Yeh, it is quite an insane thing to do...but the completionist in me can't resist.
There are ways to get around the more difficult challenges though (enemies defeated/allies created can be altered in map create, easy enough. C,B,A ranks can be gotten by saving before the last hit of a mission, then quitting, reloading, finishing, repeating. And besides finishing hard campaign three times, the worst is probably getting 500 total ranks, which is an average of about 20 per character. Currently I have 450 or so, and am re doing the muk amok level over an over to gain 4 levels per finish. Only another 2 hours or so and I should have all 300 o_0 )

Haha cheers.
Instead of the webcam I used in my old vids, I used my friends digital camera and recorded the audio directly. Unfortunately I ignored the autofocus/reflection problems and so it won't be an official vid on speeddemosarchive.com (you should check em out frozencry, if you haven't already!)
And dare, after I get the last few medals in Advance Wars DS, I have Metroid and Castlevania waiting in the wings. Sonic Rush looks cool though, maybe we can do a swap for a while if I manage to win the mario idol thingo

Nintendo of Aus Pokemon Tour thread (6 years ago)
Well the marketing minds at Nintendo are hard at work already after another successful Nintendo event!
Another tour, only this time its Pokemon back with a vengeance. It's a pretty massive idea, and a shame it didn't happen back in the days of Blue/Silver (poke'tour '99 doesn't count as there was no comp). That said though, I think after a few hundred hours spanning the decade, my Pokemon career must surely be over. Then again I said that when Sapphire came out and my Pokemon count begs to differ
To add to the marketing juggernaut...Nintendo have teamed up with Mcdonalds AND Hungry Jacks to release two sets of figures. All details can be checked out at nintendo.com.au, where you can also vote for me (Southland, the first one!) in the mario idol contest if you haven't already done so >_> cough.
Here are the details! Pokemon trainers....READY?!

Guys, you are idiots, the Myer entrence to Melbourne central had a half full carpark with a minute's walk to the place. Not to mention it was somehow only $9.50.

Oh and a shame you couldn't make it Luke, we waited round for a while. I finally called out "We're going Luke" just incase you were lurking, but nothing
Re: MPH Nintendo Oz 8 man tourny. (6 years ago)
Haha yeh, I was quick to realise that juicy wouldn't be able to take samus home, and seeing as I was probably the only one stupid enough to drive into the city, I claimed her. And damn she was heavy...made of wood the *****! Those 4 blocks to the car were hell.
It's a shame you didn't enjoy yourself so much Eyce.
I have to admit I was pretty shocked to have won that door prize! Now I can get rid of my DSphat inferiority complex
And as much as I support Ali and co. I haven't found anything that I'm worthy of representing TEC in yet
And besides, you should be thanking me Sam

Thanks for the support Yosh
And thanks to anyone that votes for me.
When voting, remember that my performance was completely random (which started the competition), where as everyone else had weeks to plan after the comp was announced
And If I win, I'll see if I can get a game into palgn to use as a mini-comp
Thanks again, and man that mario figure would be cool.

Re: Soo, Whos going to the second connection tour? (6 years ago)
In regards to the Magikoopa retro story, Thats crap that the guy died and was allowed a second 3rd and 4th try! I mean, he was clearly skilled to get a good time...if he dies....bad luck he's out. If he's a 6 year old..yeh, give the kid another chance, but god damn. I really appreciate the tours that Nintendo are putting on these days, I think it's great....but in this case, can they at least learn how to run a gaming competition? I remember at the Melb tour on sunday, there were apparently 4 guys for the retro comp. After the 3rd guy posted the fastest time, he was given the game. I hopped on and posted a faster run by a good few seconds on the first go for a laugh (I already won NSMB), and the 4th guy was like "Hey..what?! Isn't it my turn? I'm in the final!" and the Nintendo guys kinda shrugged and were like "Uuuh oops". Poor dude.
Re: Gaming achievements (56k warning) (6 years ago)

Thanks Frozencry!
I'm no tech expert, but I believe the popular way to record vids is to just record your game playing onto a tape via VCR, then use a Video Capture Card to convert it onto your PC. I'm sure someone will be able to shed more light on the issue though.

That's my NSMB montage if anyone didnt see it and wanted to.

Re: New staff members (6 years ago)
Congrats guys
Re: Angry Nintendo Nerd (6 years ago)
Thanks, I tried with my brother yesterday, and kept doing the double hurricane kick (team move) over and over as on most enemies its a one hit kill. Pretty cheap, but it worked for the most part (then nunchuks on bosses). We ran into trouble with the jumps at the start of the final stage and game over'd though.
I can't remember which double dragon I liked best, it was the one with all the bosses that looked similiar. You fought an 'arnie' type guy on a train, plenty of cliffs and an insanely hard spike room near the end that I could never get passed.
Good times.

50 seconds as mini-mario 3rd go. I'm sure you can do better than that
Yeh I watched battletoads and TMNT today. They were crazy hard games and these guys dominated them.

Hey Dare, did you mean mini mario or small mario?
I got 52 seconds with small mario no items in a few minutes, but let me know if it was otherwise =)
And EvilHayama, there a few guys planning a full speed run through using external timing over at speeddemosarchive.com. Go check it out if you're interested.

Re: Anyone got any gaming world records? (6 years ago)
Thanks guys =)
The setup I used - Webcam on top of a tall glass, then me playing DS from behind it. It's pretty hard to hold the DS phat steady.
Hey dare, nice work. What kind of rules did you set yourself for the 1st castle? Because I can imagine bowser jr being really annoying. Did you go through as mini and use a fireflower?
How many lives - Probably about 60 recorded attempts with another 60 unrecorded? 83 lives at the start indicates it took 16 attempts from the the start of the session. It's pretty easy to make a small mistake that ruins the run; brushing a flame/thwomp, missing the edge of a switch etc.

I used to have the Fox Break the Target world record (7.25 seconds) in SSBM, but it was beaten pretty quickly.
This is really just an excuse to post the NSMB final castle vid I just made, but go ahead and post any world records you may hold (to your knowledge)
