Re: Duke Nukem Forever launch trailer (1 year ago)
I don't really care about this game, but that's one sweet trailer.

F*CK YEAHHHHHH!

No Mac love yet =
Re: R.U.S.E. Review (2 years ago)
Sounds awesome. Definitely keen.
Re: Australian Gaming Bargains - 09/09/10 (2 years ago)
I do! And appreciate it greatly!
Re: Goldeneye reimagining rumour (2 years ago)
Man, this game kicked arse back in the day. But I played it again recently and OH GOD IT WAS TERRIBLE. I seriously just wouldn't buy the same game with updated graphics so a reimagining might work with a whole new engine. Feels wrong though.
Good to hear those responses. Also, interesting style of article, written almost like a letter with a sign-off and everything!
Re: Gillette/EA Sports competition winners announced (3 years ago)
Wow, way to get a joke.
Re: Microsoft announces USB memory support (3 years ago)
Jellyfish, don't think that's true, because they obviously were able to do it now. I bet it would have been super easy to include the capability at launch. In fact, it would have been harder to design the hardware to only be compatible with MS' devices.

Re: Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing Review (3 years ago)
I'm pretty keen on getting this actually.
Re: GDC 10: Sony's motion controller is PlayStation Move (3 years ago)
I'm pretty excited by this. I'm hoping this means what we've hoped for from Wii - better use of motion control for 'hardcore' games. The PS3, being more of a hardcore machine with greater visual capabilities, will hopefully fill that void now. I'm looking forward to using motion controls on an un-watered version of a future Call of Duty, going head to head online with people using 'traditional' controllers.
Re: Steam Comes to Mac (3 years ago)
This could not be more perfect. I bought the Half Life Complete Pack for PC a few months ago, never quite got through it then went over to the Mac side. Now I can pick it back up and run it natively in OSX, at no extra cost! Awesome!
Re: Series Link #2: Final Fantasy (Part 2) (3 years ago)
Don't care what many people say, VIII is still the pinnacle IMO. It does stand out amongst most of the other titles, and I understand why fans of your VII's and IX's are generally cool towards it, but I think it's the one time Square really nailed the complete immersion. I have few fonder gaming memories than running around Balamb Garden with that amazing soundtrack in the background, wishing more than anything I could be a SeeD too.

@JackSlack
Just goes to show that ego is an even more powerful force than money. Even companies are willing to be more democratic than our politicians. Maybe if a % of sales from R18+ games went to Michael Atkinson, then we'd see some change. Sad.

Re: XBLA: Football Genius: The Ultimate Quiz Review (3 years ago)
Shocking review, Michael. Possibly the worst I've ever read on PALGN. I'm a soccer (i.e. football) fan but I'm not really interested at all in this. That aside, I would have liked an impartial assessment of the game from someone who did not have a pre-conceived dislike of the game. Imagine getting this guy to review Football Manager? He'd probably say exactly the same thing despite the great reviews that series gets. I also agree with what Fetidchimp has to say.
Very disappointing, guys.
EDIT: I did a bit of a search to see if any other reviews were around and found a similar review that gave the game an average score. As I said, I don't expect great things from the game but this is how to write a review i.e. goes through the game modes and what the game has to offer but still explains (objectively) why the game isn't great. http://www.avault.com/reviews/xbox-360/xbla/football-genius-ultimate-football-quiz-xbla-review/

Any game that gets my girlfriend playing is a great game in my book. Doesn't hurt that it's also a hell of a lot of fun.
Re: Krome Studios downsized (3 years ago)
@James
Yes, I know companies do say things like this for PR reasons, but he very specifically did mention that there may be opportunities to rehire the same people. So, that's not just looking good to stakeholders but also giving those same employees hope of rehiring, which may dissuade them from looking for other jobs.
I understand why it has to happen but I think that telling those people that they may be rehired in the near future is a bit much.

Brilliant!
Brilliant!
Re: Krome Studios downsized (3 years ago)
Um, if they're actively pursuing some opportunities maybe they could wait a couple of months before firing these people and if they fall through, then make the redundancies? I think they forget that being fired and rehired isn't as easy as it sounds, people have "emotions" and things like that too.

No piccies of the winner?
Re: PS3 does big sales (3 years ago)
Hmm, I do own an old PS3 but tempted by this new one. My old one has BC so may keep that as the bedroom PS3 for my nerdier pursuits and get a new slim for the living room for rock band and movies.

Wolfenstein is an absolute blast. The controls are brilliant too - it's definitely my favourite game on the iPhone so far.
