate that it is a Double battle, 4v4, so it's a completely different playstyle.

And yes, the current Smogon OU teir is a nice, rounded set of Pokemon to play with. I'm in.
Also, it'd be sweet if there were no hacks, just legitimately bred Pokemon and stuff. icon_smile.gif But doesn't bother me either way.

I might be able to breed a special Dratini or something for the victor if I can.
Re: Pokemon B&W (2 years ago)
Jessara: The female passes the ability along. This is only the case with Dream World Pokemon: there is a 40% chance that the ability will be passed along if the female has the ability and is bred with another member of the sapce Pokemon species (i.e. A female Dratini w/ Marvel Scale breeds with a male Dratini w/ any ability = an offspring with a 40% chance of having the ability).
Multiscale reduces damage done to a Pokemon by half when it it on full HP - Dragonite becomes INCREDIBLY bulky when on full HP.

Arnor: Eternal love and adoration will suffice. icon_biggrin.gif

NOTE: I might not be able to get some females for a little bit due to work, school and the pain in the arse that breeding can be. I'll get them done soonish!
Re: Pokemon B&W (2 years ago)
While hunting around on the GTS I managed to find a female Marvel Scale Dratini - one of the Dream World Pokemon.
I'm going to breed a few up, so if anyone wants a Marvel Scale Dratini (evolves into Multiscale Dragonite) then hit me up.
Re: Pokemon B&W (2 years ago)
I've also got some Vacuum Wave Riolu up for grabs if anyone wants one (for Nasty Plot Lucario, they're all Modest, too), as well as a few Silgiph with Stored Power, Roost and Psycho Shift (for the Comic Power booster set, these guys are Timid).

I really want the Dream World to be opened. I'm running out of things to do because all of my friends are still working through the story and I'm the only one who can use a decent team to battle.
Re: Pokemon B&W (2 years ago)
That befriend a Pokemon game was the most difficult thing I've done in my life. Holy crap. Took me a good 45 minutes.

For those playing at home, to get the Pokemon you want you need to try and make sure the majority of the little ball things that you collect are the colour/type for the Pokemon you want.
E.g. for Espeon, they'll be pink; for Leafeon, green.

There are a bunch of rare berries that eliminate EV's.
Only issue is that at the moment the only way that you can receive and grow these berries in Black and White is in the Dream World, and because of the events in Japan the Dream World has been put on the back burners.

In other news, EV trained a Sigliph today to try and do something about all the fighting types that are running around now.
It's got Cosmic Power to boost both defences, and then it's got Stored Power. Stored Power is amazing with Cosmic Power - Stored Power's base power is dependant on how many boosts you have when you use it. So at +6 Defence and +6 Sp. Def it's gonna hurt.
Re: Pokemon B&W (2 years ago)
The Battle Subway.

This SINGLE MOST frustrating thing in any Pokemon game. Game is complete hax, it's the only way that the opponents can win. Focus Blast hitting TWICE IN A ROW, TWO GAMES IN A ROW. This is one 20th/21st battle, so I was just about to get some nice BP. BUT NO, FOCUS BLAST HIT TWICE IN A ROW AND RUINED MY STREAK.

Can they just make one where it's not all just hax and the percentages of hitting are actually genuine?

I could never get it to work, Ads. It sucks and blows all at once. I don't know, I'm not an expert, but I tried almost everything, basically whatever people instructed me to do, and nothing seemed to make it work. Or there was always some obstacle.

When I had my own net, the DS worked fine, so it's kind of sad to not be able to have that option anymore ... and it seems that Pokemon BW is so WiFi intensive.
No McDonalds nearby? They've all got free wifi, as far as I know.
Re: Pokemon B&W (2 years ago)
A lot of the Pokemon are still manageable because they're all first forms. After the first few you level quickly.

If not, go Audino hunting on the Eastern side of the main-land-thing with a Lucky Egg - a level 1 Pokemon grows on average 35 levels from beating ONE Audino (while holding a Lucky Egg, and getting some strong Pokemon to kill it).
