Fantastic. New background for me. =D
Re: The PSP Vita Thread (1 year ago)
Wifi. No point in getting the 3G version, especially if you've got a smartphone with hotspot functionality (like the iPhone and Galaxy S II).

Looking forward to Gravity Rush and Sound Shapes.

Re: Your newest purchase (1 year ago)
PS Vita (Wifi) - $348
Lumines - $59
Uncharted - $59
Wipeout - $49
Everybody's Golf - $49
Starter Kit - $35
16GB Memory Card - $65
Motorstorm RC - $10 off PSN
Super Stardust Delta - $16 off PSN
Also picked up The Last Story on Wii.
Grabbed them all from EB.
Re: The PSP Vita Thread (1 year ago)
So... I just can't wrap my head around the decision to release a 3G Vita.
What is the point? Why would I want to spend $30/month keeping it active? Why should I drop an extra $70 on one tomorrow instead of sticking with the Wifi version?

Re: The PSP Vita Thread (1 year ago)
Pricing is up on the store.
Sony titles are 10% less (Uncharted $63.95, Wipeout $47.95, etc.)
Others have bigger discounts. Lumines RRP in stores is $69, but it's $47.95 on the store. Katamari is $39.95.
Fifa is $69 to download. RRP is $69. Boooo.
Downloadable Vita titles are priced a little higher than I expected. Motorstorm RC is $10, Escape Plan is $20, Super Stardust is $16.
Somewhat tempted to buy all my games digitally, if only to eliminate the need to swap cards around.

Re: The PSP Vita Thread (1 year ago)
You can pick up Rayman Origins for $33 at EB if you get it with a Vita.
Re: Your newest purchase (1 year ago)
$89 from EB. Love it.
Re: The PSP Vita Thread (1 year ago)
I'll just get EB to price match everything (Wifi Vita, 16GB Card, Uncharted, Wipeout, Everybody's Golf, and most importantly, Lumines!).
No point cancelling my preorder now.

Re: So, Trophies (1 year ago)
I really haven't taken to Trophies.
They just seem unnecessarily convoluted and the 'levels' make comparisons hard. Also seems kinda pointless to put effort into them when I do most of my third-party gaming on 360.
THAT SAID...
I have a Platinum. Yay. From Sly Raccoon. Going to try and fully complete the trilogy, since they're juuust about my favourite games on the PS2.

Here's the JB pricing you're missing.
Re: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (1 year ago)
You'll get one off an enemy just before the end boss.
Unfortunately, it rendered pretty much everything I had custom crafted completely redundant. I'd spent quite a while collecting components, crafting the perfect selection Epic, Armour, and Utility gems, and forging a kickass set of armour with some game-breaking stats. Looked completely badass, bumped my defence up to 1200-ish, 1600 health, and then... that complete set dropped, and when fully equipped the bonuses were better than the ones I'd spent the entire game working toward. LE SIGH.
Anyway, what a goddamn boring piece of crap that game was. The only thing that made it halfway tolerable was an excessive amount of booze. It reminded me of Borderlands; boring as fuck when you play it alone, but an absolutely stellar multiplayer game. Except KoA:R doesn't have multiplayer. Complete cop-out, really. Could have made it one of the best co-op games since... well, Borderlands.
Completed every main and 'guild' quest, about fifty sidequests, got all achievements bar five or six, and wasted a good 35 hours waiting for the game to redeem itself. It never did. I am disappoint.

Re: PALGN on Pastebin (1 year ago)
Too much drama.
Everyone needs to stop whinging and move on, be it a PALGN salvage operation or migration to a new site. Sitting here complaining is not going to achieve anything.

Re: Gaming Bargains V2 (1 year ago)
Doubt it. The 3DS is the fastest selling console/handheld in Australian history. 200,000 units were sold in the 37 weeks after launch. Bests even the Wii.
Re: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (1 year ago)
This is new?
EA did the same thing with Dragon Age: Origins (Shale) and Dragon Age II as well (Sebastian).

Been a (mostly) good ten years.
So... are we going to migrate somewhere else? Any suggestions?

Picked up...
Crysis 2 (360) - $35
Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies (DS) - $35
Tetris (3DS) - $27
All from Dick Smith. They've got 30% off all games $50 and under.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Review (1 year ago)
Biggest disappointment of 2011 for me.
The whole design is tired. The recycling of assets was excruciating. The goddess trials were the worst addition to the franchise since the Temple of the Ocean King in Phantom Hourglass. The sky world was basically empty and pointless. The motion plus controls detracted from the experience due to the constant need to calibrate and the over-sensitivity of their application.
I loved the Zelda franchise. I have genuinely fond memories of each and every Zelda from the first, right up until Twilight Princess. But ever since the loathsome DS games, the franchise has become dull and uninspired. They've been void of personality, innovation, and unfortunately, the fun is completely gone as well.
Unless Shiggy gets back on board and steers the franchise back in the right direction, I won't be picking up any more Zelda games. What a shame.

Re: What game are you playing? (1 year ago)
I live in a house with three other gamers, thankfully. We've been getting stuck into this over the last couple of weeks, and now that we've become intimately familiarised with the rules of the game our tactics are becoming... vicious.
Without a doubt, it's the most fun I've had with a multiplayer game on the Wii. Perhaps any console this gen. The depth of strategy, the incredible satisfaction from a long-standing financial trap paying off, and the fact that relationships can be formed outside the game (alliances to screw people over, agreements not to perform hostile takeovers, sneaky trades for mutual booms)... that's something special.
Each game has taken approximately 2-3 hours to complete to 10,000G (with a single bankruptcy game over clause) and it's just been madness each time.
Don't get me wrong; it's not for everyone. I can see how it could be construed as dry. And hell, you would NEVER want to play it with less than four players (kinda like Mario Party). But if you've got a few intelligent friends with the patience to learn and appreciate the nuances in the gameplay, then I assure you, this is one of the best four-player games to come along in a very long time.
Re: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (1 year ago)
HOLY EPIC BUMP, BATMAN!
Downloaded the demo today, and had pretty much the same reaction as the Kotaku guys.
"Lame name." *sigh*
"Generic races." *sigh*
"Looks unpolished." *sigh*
"Oh, it's a Fable/Dragon Age mashup, how original." *sigh*
"Hmm. This combat is actually kinda fun." *interest piqued*
"Oh man this forest is gorgeous. And massive. And full of things to do!"
"TIMED DEMO?! 45 minutes up already?! BUT I HAVEN'T SAVED THE CURSED WOLF YET!" ; ;
Day-one purchase. >_<

Re: Nintendo 3DS General Discussion (1 year ago)
I guess they need to limit it somehow. Would make Puzzle Swap and Streetpass Quest too easy if you could just walk for an hour for huge amounts of coins.
Re: What made you smile today? (1 year ago)
I've got a copy of White sitting atop my pile of shame. Might have to get stuck into it.
Re: What made you smile today? (1 year ago)
Nice. Might be worth meeting up sometime then. Need to show off my terrible Mario Kart 7 un-skills.
Re: What made you smile today? (1 year ago)
Got accepted into my first preference, Arts (Languages) at Monash.
I've been told repeatedly that it's the best place in the country to study Japanese, and places are very limited. I originally applied after studying Cert IV Japanese at RMIT, and was knocked back. Moved to Japan for a year, applied again, and was knocked back yet again (and ended up completing my second preference, Bachelor of Interactive Entertainment at Qantm). Third time around, with a degree and a heap of experience under my belt, I finally got in. Woo!
Which campuses will you be studying at, Spacecow and Esposch?

Skyrim 1000G and Skylanders 1000G.
Both fun games. Looking forward to Skyrim's DLC.

Re: Your newest purchase (1 year ago)
Had no idea this was even out. Didn't see it in JB or EB. Target had it for $65.
Fun game. Has a strong emphasis on screwing people over through strategic investments and influencing stock markets. Hilarious to see Diddy Kong make Donkey Kong go bankrupt by selling shares in his properties and then snapping them up on the cheap.
Re: What really ticks you off? (1 year ago)
Got my Wii back from repair. Nintendo transferred my shop account over to a black Wii in the process.
To copy my saves back to the Wii from an SD card, I need to have played them on the console first. Cue me putting in every disc before being able to tediously copy every file back to my console.
Put in my SD card loaded up with Wii Shop games. Because they were downloaded on my old console, I need to redownload them all. Five pages of games, individually needing to be redownloaded. Goddammit. >_>
