Solitare?
Its not just any type of Solitaire, its 18 individual types of Solitaire! Wow!
These screenshots have some terrible compression, and look at the artifact-ing.

50% at least.
So you're saying that Microsoft has manufactured at least 5 Million defective consoles? icon_lol.gif

Actually Oblivion WAS also limited by the hardware. Alot of textures and tree skins had to be overused again and again in order to counter-balance the lack of HD/ storage space.
From what I've heard it was a time limitation. Speedtree was used because they didn't have the time to individually render hundreds or even thousands of tree textures, same situation with the world textures. They could have rendered individual textures, but it have resulted in heavy delays.

Also any idea on how large these reply files will be? i'm assuming depending on the length of the match it'll probably easily take 100mb.
It doesn't save an actual movie to your hard drive, just the coordinates of what happened. It then re-creates the scene, blah....

Seriously, I thought Kane & Lynch was always a PS3 title.
Previously Eidos held the stance that they wouldn't release products on the PS3 until the 2008 financial year. So considering that K&L will be released in the 08 financial year, it kinda always has been.

Mainly because this has been done to death already! I'm pretty sure this is the 4th or 5th time I've had to point this out. Ever since it was annouced that the PS3 was using a Blu-Ray drive, the 360's drive has a good 6-8 MB/s advantage over the PS3's Blu-Ray drive.
The 15.9 MB/s rate for the 360's 12X DVD Drive is a maximum, something the console doesn't consistently achieve. It all depends which part of the disc is read. Whereas the the 8.9 MB/s rate for the PS3's BR Drive is a constant 8.9 MB/s.

Apparently when the above is taken into account both have more-or-less the same read speed.

Edit: Oh snap, its already been mentioned by Ugh.
If any of you are confused look at the sourced interview over at GameSpot. Basically he likes the development environment of the 360, the integrated online service and the actual console. He is also happy with BD's performance in Japan and thinks that Square-Enix should release a Final Fantasy game on the 360.

But he doesn't like Microsoft's Japanese marketing sector. Noting that their adverts don't really appeal to Japanese audiences, as a result nobody knows about GoW. He was also really impressed with GoW.

Hear that? It's the overwhelming cheer from the four people in Australia that actually BOUGHT an N-Gage
N-Gage actually has a chance of being relevant this time. Instead of releasing a redundant handheld, Nokia's new scheme incorporates dozens of mobiles under one "platform" as such.
I wouldn't be surprised if the PS3 sold out its initial (40k) allotment, i mean, there is over 2 million PS2's in Australia...

GTA vice city still holds that record. Its like 800k or something.
Halo 2 had 1.5 Million pre-orders.

Without a doubt Halo 3 will sell more on release day, it broke 2.4 Million alone in America. Burning Crusade also sold through the same amount, but that was split between both America and Europe.

I can swallow the Wii in a 1/3rd of Japanese homes but 30% of US homes. I don't think so.
Its not far fetched at all. There is what? 80 Million households in the United States? Thats 24 Million units. Just for comparison, in America, the PS2 has sold/shipped around double that.

Its just that one will have a HDMI connection and a bigger HDD. Big Woop.
Yeah its a big woop, 120gb is a big hard drive not to forget HDMI is an option some people really wanted from start. Basically its vaporware, and people have valid reason to be pissed.
As I said before, the HDD will most likely be upgradeable. On the note of HDMI, it was rumoured from launch that Microsoft would release a revision with HDMI; if anyone really wanted it they should have waited.

This instantly makes our current 360's worthless and I want an upgrade right now.
How is your current 360 worthless? If this is indeed true, both your 360 and the supposed new 360 will play games exactly the same. Its just that one will have a HDMI connection and a bigger HDD. Big Woop. The revised components run at exactly the same speed, they're not going to make Gears run 1/5th faster...

Your HDD will most probably be able to be upgraded too.

I think they're dreaming, even the PS2 didn't last 10 years.
I don't think its too far fetched to expect the PS2 to stay on store shelves and in demand for another three years, it hasn't even reached the magic "$99" mark in the US. It may become home to dozens more Singstar/Buzz-estique titles, but hey, thats whats pushing the system in PAL regions.

The PS3 was just terribly designed in the fact that the Cell is not a processor with graphics in mind...
Maybe thats because the CELL isnt the PS3's GPU? icon_lol.gif

I would still choose a PS3 over a 360 because of the reasons I was just mentioning considering the fact that Linux is my operating system of choice (over $700 cheaper than Vista Ultimate) and it could make a good PC for me.
Enjoy running a Linux-box with no GPU Acceleration and as a result only 256MB RAM is accessable. icon_wink.gif

well done ds. what is the game to console ratio for handhelds? Anyone
The Attach rate in the US is about 3.9. (source)

In Japan it's possibly more then 10. Seriously.
I did some math and it appears to be more or less around 3.8 in Japan. I used both Software/Hardware figures from VGCharts (55,337,500 V 14,571,250). Due to the source this shouldn't be taken as 100% accurate, but until Nintendo release their new figures its more-or-less a good indication (unless M-Create have software totals...?).

If its playable start to finish, deliver, let the people decide.
Deliver a beta to store shelves?
The 360 figures are from the start of October to the end of December, so one full quarter. Well thats what GameSpot are reporting.

but what is it with people wanting Iron Maiden? yeah i know they were early pioneers of metal however those weak riffs (and long wavy hair and leather pants) just don't compare to newer stuff such as Pantera.
You've answered your own question; Maiden were included (and were demanded) because they were one of the early pioneers of Metal. The reason they chose "The Trooper" probably has something to do with the fact that the galloping riff is hell-a memorable. Sure I would have loved say "Hallowed Be Thy Name" instead, but beggars cant be choosers, hey?

On the note of Pantera, its kinda odd that "Cowboys From Hell" (Guitar Hero 1) was chosen ahead of "Cemetery Gates" which IMO is arguably their best song. Cant wait to hear about DLC Tracks.

Gates no longer writes software, Vista is pretty bad but the betas were not even alpha quality until gates stepped down from his developing duties
Im pretty sure you'll find that Bill Gates hasn't actually written any of the code in Vista, and if he has its probably legacy code which was written a decade ago. Therefore his duties have nothing to do with the quality of Vista.

Sony will not get anywhere anytime soon considering people are going to look at the $999 price tag and say "f*@k that!" and I have always said the 360's content is too narrow for the masses that make the PS2 audience
The 360 caters to all the genres that originally made the PS2 popular in its early years (well from launch until singstar/buzz, ugh), action (GTA, Halo, Gears), racing (PGR, FORZA) and sporting (Err... EA) titles. Furthermore it'll be cheaper than the PS3 for those titles.
I could really see both Microsoft and Nintendo take the Australian market.

Nintendo will provide all the freaky-causal-buzz type games while the 360 will be the cheapest (less than PS3) alternative for shooters, sports games etc.
In comparison, the PSP managed to shift 185,000 units in its first four days, while the DS managed to shift 87,000. I guess after that the PSP just stopped selling ha? icon_razz.gif
Anyone have figures of previous launches? Apparently the DS sold something like 95k in the first week...
I thought the graphics (XBX) were excellent and in comparison trumped San Andreas. Maybe its just because I haven't "Jumped In" to the Next-Gen yet? icon_razz.gif
Gears of War wasn't officially released until the 23rd.

At this point it's looking like the chip is at least 1GHz, compared to the Gamecube's 485Mhz. It maintains the extra 16MB of slow RAM that the cube had (and was mostly used as a disc buffer), which brings the system total to 104MB.
.
Im pretty sure the Wii's CPU is clocked at 729Mhz. I remember seeing some photos earlier this week of a dissected Wii and the actual CPU's barcode (on the console itself) had something like XXX-729 or something to that effect.

And just to clear things up, yeah, the Wii has a total of 88MB of RAM. Thats 24MB 1T-SRAM and 64MB GDDR3 RAM. Thats roughly double what the GCN had (24MB 1T-SRAM + 16MB "Slow" DRAM). Im pretty sure thats it (and accurate?).
